SHALADOR'S LADY BY ANNE BISHOP
I've said it before and I'll say it again-’Anne Bishop is really special. Her Black Jewels novels are intense and sensual and both her anti-heroes and the way she turns fantasy tropes on their heads made her books groundbreaking when they first came out. SHALADOR'S LADY continues the story of Lady Cassidy, the Rose-Jeweled Queen who is striving to restore her land (and struggling to believe in herself). If you've read Anne Bishop before, then you know it's unusual for her to feature a character with a lighter-colored (and less powerful) jewel. In both this book and the previous story about Lady Cassidy, THE SHADOW QUEEN, I love how Anne is exploring what it really means to be a Queen (a witch who rules the Blood, and is considered to be the land's heart and the Blood's moral center). It's not just about how much fire power you've got.
FIRST TRUTH by Dawn Cook
Dawn is most known for the terrific urban fantasy she writes under the name Kim Harrison (I'm looking forward to digging into BLACK MAGIC SANCTION myself). So not as many people are aware of the wonderful traditional fantasy novels she wrote as Dawn Cook. We are reissuing them with beautiful new covers, and FIRST TRUTH is kicking it off. It's a romantic fantasy, about Alissa, a young woman who never believed in magic. But her mother insists she's inherited her father's magical ability and must go to the Hold-’the only place her talents can be trained. As she learns to use her powers, she also finds love with a wandering musician. The style of these books is necessarily different from the Kim Harrison novels, but readers who also enjoy traditional fantasy should have a great time. There are three more books in the Truth series, and they will be released in May, July, and September.
April 2010
HELL FIRE by Ann Aguirre
This is the latest in Ann's Corine Solomon books, a terrific urban fantasy series about a woman who can touch an object and know its history. Corine's voice is tremendous and whether the book takes place in the southwest (BLUE DIABLO) or the steamy south, the setting comes alive. In HELL FIRE, Corine leaves Texas to go back home to Kilmer, Georgia, in order to discover the truth behind her mother's death and the origins of her "gift". Her ex-boyfriend Chance (who doesn't want to be her "ex") is there as well, having promised to lend his particularly supernatural brand of luck to Corine's search. (Fun fact: all the book titles in this series are tequila cocktails. I'm not a drinker, but the internet is an amazing research tool!)
SILVER BORNE by Patricia Briggs
I am so excited for you to read the next Mercy Thompson novel! If you're new to the series, Mercy is a car mechanic (and shapeshifter). She lives in a world of vampires, werewolves, fae and witches, and while humans are aware preternatural beings exist ever since some of the more "harmless" fae came out, what humans know is only the tip of the iceberg. It's so hard to know how much to tell you about the book itself since I don't want to spoil anyone. I'll just say that SILVER BORNE starts off with Mercy getting the message that she needs to return a book of fae lore to the person she borrowed it from, but things quickly become more complicated when Mercy finds out her werewolf friend, Samuel, is in trouble and she needs to go to the hospital where he works to help him. There are some scenes in this one between Mercy and Adam, her mate, that made my heart skip a beat, they were so emotionally intense. This is a wonderful series, with characters who grow and change, and a world that keeps getting richer with each book.
May 2010
DEAD IN THE FAMILY by Charlaine Harris
DEAD IN THE FAMILY is the much anticipated new novel in Charlaine's Sookie Stackhouse series, the basis for the HBO series TRUE BLOOD. The Sookie books have a lot of heart and thanks to you, wonderful readers, they've come a long way since the first in the series, DEAD UNTIL DARK, was published in 2001 as an Ace original paperback. Being an Eric fan, here's the tidbit from the cover copy of DEAD IN THE FAMILY that caught my attention:
Sookie is hurt and she's mad. Just about the only bright spot in her life-’besides the fact that she is, after all, still alive-’is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman, who is under scrutiny by the new vampire king because of their relationship.
