Romantic Times Update: Kathryn Falk’s Vested Interest in Ellora’s Cave

I’ve received word that members from Ellora’s Cave are with Kathryn Falk at her ranch. Falk has a vested interested in seeing Ellora’s Cave succeed. She has a novel to be published by The Lotus Circle, a new company owned by Jasmine-Jade Enterprises, the owners of EC. It’s called The Secret Explained. Perhaps, part of the post were excerpts from the book. It’s like we were all recipients of an exclusive sneak peek. Yeah. Not.

Is that sorta a conflict of interest? Running a Review magazine and then working for a publisher.

I mean, I have issues reviewing books if I know the author personally.
It becomes a matter that I know I have a personal bias and would feel guilty not sharing that fact with a reader.

It’s good to know Falk does not have that issue.

I am starting to feel something very cultish…

Has she not sent a formal statement confirming or denying that she wrote the e-mail yet? She’s a bit slow on the uptake isn’t she?

    At her ranch?

Is this the same ranch W runs to everytime things heat up?

So she’s hunkered down at the ‘ranch’ with some erotica writers. Perhaps this really isn’t her fault at all, but was the result of a few long nights spent binging on boy talk, chocolate, and pink wine, leaving her drunk on girl-power endorphins, ready to take aim at the scheming meanies who use their opinions and blogs to ruin EVERYTHING.

Man, this stuff makes the Internet FUN.

This whole Lotus Circle thing is a little… odd, anyway. Or am I the only one to think so?

    Falk’s book is a NON-FICTION??? WTF?

This whole mess seems like a giant ruse for publicity.

How many freaking companies does Tina Engler/Jaid Black own? EC, Samhain, Lotus Circle, Cerridwen Press……geez.

Just wanted to clear up something. Tina Engler does not own or have any part in Samhain Publishing. Samhain Publishing is owned by Christina Brashear and Donna Holland (which is me). We started the publishing house about a year and a half ago.

    Thanks,
    Donna

Adding to the clarifications: Both Lotus Circle and Ellora’s Cave (along with Cerridwen Press) are divisions of ONE company: Jasmine-Jade Enterprises of the same address as listed above. Tina Engler started Ellora’s Cave Publishing, Inc. as an individual company, but as it grew and she wished to diversify, it became necessary to create a parent company that oversees the separate divisions. This is quite common in business.

PS. In the interest of full-disclosure, my books are published with Ellora’s Cave Publishing, but I am not an employee.

[...] But the biggest reason I haven’t been back other than the ‘programing’ didn’t interest me was when the question was put to them, they deleted it. Now this is a really be hot button for me. It prolly comes from moderating a message board for far too long but you don’t randomly delete shit just to avoid annoying questions. Or is it just because I am opinionated and it annoys me to have my words taken for no reason so I don’t like to see it done to others. And well… if no one askes and no one tells… I think that is how you wind up with Falk in bed with a Lotus. [...]
