Open Thread for Authors (Author Promo) for July 2010

Welcome to the July Promotional Thread for Authors. What's this you say? I read quite a few blogs outside the romance blogosphere and many of the big ones have a daily open thread where the commenters drive the bus.

The rules for Author Promo Night Open Thread are as follows:

The book has to be released in that month (i.e., anything released during the last week of June would be a July release)
You can post for yourself or you can have a friend post for you if the idea of posting about your book paralyzes you .
No self published authors unless you write romance. No, I am not a POD hater, I am just thinking about the manageability of the thread.
Think about the readership. I.e., does your non fiction book about psoriasis really fit?
This one is more of a guideline than a rule, but be smart about your comment because if it is just a link to your website and the title of your book, I doubt you are going to get any interest.
DA reserves the right to delete the post if it promotes objectionable content (i.e., no daddy/daughter incest recommends are going to be allowed. Sorry.)
That's it. Post away.

Another long time reader who read romance novels in her teens, then took a long break before started back again about 15 years ago. She enjoys historical romance/fiction best, likes contemporaries, action- adventure and mysteries, will read suspense if there's no TSTL characters and is currently reading very few paranormals.

    Three promises.
    Two Lives on the edge.
    One undeniable love.

And sparks fly when his hot tempered attorney, Julia, gets drawn into the mix, her career in jeopardy thanks to his stubborn, single-minded plans.

Dark Side of Dreaming by Ann Bruce

A romantic suspense coming July 9, 2010 from Ellora’s Cave.

    The Blurb

When she finds herself bound to a stranger’s bed, former cat burglar Cleo Moran knows she should’ve stayed in retirement. However, the thought of ending the cursed dreams that plague her sleeping hours was simply too enticing to resist.

At first, Sasha Michaels wants only his captive’s professional expertise and contacts to track down the man who crippled his sister. Then Cleo wakes up and, with words and action, stirs something much more primitive within him.

Cleo feels the strong pull too but knows better than to act upon it. Neither understanding nor willing to accept her resistance, Sasha attempts to bind Cleo to him with sexual ties. Their time together, however, is jeopardized by secrets on both sides and a common enemy who is escalating in violence.

    The Excerpt

She liked bondage as much as the next girl.

Cleo, however, didn’t think her current bound state was a prelude to more enjoyable things.

She yanked on the rope that secured her hands together and tethered them to something above her head. There was some give as the cloth-covered rope stretched, but not nearly enough. Stubbornness being a trait of all Moran women, she tried again. And again. And again.

A small noise of frustration escaped her throat.

Despite the dull, throbbing pain in her head, she decided more leverage was needed and twisted on the bed and sat up. And noticed the man seated in the armchair in the far corner of the room. He was immersed in the shadows that swathed the room so she saw nothing but a menacing outline blacker than the surrounding darkness. His silent regard felt like a thick blanket suffocating her senses.

Fear made her mouth go dry and her skin prickle with heat and sweat.

It was a full minute before she found her voice, a little hoarser than usual, but she lifted her chin to compensate. “Did you enjoy the show?”

No response. Not even so much as a muscle twitch. Her chest noticeably rose and fell with each shortened breath.

“Are the police on their way?”

More silence, and the lump in her throat grew.

“I need that statue more than you need another dust collector.” She was babbling, knew it and couldn’t stop herself. “It needs to be returned to its rightful home.”

The silence continued and agitation flickered through her, slicing past the fear.

“Look, I tried the legal route, but you flatly refused all of my offers. I had no other choice.”

A whisper of cloth on leather. He’d moved. Finally. She was beginning to think he was a statue himself. Then he rose, an imposing shadow that made her very aware of the pulse thrumming in her throat. He came toward the bed, stopping at the foot, and moonlight, stark and chilly, spilled over him.

He’d never be labeled handsome, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away. Formidable frame, dark hair, deep-set eyes, broad face with rough-hewn features that looked as if they’d been carved of the same stone as the statue. Unlike the statue, his face was mask-like with its lack of expression. It took a concerted effort to ignore the tiny voice that urged her to cower against the headboard.

