Well, unlike the last car crash, I wasn’t even tempted to pick this one up, mostly due to the fact that I hate mangled Scottish dialects, and I know, it would have driven me round the bend.

No. I can state categorically that I am not she. I did follow the controversy, though, and bought the book because of it. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not an absolutist about much, but I figure that ejecting your ethics for the publication of a book ought to be reserved for works like “Common Sense” or even the forbidden “Gulag Archipelago”. Obviously, I don’t think “Highland Fling” justifies the kind of ‘marketing technique’ used to boost sales.

I am curious though. Did Ms. Wallace ever show up to collect her $6.00?

It’s amazing what any review of a book will do for sales. Even a bad one, or sometimes especially a bad one. It’s like a car crash, you just can’t help but look.