BEWITCHED & BETRAYED by Lisa Shearin
If you think "sexy goblin" is a misnomer, than you've never read Lisa Shearin. Lisa writes traditional fantasy with a modern attitude, and the story is told in the sassy first person voice of Raine Benares, an elf sorceress who got stuck with an artifact of unimaginable power (that unfortunately eats souls). Whoever controls Raine, controls the artifact, and all this constant running and fighting to get away from the people after her is really putting a damper on her life. On top of that she's got an elf paladin and a goblin mage vying for her affections. There are significant relationship developments in this one-’you won't want to miss it!
THE SWEET SCENT OF BLOOD by Suzanne McLeod
First in a brand-new urban fantasy series, this is about Genevieve Taylor, a sidhe-’one of the noble fae-’and she's unusual even in a London where celebrity vampires, eccentric goblins, and scheming lesser fax mix freely with humanity. She's also a rising star at Spellcrackers.com, where she finds the "M" in magic-’which can mean anything from mischief to malice to murder.
GHOSTS & ECHOES by Lyn Benedict
This is the next book about Sylvie Lightner, an unlicensed PI working out of Miami who specializes in cases involving the magicus mundi, i.e. things that go bump in the night. Sylvie wants an easy case this time, something straightforward, so she agrees to investigate a series of thefts in her area-’but nothing is as simple as it seems. The plot involves Hands of Glory, Sylvie's teenage sister, and coming back from the dead, and it's fantastic. (I personally find hands of glory incredibly creepy, and I was getting chills, in a good way.) This is an excellent series, well worth a try if you like your urban fantasy on the dark side.

Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:12:14
Patricia Briggs’ Silver Borne and Suzanne McLeod’s The Sweet Scent of Blood, please.
My favorite Ace/Roc book? Choosing one is impossible, but how about Moira J. Moore’s Resenting the Hero?
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:12:37
My first choice would be Lisa Shearin, my second Patricia Briggs. As for adding to your list…I’m a huge Rob Thurman fan, and the first book (Nightlife) got me hooked.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:14:41
The two books I would want are Silver Borne and Dead in the Family…
So my favorite ACE/ROC book…hmm..I really love the Mercy Thompson series or Sookie Stackhouse but one of my favourite books 2009 was On the Edge by Illona Andrews.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:17:10
I’m with Jade, but I think Madhouse was my favorite Rob Thurman book so far. : )
My pics would be either Silver Borne or Dead in the Family.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:17:46
My top 2 choices would be Silver Borne – Patrica Briggs and Hell Fire – Ann Aguire
One of my favoriteS is Night Child by Jes Battis. It’s lesser known, but it’s like Buffy meets CSI, and filled with great supporting characters. I’m
eagerly awaiting the third book in the series, which comes out in May.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:18:09
#1 would be Silver Borne because I love the Mercy Thompson series so much!
#2 would be GHOST & ECHOES by Lyn Benedict because I’ve heard good things about this series. I have the first book but haven’t read it yet though :)
I’m not sure how I could pick just one favorite Ace/Roc book though. I do love Rob Thurman’s Cal Leandros series though and just picked up the latest book ROADKILL yesterday!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:19:07
First Anne Bishop’s Shalador’s Lady and Ann Aguirre’s Hell Fire
My favorite Ace so far is Ann Aguirre’s Grimspace. I can’t wait to read Wanderlust. I hear it’s great!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:19:37
O.M.G. I would give my DH’s left kidney for Ann Aguirre’s Hell Fire and Patricia Briggs’ Silver Borne
I am a huge Ilona Andrews fan. If you haven’t read their work, you should.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:20:35
Shalador’s Lady because Anne Bishop is the cat’s pajamas, and Silver Borne because I love Mercy. She’s such a wonderful character without going all Mary Sue.
Fave Ace/Roc book. Hm. Leaving aside Anne Bishop and Patricia Briggs, I’d go with Faith Hunter’s Rogue Mage books, starting with Bloodring. Which, btw, I think is wildly underappreciated. I pimp it everywhere.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:22:13
Out of the list my first choice would be Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs, and second choice would be Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre.
