Amazon is cutting off affiliates right and left, some due to taxing issues within the state, but it removed any affiliate fees for Kindle books; eliminated search related affiliate fees and not won’t pay for tweeted links. Borders Is Reducing Debt & Revamping Stores
Borders sent out a press release updating the world on its improved financial status. It has reduced debt by 44.9% by the end of the first quarter even though sales were down by 12.1%. Borders Moves to Dismiss Lawsuit by Ellora’s Cave; Alleges Short Shipments by EC
Borders has filed a motion to dismiss in the lawsuit filed by Ellora’s Cave. Lois McMaster Bujold’s Book Not Stocked In Borders Stores
According to Lois McMaster Bujold’s Myspace page , Borders has decided not to stock Horizons in the store. It will be available online only. This is really sad because I think that Bujold is an author that really deserves a broader audience. This will obviously not help. It’s hard to say what is the decision behind this.(…)

Borders Will Accept Non Returnable Books

Borders Cuts 20% of Corporate Staff
A total of 274 Borders employees were laid off, most of which were corporate employees in all departments except the buyer/planner group. According to the PW article, 156 positions at the Ann Arbor, MI, headquarters were eliminated and 118 positions at the distribution centers, field marketing organization and corporate sales division. Borders Online Bookstore Launches Today
Borders had initially partnered with Amazon to serve as its online retail vendor. A year or so ago, Borders severed that relationship and made plans to start its own e-tailing presence. The beta launch is over and customers can now buy from Borders.com direct. Send to Kindle
