I never followed up on this author so I'm not sure if she continued this as a series or not. Maybe you can just skip all the spy stuff and skim the parts with Lucy and Simon.

I'm reading this book at the moment and this review seems right on the money. I do also like the main characters, so I'll keep at it for a while longer, perhaps skim to the end.

After reading your review I decided to trash the book. Waste of time reading it. You summed up what I was beginning to get a feel. I was on page 38.

Barbara, I can only hope that since people have been complaining about this plotline for over two years, that it's just about played out and won't be seen anymore. I remember when I felt sick of reading about heroes with PTSD and that seems to have been abandoned. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I'd love it if Regency writers retired that nobleman/spy plot device. It's played out. Has been for a while. I've seen the nobleman/spy hero done well, but it's been many years since I've found it even slightly interesting.
There are other paths that a regency romance hero can take. Why bother to write the story if you can't put your own special spin on it? With the exception of the spying, this stoy sounds just like one of Mary Balogh's earlier books from the late '80s, early '90s.
