I read this book a while ago and truly enjoyed it. I had read a few other books by Ms Markham, but none of them captivated me the way IF ONLY IN MY DREAMS did. I’m not a fan of third person books, but for this book I didn’t care. I’m looking forward to more of her books.

The tense thing kind of came and went. Once I got used to it, it wasn’t too bad but then she’d switch back to regular third person past tense (is that right?) and when she went back to present tense, I’d have to get used to it all over again. And for not being sure why she even used it, it seems an unnecessary annoyance.

I’ve never read any Kurland except maybe, possibly a novella in an anthology. I have plenty of her books though!

Agreed! I can’t stand it and I really want to read this book. I’ve really enjoyed some of Markham’s books, but some of them, particularly the third person present tense, just feel off for me.

I don’t know, I’ll probably give it a go just because you’ve got me interested in seeing how it all plays out.

That third person present tense thing drives me crazy. I was very interested in another one of Markham’s books until I read the excerpt. The book still sounds very interesting but the tense deeply irritated me. I have my doubts about whether I could read an entire book in the third person present tense.

Oddly enough, I just read this book a few days ago too. I totally agree with your thoughts, Jayne. As for the ending, I saw where the author was going pretty early on and wasn’t sure I was going to like it. But I hung in there and it really worked for me. (Shed a few tears, too!) I also have to give Wendy Markham praise for tying up all her clues/hints. I hate to be left hanging with a thought of, “but what about the XXX?!?”

I love well done TT stories. I think it’s because I was at a very impressionable age when I saw that 80’s movie “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour!
