Happy April Fool’s Day

The April Fool’s jokes started early last night.  Google always participates and this year pulls out a fantastic 8 BIT NES Google Maps.

Google maps

The following video shows you how to use the cartridge. Blowing on the teeth of the cartridge is an important part of the installation process.

Sarah Wendell went old school at the Smart Bitches. Nothing beats auto play Fabio.

Dear Author’s April Fool’s Day was a kickstarter.

Jane Litte is the founder of Dear Author, a lawyer, and a lover of pencil skirts. She self publishes NA and contemporaries (and publishes with Berkley and Montlake) and spends her downtime reading romances and writing about them. Her TBR pile is much larger than the one shown in the picture and not as pretty. You can reach Jane by email at jane @ dearauthor dot com

OMG, I was completely fooled! I knew today was the first of April, but totally forgot about April Fool’s Day!!!!

I was literally slack-jawed when I read the whole contribution to your shoes and handbags appreciation. LOL! and then this entire bit, “I could do this on my own but I don’t want to so contribute in the ongoing success of Dear Author. ”

Good job, Jane! You definitely had me there! Doh! Great great great way to start off 4/1 today! :)

Heh! And I would beg for contributions to own that bag.

The best, but I think unintentional joke was today’s email ad from Yves Rocher — with a ‘scratch and sniff’ promotion.

    Excellent, Happy April Fool’s Day.

@Sarah Frantz: Yeah, poor Sarah, those damn cover models like Fabio are soooo undependable.

@Milena: All I got was their maintenance page, too. Maybe Fabio brought in too much traffic and crashed the servers ;-)

You got me!I spent a good three minutes clicking, re-clicking, re-reading, thinking “WTF happened here? Didn’t she just tell someone the other day that they didn’t need to send a contribution, that ads were doing well?” OK- need coffee to wake up before any more April Fools hit. Thanks for the early morning laugh ;-)

See, you could have had an easy $250 donation from me — I would LOVE to have a pair of shoes named after me :-) Happy April Fool’s Day.

My April Fool’s Day always starts with the thought: I wonder what Jane and Sarah will get up to this year? Thanks for being so d.a.m.n. clever.

Oh man. You and SB Sarah got me so good!

I went to SBTB and this thought process ensued: “I should’ve complimented her when she updated the webdesign a few months ago! I really liked it! but okay… I can work with this web design.. I guess… WAIT why can’t I click on anything??..! Argh. Okay. Off to Dear Author… Oh HOLY Crap!!! (but *crestfallen* I thought I was helping… I buy using Jane’s Amazon links…) crap, crap, crap. How will I waste time now?!?!”

Jane, OMG! As soon as I saw the site, I was rolling on the floor! I think it really should have been ‘Haute D.A.M.N.’!

I literally stared at the screen for a few moments going “Huh? Jane has a shoe and handbag habit?” Then it finally hit me. LOL

This would have been a really good year to pull the “honey I’m pregnant” joke on my husband: we had our third child six months ago and he’s getting a vasectomy on Friday. Maybe I can do it next year and open with “I think your urologist messed up.”

I was so totally fooled. I was on very late last night (after midnight) and so it didn’t dawn on me for a long while that it was April Fool’s. I was thinking… ok… didn’t they just do a post about kickstarters? And then as I read on and found out it was a kickstarter to fuel Jane’s shoe addiction, the light bulb finally clicked on. It’s dim but finally on : D

Too funny… I’m so totally jealous cuz I can’t do an April Fool’s joke to save my life.

I’m just waiting for SBTB to come back to the present – right now I’m still getting the sparkly geocities version (which is lovely, of course – takes me back to teaching web design in the 90s)