    “Cleo Moran.”

The sound of her name spoken by that deep, cold voice sent a jolt through her. Of course he knew her name. His administrative assistant had passed on enough messages from her in the past three months. And the man was reputed to be a shark, so he would remember the name of the woman who’d tried repeatedly to buy a relic for several times more than its appraised value.

“If I wouldn’t sell the statue to you, what makes you think I’d just let you steal it?”

Absurdly, she winced. Steal had such an ugly ring to it.

“You weren’t supposed to have a say in the matter.”

A corner of his mouth quirked up and she was amazed his face didn’t crack. In fact, it sent a shiver of sensation snaking along her spine.

“I’m the one who should be angry, not you,” he said, the ice in his voice thawing. He slid a hand inside the front pocket of his trousers and his regard changed, feeling almost like a touch.

Jittery, but from more than simple fear, she brought her hands up and pulled back the strands of chin-length hair that fell over her eyes and clung to her lips. “You weren’t supposed to come back here tonight.”

A dark slash of a brow lifted and, without a hint of pique, he drawled, “So, the enthusiasm in my date tonight was faked.”

She cursed her babbling tongue. Well, she’d never encountered this situation before and there wasn’t a For Dummies guide that covered it.

“Unfortunately for you, I need more than a pretty face and man-made assets to entice me.” A degree of heat wrapped around his voice. “Then I come home and you waltz in.”

She had trouble filling her lungs with oxygen. “What now?”

His eyes glittered darkly. “Since the woman you hired to distract me didn’t do her job, why don’t you?”

She licked suddenly dry lips. “I’d rather you call the police.”

Wolf’s Den by Aileen Harkwood, coming July 7th from The Wild Rose Press.

    Le Blurb…

Waking with amnesia in a body made for sin, Luka is a woman with an identity crisis. Not only doesn’t she know her last name, why can’t she remember the intense stranger with wolfen eyes who makes her want to howl with sexual hunger? Why has he accused her of a gruesome murder she knows she didn’t commit?

Griffin is a wolf in mourning, sworn to bring his mate’s killer to justice. His beloved Anya has just died of the bloodsong, a ritual magic forbidden among his people, in which the wolf can be called out in anyone, even humans such as Anya, who can’t survive the transformation. How is it, then, that when he looks into her killer’s eyes he sees not a murderess, but his own mysterious destiny?

    The Excerpt…

    “Dangerous. Why?

Do you think I can't take every delicious inch of you? Do you think I can't handle you?”

He blinked, astonished by this statement and apparently at a loss for words. It was, she had to admit, the single cheesiest thing she'd ever said aloud. She watched him trying to figure out how best to react, while at the same time maintaining that stern, “we aren't going to have sex, no-way, no-how” attitude.

The longer they looked at one another without saying anything, the harder it was to keep a straight face. She couldn't say who broke under pressure first, but suddenly both of them were laughing uncontrollably. She collapsed forward in hysterics, her forehead dropping against his chest.

A few seconds later, she realized he'd gone completely still.

    He pounced.

Visit me at I’d love to see you there!

When Miss Alicia Silverwood marries the Earl of Dorchester, he whisks her off to Notre Plaisir, a country manor where erotic surprises await in the company of three powerful lords.
The young Earl needs a wife and heir. The cynical Marquis de Beaumont needs a playmate. And the commanding Duke of Warrington needs a reason to live. As for the new Lady Dorchester, she's about to discover the true nature of her own sensual needs. On top of that, she's falling in love.
It might take a miracle for Lady Alicia and her three lords come to an arrangement that makes them all happy. Or perhaps all that's required is a little scandalous rule- breaking.

  8. Verona St. James
    Jun 27, 2010 @ 14:51:48

The Robber Wife” an erotic short by Verona St. James available from Whispers.

