DA Downtime
Dear Author is going to move to a new server this weekend that will provide (hopefully) faster access with greater reliability. However, because it will take time to switch the domain names and for those domain names to repopulate, we are going to take DA offline from Friday night until Saturday night or Sunday (depending on when and how long the change will take).
So if you visit DA Friday or Saturday and it doesn’t spring up immediately, don’t be alarmed. Plus, you should be over at the dabwaha.com blog voting anyway.

Does this mean no First Page Saturday this week? :( I love First Page Saturday!

Er, not to be all negative. Hooray for new servers!

@Bibliotrek: My hope is that we will be online by Saturday. If not, then Sunday and we can post the First Page on Sunday.

DA Down? Bad. Faster access and greater reliability: Yay. Don’t comment much anymore. Life is way too hectic lately. But I always need my DA fix.

Nooooooooooooooo. What will I read when I am supposed to be writing? You’re my favorite procrastination destination. But I guess i can handle two days or so. Happy new server day!

I’m going to miss the site when its down. Reading DA is my daily ritual.

Good luck with the move. Hope things go as smoothly as possible.

@library addict: Yes, this exactly! Best of luck!

Did you leave Esosoft then, if you need a DNS propagation?
Mar 17, 2011 @ 18:38:31
@GrowlyCub: Yep, to powervps or vpspower (Can’t remember exactly).

Good luck Jane. I just did a big site conversion to a new server last week. No fun! We went from a standard service package to a hosted virtual server and saw major improvement in speed. Be sure to re-check your email addresses when you are live, we had some issues that required the mail exchange to be modified. Hopefully it will be quick, but that depends on your ISP.

Yay for a new server…but I really don’t know what I’m going to do without DA for 2 days. I check this blog AT LEAST 5 times a day. It’s like book crack.
Mar 17, 2011 @ 21:43:21
Good luck with the switch! Hopefully it will be a smooooooooth transaction.
Mar 17, 2011 @ 22:13:39
Good luck! Hoping DA will be back up and running in a blink!

I don’t comment much, but I’m always checking in to see what’s up. But I’ll comment now just to wish you a smooth transition. This kind of thing always makes the nerves jump a bit, right?

I agree with Sarah Mayberry – procrastination destination supreme.
Hope all goes well.

No matter which link I try (including just Googleing) I’ve been unalbe to access dabwaha.com. Everything else is working for me so I’m wondering if anyone else is having dabwaha access issues?? :-(
Mar 18, 2011 @ 12:59:08
Or…unable to access…sigh.