My favorite Ace/Roc novel would be Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. That novel started me onto more supernatural adult series’ and it’s also written very well.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:23:44
The top two for me would be The Sweet Scent of Blood and Dead in the Family. To be honest though, I love them all! :-D
My favorite? You mean I have to pick just one? Well besides the Sookie Stackhouse series…I love Greywalker by Kat Richardson.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:28:22
So many great books already on pre-order at Amazon. I hope to read some on Kindle and some I will get the book so I can share with my daughter.
My first two choices would be:
Hellfire by Ann Aguirre and
Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs-love Mercy
Can’t wait for the others also
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:29:43
My top two would be Silver Borne and Hell Fire.
My favorite Ace/Roc book would have to be Grimspace by Ann Aguirre
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:33:52
My first two choices are definitely #1 Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs and #2 Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin. (Tough choice on #2)
It would be almost impossible for me to choose my favorites from the Ace/Roc list, but ANYTHING by Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, or Karen Chance is an auto-buy and has NEVER disappointed me!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:37:31
Silver Borne please!!! Lovin’ me some Mizzz Briggs!!!
Anything by Illona Andrews would be great too! Basically anything you want to give me. I’m easy.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:38:41
My first pick would be Patricia Brigg’s Silver Borne, second an ARC of Ann Aguirre’s Hell Fire.
My favourite Ace/Roc book is Karen Chance’s Curse the Dawn.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:41:01
My picks are Sweet Scent of Blood and Ghosts and Echoes.
For a favorite, how about On the Edge by Ilona Andrews. Loved, loved, loved it.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:44:27
I pick Silver Borne and Shalador’s Lady Briggs and Bishop never fail to wow me with their stories. I love their characters!
Choosing my favourite Ace/Roc book is impossible. There are so many great books in their backlist. However, Ilona Andrews is my favourite author these days.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:47:04
#1 would be Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre, for sure. #2, Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin.
I have a LOT of favourites from Ace, looking at my bookshelves. The Samaria series by Sharon Shinn, particularly #4, Angelica, Summers at Castle Auburn by the same author and Grimspace by Ann Aguirre. My copies are totally battered from so many re-reads.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:47:16
Silver Borne; I’m totally ensnared by Patricia Briggs; I’m the proud owner of a “from new” copy of her very first book.
First Truth, because it’s the first of a series, so I can go from ground zero and learn the rules of magic of this world with the character.
Favorite (non Patricia Briggs) Roc/Ace would be “Covenants” by Lorna Freeman. I read it five times before I could bear to let anyone else borrow it. Not only the juxtaposition of a vegetarian as a soldier, but the whole exuberant enjoyment of the whole world drew me in and make me anxious for each succeeding book.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:48:29
1. Silver Borne 2. First Truth
Is it bad of me to say I don’t usually pay attention to the publisher? However, looking at the above responses, I would have to agree with AlexD about Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. Love it and it has led me to Briggs, Andrews, Harris, Thurman and probably others I don’t know are part of Ace/Roc. Will have to start checking this out :)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:49:40
Silver Borne and Hell Fire would be my picks.
Favorite Ace book? Hmm, maybe Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews. Or Roadkill by Rob Thurman, which I’m just finishing up. If you haven’t tried the Cal Leandros series yet, I’d recommend it. Love Cal as narrator.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:50:44
All of these look great, and I’d love to start a new series. Hell Fire and Silver Borne both look like they’d be a good choice for me.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:50:47
I’d like either #1: Hell Fire; or #2: Ghosts and Echos. All of these sound like great reads, several will have to be added to my to read list.