    The Blurb:

Jon's wife, Cassie, left him when she found out he killed people for a living. To pay back for the lies and the, you know, dead people, she stole all his money and cleaned out their apartment down to the last tube of toothpaste. After three years he's still got it bad for the woman who broke his heart and plundered his wallet. So when she breaks into his apartment one night hoping for a reconciliation-‘ or maybe another chance at his cash-‘ all Jon has to decide is whether he's going to kill her… or kiss her.

    The Excerpt:

Gentle hands roamed over his body. A hot mouth, soft and sweet, brushed over his lips, then his neck, then lower…lower…He felt her hair tickle under his chin, cool as silk, smelling sweet, like that coconut shampoo she always used. “Cassie…” Jon rolled over, swimming his way up from sleep, feeling for her warmth and finding an empty bed. With a sigh, he rolled back on his pillow and stared at the concrete ceiling and pipes above his head.

“You still dream about me?” The voice was soft.

Jon blinked and bolted upright in his bed. A beautiful blonde stood in the doorway to his bedroom, the light from the entranceway framing the voluptuous lines of her beautiful body. White-gold hair pulled back in her signature chignon, Hitchcock could have molded her into his ultimate “cool blonde,” if only she hadn't been born several decades too late.

The erotic dream was messing with Jon's head, and he wondered if he was really awake yet. But, then again, she hadn't been wearing a prim, pink suit in his dream…she hadn't been wearing anything. And, while his unconscious self was perfectly happy to do all kinds of dirty and depraved things to this woman, his waking self knew he couldn't stand her.

He'd long ago given up the fight on keeping her out of his fantasies, but that didn't mean he had to give up the ghost on keeping her out of his real life. “Get out.”

    “Jonathan, I'm your wife.”

The Sacrament of Conception, an erotic novel by Muriel Lede.

A tale of polyamory, poetry, and spirituality

A devout young couple is prompted by Providence to conceive a child on holy ground. They comply wholeheartedly, having carefree, scorching sex together while deepening their intimacy in unforeseen ways.

But then they are summoned overseas to complete the ritual which, upon disclosure of its shocking continuation, they realize reaches far deeper than what they had initially committed to. Somber revelations and mortal danger shall test their resolve to carry through an ordeal that threatens their very lives and faith.

Will they carry out their mission and return home unscathed? Find out through the account of their peripetias, imbued with overlooked exoticism, spicy sensuality, irreverent prosody, and ontological shock, as they journey across the Old Continent to uncover the mystery of their origins, rooted beneath shrouds of biblical proportions.

To be fair, I have my own eccentric sidelines, certainly not the least of them being mountain climbing. First I make sure she too hasn’t already seen me in some dated magazine, to my relief. Then I enumerate my modest list of ascensions, which she doesn’t find any modest either, her own being limited to climbing atop ladders. Then she corrects herself, mentioning that she also used to climb atop trees to close in on songbirds, like those thrushes over there. After all, aren’t treetops the best seats from which to attend their performances?

That inspires a performance of my own. I retrieve my piccolo from its case and improvise a serenade, incorporating a potpourri of songs from a wide gamut of birds whose denominations I for the most part ignore. My instrument successively chirps and chippers, tweets and twitters, beginning with modest movements, progressively but moderately accelerating toward allegretto scherzando until my fingers, carried away, suddenly take over fluttering its keys and dictate near cacophonous warbling barely discernible due to its speed and acuteness. I curb them before they produce sheer whistling, and take the instrument away from my lips.

If anything, she’s impressed. And not only her, for many more thrushes have since gathered on that very tree to listen to my recital, pressing me to do an encore. I follow on with a different medley; my avian audience chimes in, turning it into a singular canon, whose leader is the imitator while the imitated echo themselves! Eventually it degenerates into an incoordinate fugue, oversaturated in concurrent melodies, such that I can’t hear myself playing anymore and give up.

