I disagree with the idea that it was unrealistic to portray Christine as a wonderful person that Reed greatly misses. A person is likely to remember the good times, and somewhat idolize the person who is gone. It is hard to compete with a memory. If Christine had been nothing special, where’s the delimma for Reed?

In the case of nature/nurture, I think that Rose uses the characters in her book to show several facets of the issue. We like Reed and Mia because they are survivors. No matter how crappy your childhood was, at some point you are an adult, and are responsible for your behavior. Mia’s sister is a case in point. Sure, Rose could have spent more time showing the villan as a more complex character, but that would have been at the expense of the action and romance. The book can only be so long.

As with all of her other books, this one is exciting, sexy and a great mystery. That is what I look for in a good romantic suspense.

Keishon - I think you would like her books. I know that even though I don’t agree with her politics, I still compulsively turn the pages. She isn’t ever fearful of killing off characters except for the h/h.
