I'm not terribly fond of books that are one sided that way. I thought Tammi Hoag did a good job in Prior Bad Acts of balancing demands of fairness, the law, first appearancea and vigilanteism. It is also a Chinese puzzle box of a book with surprise inside of surprise (and a nice romance as well). But, warning, it is graphic at times although the reader is not made privy to the violent acts as they happen for the most part.