I gaze at Lucerna, who gazes back in awe. I introduce her to my newest addition: this piccolo, which I just purchased in Italy. Putting it back into its case, I inventory my home collection as well, which includes an authentic nai crafted here in Romania… She accentuates her already dazzled countenance and raises the issue, like none of what I just told her actually registered, of whether I can casually charm flocks of birds like that and friendlily interact with them. I prudently answer by the affirmative; is it not normal? I summon them for my wife all the time. But explanations appear vain; now she stares at me like at a circus freak, doesn’t she? On the bright side, it might help me get laid nonetheless.

We take this conversation away from the bench, to the cobblestone walk. Our difference in height suddenly doubled. How should I kiss a woman taller than me? I sense this moment approaching as we get closer, our hands meet, our dialogue thins. I run out of arguments to trivialize my latest performance. However, I concede that I rarely play for anyone but my spouse, who herself disposes of spellbinding abilities, namely extemporaneous poetry. Could mine truly be that unusual? She expresses her marvel of my couple’s phenomenal combination. Then, staring groundward, how fortunate my wife is to have found a husband like me.

We halt. I hold her nape and rub it slightly, then step back while making her lean forward, and bring her lips to mine, resolving the issue of my deficit in height. Her kiss’ taste of rosemary blends in my water, imbues my mouth. She smoothly breaks free before I can sample it further, but only out of coyness. Then she smiles and drags me ahead, toward her residence.

Unfinished Business — m/m urban fantasy erotica. This is a follow-on to A Hidden Magic, about a couple of supporting characters from the book who were interrupted in the middle of a task, although if you haven’t read that yet, “Unfinished Business” stands on its own.

After a morning of saving the world, apprentice mage Cal Toscani heads down and works a full day in his busy restaurant, because foiling the bad guy doesn’t pay the bills. After midnight, bruised and aching from the aforementioned foiling, and exhausted from a long day of work, Cal goes home hoping for a hot bath, a nice massage and some sex, not necessarily in that order. His lover and master, Aubrey Fletcher, unfortunately remembers that he’d given Cal a lesson that morning before everything got exciting, and he’s determined that Cal’s going to finish that lesson before anything else happens — yes, right now. Cal finds himself naked in bed, trying to figure out how to remove Aubrey’s spell, while a naked Aubrey does his best to be distracting. Cal’s pretty sure he’s going to explode long before he figures the damn thing out!

Cal grinned, tossed his jacket onto a chair, then spread his arms and did a slow rotation in place. “No orc bites!” he reported, his expression a parody of relief.

Aubrey just raised an eyebrow, then pointed at him and drew a twitchy little sigil Cal couldn’t quite catch before it was gone. An ominously familiar warm weight on either side of his head made him groan. Those damn ass’s ears again!

“Now?” he griped. “Come on, I just finished work, I’m tired, I want a shower and was kind of hoping for a nice massage and sex. Can’t we finish this tomorrow?”

His master crossed his arms and leaned against the doorway. “Do you think enemies–”

“–will wait until you’re rested and ready?” Cal chorused with him. “No, I know, but come on!”

    Aubrey just stared at him.

One corner of Aubrey’s mouth twitched and his eyes twinkled up into Cal’s. “Maybe.” He uncrossed his arms and moved closer, leaning in until their bodies touched from chest to knees. “Maybe you need some incentive?”

Cal felt a hand slide between them and rub at his suddenly-interested cock. The hand moved away again immediately and he moaned in protest.

“You have six pairs of ears right now,” said Aubrey. His eyes were still twinkling and the old bastard sounded like he was having a grand time. “They’re quite colorful and rather cheery, but I’m assuming you want to get rid of them. For every pair you banish, I’ll escalate.” He lifted up on his toes for a moment and gave Cal a quick kiss, then backed away.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my new m/m romance murder mystery. “Blinded by Our Eyes” is released at Carina Press on July 12. It’s adult-rated for erotica, and at 45k words, a long novella or shorter novel, available in ebook only. Set in a London art gallery, it involves mystery, love, anger, deceit, violence, obsession and the hero's deep passion – both for beauty and for love.

