It's been a while since the original review, but I only recently read "Simply Love" so couldn't comment before. Unfortunately I have to say that for the most part I agree with you, although I'd give the book a slightly higher grade (C+). When Balogh is at the top of her form there is no one better. The scene in "A Summer to Remember" where Sydnam explains to Lauren why he is so angry at Kit never fails to move me. The image of a beautiful, literally tortured man who has had his dreams and even his very body stolen from him brings chills to my spine, and his anger because Kit sees him as a victim and not a hero strikes me as exactly how such a man would respond in such a situation. The scene is powerful and poignant and emotionally true. That scene brought Syd vibrantly alive to me, and I waited patiently for his story. There is no equivalent scene in SL. Because Balogh has brought me so much pleasure in the past, she remains an autobuy for now, but the last book of hers I truly loved was ASTR.
