Barnes & Noble Is Struggling

Barnes and Noble reported a loss for the first quarter of $2.2 million which is a greater loss than last year’s first quarter returns which were down $1.67 million. Barnes & Noble Struggles

Back in November, 2007, B&N was in their 3rd quarter and predicting little if no growth in same store sales for their upcoming 4th quarter.   Now in their 4th quarter, JP Morgan is predicting negative same store sales.   They downgraded B&N stock to neutral from overweight.   B&N states that poor music sales is the culprit.(…)

Bookstores Buoyed by Harry Potter But Future Looks Grim

Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Books a Million (BAMM) all experienced profitable quarters due to the scads of people buying Harry Potter books.