London art dealer Charles Garrett has devoted his life to appreciating and acquiring beauty both in art, and his companions. But his fashionable lifestyle is rocked to the core when he discovers the body of a young artist, Paolo Valero, in a pool of blood in his gallery.

As Paolo's mentor, Charles is now haunted by the horror of this violent death and begins investigating Paolo's past. He discovers a tangled web of motives and murder suspects, some of whom are closer to home than he'd ever imagined. He's drawn to Antony Walker, an aggressive, handsome sculptor with unsavory ties to Paolo. Charles is unsettled by Antony's forceful nature, but irresistibly attracted to his passion and his art.

Charles seeks answers to Paolo's murder, but the evidence seems to point increasingly toward Antony's guilt. Caught up in emotional turmoil, Charles faces the fact that his illusions of beauty and truth may have been false. Now he must make a leap of faith for the man he has come to love. But is Antony the best thing ever to happen to Charles…or has Charles lost his heart to a killer?

The sound of a man crying was the first shock. Deep, racking sobs echoing off the smooth walls of my showroom. The whole gallery was usually deserted and cool at this late hour, despite the urban truth that London never slept. Yet tonight something in the air resonated with tension. And huddled in the far corner was a slender, pale young man. Arms clenched around his drawn-up knees, his eyes hot and wet, staring at me through a fringe of bedraggled dark curls. He looked angry and scared, and for the first few seconds it was all directed at me.

Without thinking, I dropped my bag. I heard the thump as it hit the floor.

I'd never seen anyone who wasn't a woman cry like this. The sound was strange, astonishingly loud and ugly, his breath rasping with each hiccup of anguish. His shoulders rose and fell awkwardly, the bones a shadowy silhouette under the thin fabric of his shirt, his knuckles white against the black fabric of his jeans.

How beautiful he still looked, how miserable yet how utterly fascinating. My thoughts disgusted me, yet at the same time I couldn't deny them. As I stared back at him, the aggression in his eyes started to fade. Hope glinted there in its place.

Then I registered the blood on the floor around him. How the hell could I miss it? So much blood. It ran along the base of the far wall and pooled out over the floor, a shocking, plum-red stain on the pale wood. It was thick and unnaturally still, an occasional patch of it glistening under the dimmed overhead lights. Coagulated; no longer flowing. I had no idea how long ago it'd been fresh. The residue puddled around his bare feet and under his legs and arse, then slithered along the edge of the wall again, diverting around the base of a display case. I barely glanced at the case. It stood upright, but crooked as if broken, and the objects inside had been knocked over.

I just stared at the blood. Funny how these things strike you when you're in shock; it was only after I noticed the mess that the smell hit me. Thick and putrid, seeping into my throat, daring me to gag. Why didn't blood smell like this domestically? When I cut my hand, when I sliced meat? This was human blood in quantity, human life as it spilled. It had its own unique horror. Some of it had oozed between the young man's toes-‘the dark crimson colour stark against the pale skin of his feet, a gruesome parody of piano keys. He sat like an island amongst a grisly sea, a pale shadow within the dark, viscous surround. When he put a hand out to the wall and started to ease himself up, I wanted to cry out, to tell him to stay still. I wanted to stop him spoiling the perfect, limpid surface around him, breaking the seal.

It was the shock made me think that way. Of course it was.

“Charles?” His voice was hoarse, as if he'd been shouting. “God, I've never been so glad to see anyone in my life.” He took a couple of shaky steps toward me. His shoes and socks lay in a discarded pile against the wall, soaked red with the blood. I couldn't take my eyes off the print left by his foot, a dark smudge on the area of clean floor behind him. “Charles…?”

There were other footprints-‘messy, scattered marks on the floor beyond the display case. They weren't all his. A large huddled object lay against the right-hand wall, half hidden behind the furniture. That area, too, was covered in blood. It wasn't an object, of course it wasn't. I was ashamed to have thought of it like one of my exhibits.

