Monday Midday Links: Judge sets a trial date for the price fixing lawsuit
DOJ Lawsuit
First up in the price fixing case is a letter sent to the Judge reporting the status of the settling parties. I’m in a hurry today so I’m just presenting the PDF and a screenshot. I’ll transcribe it later. The gist of the letter is that the settling parties are working to get 100% participation from the states and are currently working with AGs from 47 states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories.

Last week, the parties submitted statements in the price fixing case which identified the disputes in the case and their preferred trial dates. Apple wanted an earlier trial date and the DOJ wanted a later one. Judge Cote set the trial date for July 23, 2012. Interestingly, it is a bench trial and not a jury trial. A bench trial is one where the Judge (Judge Cote in this case) determines both the facts and the law in a case. In a jury trial, the jury decides the facts.
Today is the last day to file a comment in the DOJ case.

Thanks for the reminder on the last day to comment. I sent my email.
Also, your BN links are all messed up. One of them even linked to the Babysitter’s Club 1-4. I did find that there was a 1.99 deal on though. :)

@Julia: Ugh! I completely hosed that link. It is The Bride Price by Anne Mallory.
Sorry about that! I’m blaming Monday.

Hamilton’s Mythology is showing as $9.99 at the sites I’ve checked; is this deal past, or possibly not yet gone into effect? (And the BN link’s off — try this one.)
I read this book all the time as a kid; it was my introduction to the Greek and Norse myths. I’d actually consider buying it at $9.99, but in that case I’m more likely to just spend a couple more bucks and get the paper version so it’s readily available for my kid to read too.

Bad, bad Monday! It seems to have given you price mirages, because none of these are showing up with the deal pricing on Amazon. I’ll come back and check again later.

Links are edited. I believe that these sales are going to go live today. (It is the 25th right?) Perhaps the retailers just haven’t turned the switch yet?

I’m glad the court case is going to be heard soon. It seems like this leaves the industry in limbo in many ways and leaving it like that doesn’t allow real changes to take root. I thought I had read 2013 somewhere and that had me worried.

It should read 2013. SOrry!
