Gotcha–thanks. But wow, not bad for a reissue. I thought only La Nora had those kinds of numbers with reissues (see almost everything in the list above).

I’m confused. Amazon lists the Howell book as having been published in 1998. Why is it on the list now?

Howell just has amazing staying power. Her last book, Highland Savage, stayed on the list for 5 weeks.

The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes, Jennifer Crusie, Eileen Dreyer, Anne Stuart (St. Martin’s Paperbacks), $7.99, No. 31 (debut). I found this placement to be a surprising because it didn’t even hit the top 100 on Bookscan.

For the life of me, I will never, ever understand the bestseller lists versus the actual hard sales. Actually — hang on, Bookscan does NOT include Wal-Mart, right? Maybe that’s the missing factor here…?

You know what I find interesting about this list? No erotica, romantica and/or paranormals (with the exception of half a dozen titles for the latter). These are the books TPB *tell* us are in the greatest demand–ie best sellers. On the other hand, the majority of the romances represented here are your good ole run of the mill “dying and or dead –so the pundits say” vanilla contemporaries and historicals. Go figure.

Yeah, i know the epubs have hard numbers and history to show that erotica/romantica/paras are their bestsellers, but maybe this is just another indication of divergence between online readership and the average reader. Stuff to ponder. Don’t mind me, I’m brain-dead and babbling. Time to hit the hay.