It was a body. The body of another young man, even paler, even more disturbed. Even more still.

Compromising Prudence, my Regency novella will be released July 21 from Aspen Mountain Press’ new Aurora Regency line.

Compromising Prudenceis a light-hearted Regency romp with no spies, no blue-stockings, and no evil villains lurking about.

Prudence Wemberly is desperate. Her reputation has been damaged by a cowardly suitor and her overbearing father will disown her when he finds out about it. She musters her courage and flees to the house of the most notorious courtesan in London. If she’s ruined, why not become a courtesan herself and have a little fun for a change? It sounds like a reasonable idea-‘after she has her third glass of sherry.

Charles Hatterly only wants to pursue his passion for ornithology, but his family expects him to marry and manage the family estates. He needs to find a well-behaved girl who will be content to marry him-‘and then leave him alone.

For a gentleman scientist in need of a wife and a ruined miss in need of a future, there is an obvious solution. If Prudence and Charles can make it to the altar despite their meddling families, unscrupulous rakes and the brewing scandal that has the ton talking, they just might find more than they bargained for. Can true love bloom amid the catastrophes that arise from compromising Prudence?

I have a book coming out at Loose Id on July 20th called Twice Her Age. It is one of the woman’s fantasy books showcased this year.

Blurb: Sometimes age really doesn’t matter.

The sky crackled, and more rain fell down on top of Debbie and Mick. She ran barefoot across the wet grass in the park, pulling Mick behind her with one hand and holding her heels in the other.

“What exactly are we doing out here getting soaked and ruining our clothes?” Mick asked.

“You'll find out.” She peered over her shoulder and snorted. “You should see yourself. I think your suit is ruined.”

“You think?” He tugged at her hand. “We're already wet. We might as well walk.”

She adjusted her grip on his hand. “It's right up there.” She pointed. “My dad used to bring me here years ago when I thought I wanted to be a famous singer.”

“It looks like the rest of the park.” He shook his head, sending raindrops flying.

“That's what they want you to think. They are evil that way.” She stopped, gazed off in the distance, and then pulled Mick over a little. “Stand right there.” She squeezed his arm. “There. Perfect. Don't move.”

She skipped a few yards away. “Okay, now sing.”

    “What?” He chuckled.

“You need to sing. You'll see what happens. It's way cool… Just do it.” She nodded.

“I don't sing.” He crossed his arms.

“Stop being a wuss.” She planted her fists on her hips. “Sing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.'”

He glared, and the corner of his lip came up in a snarl. “No.”

Stomping the ground, she let out a big sigh. “I guess I'll have to resort to drastic measures.” She leaned over and pulled the hem of her short black evening dress over her head. “Will you do it now?”

Mick cocked his eyebrow in challenge.

Debbie unclasped the front of her bra and tossed it on top of her dress. She fought the wet material of her panties down her legs and stepped out of them. “Now?”

Mick scoffed and faked a yawn.

“Fine. What can I do to make you sing?” She wrapped her arms around her breasts and shivered. “Hurry and make up your mind. I'm freezing.”

“On the ground?” She wrinkled her nose.
    “It's muddy and wet.”

That eyebrow of his lifted again. “Crawl.”

    “But –”

    “Crawl.” He nodded. “Slowly.”

I have two books coming out in the next 10 days or so. Yikes!

First up is Fall of a State on June 30, from Dreamspinner Press, a M/M novella set in China during the Western Han dynasty.

The desire of an emperor… Bored with his usual palace musicians, the emperor Liu Che is tempted by a new song from lowly qin-player Li Yan Nian. Yan Nian is also beautiful, and Liu Che is in the mood to take a new lover. His lovers usually come to him, but Yan Nian’s shy reticence intrigues the emperor.

