Publishing Deals for Upcoming Books

Lauren Fox makes me think Chick lit.
Two new novels by STILL LIFE WITH HUSBAND author Lauren Fox, recently praised by Michiko Kakutani, to Jennifer Jackson at Knopf, by Julie Barer at Barer Literary (NA).

Love Patricia Wrede. Here’s a western historical, ladies.
Patricia Wrede’s fantasy trilogy FRONTIER MAGIC, set in an alternative version of the 1800s American Frontier where a 13th child comes to realize she doesn’t have to turn out unlucky, to David Levithan at Scholastic, in a significant deal, in a three-book deal, by Ginger Clark at Curtis Brown (world).

This is the second Steven King annointed author. We’ll see if he can broker books like Oprah, Comedy Central, and Starbucks.
Meg Gardiner’s five existing titles [CHINA LAKE, JERICHO POINT, KILL CHAIN, CROSSCUT, and MISSION CANNON] for publication as mass market original, plus two new titles for hardcover publication, to Ben Sevier at Dutton, by Britt Carlson at Gelfman Schneider, on behalf of Jonny Pegg at Curtis Brown UK (US).

I also love Kelley Armstrong and am not afraid to brag that I read her May release, No Humans Involved, and it is some of her best work yet.
Author of Women of the Otherworld series Kelley Armstrong’s supernatural trilogy, to Rosemary Brosnan at Harper Children’s, by Sarah Heller of the Helen Heller Agency (US; China).

I am sorry but the wording of this deal “a love relationship that lasts a lifetime” just makes me laugh. One of the blurbs I read over at HQN under the Everlasting imprint was about this couple who were in love but something inside the woman prevented her from marrying the man, no matter how often he asked. Which makes me speculate exactly what is in the woman? A venereal disease? And for a love relationship that lasts a lifetime, well, I have that with lots of things. Like that copy of Girl of the Limberlost that my mother’s mother gave me. Can that be the subject of a book?
Stella MacLean’s HEART OF MY HEART, and a love relationship that lasts a lifetime, to Paula Eykelhof at Harlequin, in a nice deal.

Is this loosely based on Gwen Stefani’s life?
Miralee Ferrell’s debut THE OTHER DAUGHTER, in which a marriage and family fall into crisis after a child the husband never knew he had is dropped off on their doorstep, to Dennis Hillman at Kregel, in a nice deal, by Tamela Hancock Murray at Hartline Literary Agency.

I just bought Vivi Anna’s Blood something today.
Vivi Anna’s BLOOD SECRETS and DARK LIES, Books 1 and 2 in the Valorian Chronicles, to Tara Gavin at Harlequin Nocturne, by Bob Diforio at D4EO Literary Agency (World).

Sybil featured the Allluring Tales authors. There are a lot of them.
Alluring Tales author Delilah Devlin’s INTO THE DARKNESS, about a woman who discovers her true dark nature with the help of a New Orleans detective, and GUARDIAN OF DARKNESS, about an ancient vampire who faces the darkness from his own past, Books 1 and 2 in The Dark Realm Series, to May Chen at Avon Red, in a nice deal, by Bob Diforio at D4EO Literary Agency (World).

Prostitution. It’s so sexy.
Pleasure Control and Pleasure Prolonged author Cathryn Fox’s THE HOT LINE, an erotic anthology, an on-call service that dispatches totally authentic, fully equipped firemen to explore the secret fantasies of women in need, to Kerry Donovan at NAL Heat, by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency (World).

JaneJane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation! Email this author | All posts by Jane

I hate you for having read No Humans Involved. Especially since I even know the correct title. It’s just not fair! I was buying Kelley Armstrong from Amazon Canada when she first started writing because she her US release dates were months after the Canadian ones. *much gnashing of teeth and wailing commences*

I have no idea to what you are referring. I have the name right. You must be mistaken. I hope you are better a catching errors in books than in my posts as you are obviously seeing things that are not there. ::innocent smiley::

Wait! Is Kelley Armstrong branching into YA or kids’ books? Cool.

And I’m jealous that you’ve already read NHI.

I think the Vivi Anna book you got is the one mentioned in the PL posting.

And it’s nice to know that someone other than me is being taunted by Jane–I don’t read Armstrong.

The Other Daughter question…is this book loosely based on Gwen Stefani’s life?

Nope! I’m the author of the book sold to Kregel and releasing in October, so I should know. The story line about a 13 yr old girl landing on her biological father’s doorstep and shocking the family (especially his wife) did have it’s basis in truth…our own personal life. Little of the story line is true, just the concept of a child appearing who’s existence wasn’t known before. The rest is, as they say, all fiction. Hope you’ll take time to read the opening scene…it’s posted on my web site.
