Up Close and Dangerous: A Novel, Linda Howard (Ballantine), $25.95, No. 48 (Peak 19). I don’t know if her readership is waning or whether she is suffering ill effects from being released so close to Harry Potter.

A copy of this was sitting on the shelf at my library, along with Evanovich's Lean Mean Thirteen. Normally both authors' new releases are in such demand that even with 100+ copies, there is a very long waiting period for readers who have requested a copy. Maybe demand is down. Or maybe they were shelved instead of used to fill hold requests by accident.

I skimmed the book. Boring. It read more like a survival guide than romance or suspense, I thought. Of course, Linda Howard is one of those authors I used to love but now am ~meh~ about.