The yearning of a man… Yan Nian has been in love with the emperor since he entered the palace. Regardless of his heart, he made a promise on his father's deathbed to use his musical skills to bring his beloved younger sister to the emperor’s attention. However, Lady Li has no intention of becoming an imperial concubine.

The danger of love… An attack at a victory celebration heralds an attempt on the emperor’s life, and desire and yearning collide when it’s revealed there may be no way to protect all the hearts threatened by a plot to overthrow the state.

Then on July 7 there’s Basilisk from Torquere Press, a M/M contemporary paranormal novella set in London.

When his dream man walks into his lunch-break wearing tight snakeskin jeans, Clayton King puts down his sandwich and follows his libido. Clayton tracks his guy to a pet shop and leaves with a name – Anthony – and a date for that night. What Anthony neglects to tell him is that they’re going to a fancy dress party, and Clayton is the only normal guy in a hall full of Greek gods.

Except it’s not a fancy dress party, and Anthony isn’t simply a shop assistant. He’s a basilisk, the shape-shifting king lizard of Greek mythology who can kill a mortal with a single glance. It’s his task to seduce human men so his mother, the goddess Echidna, may feed upon their flesh. Though trapped by his duty to his mother, Anthony can’t bear the thought of harming Clayton. What’s a god to do?

My sexy summer read The Festival Spirit is released by Total E-Bound on 19 July… which should be just about when the wait until next year’s Glastonbury seems very unreasonable!

The only way to save the man everyone wants is to claim him for himself.

Johnny’s well-known for his uninhibited performances, and his electrifying show at the summer’s biggest music festival leaves fellow popstar Mira desperate for a more intimate performance. It looks like her lust will finally be satisfied — and if his bandmate Lee wants to join them, so much the better.

But Mira’s not the only one who wants Johnny. A greedy fairy queen, angry that the festival is being held in her realm, takes the submission frontman captive. Armed only with the power of her own passion, Mira must face the dangers of an enchanted forest — and confront her darkest desires — in order to take him back for herself.

This erotic adventure is one of Total E-Bound’s Sultry Solstice themed stories.

    Dexter: Honorable Cowboy
    July 2010
    Romantic Times Magazine
    Rating ★★★★ ½ Top Pick!

Thomas' characters are wonderful and colorful,
and readers will enjoy Dexter's struggle to do the honorable thing– Pat Cooper

For This Cowboy, Family Comes First
Josie Charles was back in town, and Dexter Cody desired her as much as ever. She was his twin brother's girl, but it was hard to act honorable when all he wanted was to stake his claim on the woman and her boy. Sooner or later, his brother was going to step up and do the right thing. And when that time came, would Dexter be able to step aside and lose Josie all over again?

No way was Josie losing her heart to the sexy-as-all-get-out rancher. The last thing the single mother needed was another Cody messing with her life. But her high school pal had sure grown into one fine-looking cowboy. Caring. Hardworking. Responsible. Exactly the kind of man she'd want to be a father to her son.

Which one is the right brother? Looks as if there's going to be a showdown…

Book 2 in the first-ever six-book continuity for Harlequin American Romance…The Codys:First Family of Rodeo.

    Hello all!

I’m excited about my new BDSM erotic romance Deep In The Woods coming out July 16th at Ellora’s Cave.

Deep In The Woods is a book really dear to my heart. It takes on the whole issue of “How far is too far?” in BDSM, and how to come back from the edge once you've found it. The heroine, Sophie, needs to rebuild her life after a predator-type Dominant abuses her so badly that she has post-traumatic stress disorder issues. Her new Dominant, Dave, is still strict and exacting, but he understands her fragility, and the way he protects her in their fledgling relationship is very sweet and sexy.

But the old abuser is still not totally out of the picture, and when issues come to a head, there is danger and yet redemption. I'm really proud of this story. It's deeply emotional and thought-provoking at times, but still sexy and funny and romantic. I hope you'll check out the blurb and excerpt here!

Thanks for the opportunity to talk about my newest book!
