You’ve Been Denied!
Today we had a little hosting outage and a message appeared to users that access to Dear Author was forbidden. Some of you were concerned that I had banned you from the site. It was actually just an internet glitch, the source of which we are still uncertain but I am pretty sure it has something to do with Sarah over at Smart Bitches. (Of course, I am totally kidding here. I’m sure it was something I did.)
In any event, we don’t ban people here at Dear Author. We have banned a couple of folks from commenting but always after notice to an individual first.
To sum up, I won’t ever ban your access to Dear Author and I will only ban your ability to comment after warnings and even then, I usually ask that you just take a break from commenting and come back in the future. If your comment doesn’t show up, our aggressive spam filter has probably caught it and you can email me jane at dearauthor.com and I will fish it out. If you see a “no access” warning, it’s a system glitch which is almost always caused by me doing something wrong.

Well, I’m sure the websavvy know that an Apache server message doesn’t usually mean a personal ban. Any clarification is encouraging, however.

LOL! I tried to twitter you yesterday to whine, even though I figured it was a system problem, but I couldn’t get Twitter to work either. Also, our document database was down at work yesterday. It just wasn’t a good day for computer systems.