As for my favorite ACE/ROC book, at the moment I’d say White Knight by Jim Butcher.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:51:49
1. Silver Borne 2. First Truth
Mar 03, 2010 @ 12:54:26
1. Silver Borne 2. First Truth
Is it too bad of me to admit I don’t usually pay attention to publishers? However, after looking at the above messages, I agree with AlexD about Ill Wind by Rachel Caine. This book led me to Briggs, Andrews, Thurman, Butcher, and probably others I didn’t know were from Ace/Roc. Will have to check my books :)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:00:12
I loved Dawn Cook’s Princess series and adore her Kim Harrison books. I didn’t know they were written by the same person! I haven’t tried the truth series and I would really like to.
I’ve also enjoyed the Sookie books, so I’d like Dead in the Family too.
My latest favorite books by Ace have been the Codex Alera Series by Jim Butcher. I was sad to see it end.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:02:21
My book picks are Silver Borne and Dead in the Family because I am thoroughly hooked on both of these series.
My favorite ACE/ROC books? Other than the above I would say the anthologies edited by Toni L.P. Kelner and Charlaine Harris.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:03:30
1. Silver Borne
2. Hell Fire
My favorite Ace book is Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. It is probably one of my top five books of all time.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:03:41
I) Dead In The Family
Fave Ace – Dead Until Dark for starting my downward spiral.
I’m only here for the Harris (Ok, I’m here all the time, but this specific comment….) I discovered the cracktastic nature of her books from a library sale featuring the first one and ended up buying all of the series and another before the weekend was over. Then I passed that first one off to a pal with apologies in advance.
I don’t know what my second one would be. I buy 20 books a month on average (counting for kids, gifts) and I almost never get paranormal. When paranormal was rare (early 90′s, late 80′s) I loved them – but I haven’t warmed to sci-fi romance mixes since (except Harris & Shinn) So my second choice would be whatever you think I’d like. Open my eyes to what I’m missing.
AFTER feeding my Harris problem. I have blogged on my inability to resist her, I have tried to hand sell her books to people thinking they want to buy Twilight in the Target store on my Cheerios run. I can easily say no to True Blood, but Sookie in print? Not even a little bit. Hook a girl up!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:07:02
To choose the two is difficult but, I already own First Truth (2002 edition)and The Sweet Smell of Blood and have pre-ordered both Silver Borne and Bewitched and Betrayed, so of those remaining I would chose Hell Fire (which I had forgotten was out soon) and Shalador’s Lady.
With regard to my favourite Ace/Roc title, choosing one is impossible – even choosing one series is damned difficult so I think I’ll name a series that hasn’t been mentioned yet – the Ravirn series by Kelly McCullough, with my favourite being book 3, Codespell.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:07:26
Hell Fire and Ghosts & Echoes are my top picks. And my favourite Ace/Roc series is probably Rachel Caine’s Weather Wardens.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:15:47
My first choice is Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs, second choice is First Truth by Dawn Cook.
Favorite Roc/Ace book….tough to pick. Let’s say Brigg’s Cry Wolf, ’cause I’ve just been re-reading it.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:18:37
Silver Borne and Hell Fire.
Favorite Ace/Roc book — “Moon Called” by Briggs and “Over the Edge” by Andrews.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:22:12
The first choice Dawn Cook anything by Kim Harrison is auto buy for me. Second Bewitched & Betrayed by Lisa Shearin.MY favorite Ace/Roc Nightlife by Rob Thurman now this I would give up chocolate for her books any time.Wow just got the shakes thinking about giving up a life saving item chocolate.Gee Easters coming and all those Bunny ears I think Iam heading into a suger coma just thinking about it.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:31:57
I would love Shalador’s Lady or Silver Borne.
My favourite Ace/Roc author is Guy Gavriel Kay, and if I had to choose a favourite (which is really hard), it would be Tigana.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:34:13
My top two picks are:
Dead in the Family- Charlaine Harris
Silver Borne- Patricia Briggs
My favorite Ace/Roc book is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:39:05
I’d love Silver Borne by Patrica Briggs since Mercy kicks ass :D
And FIRST TRUTH by Dawn Cook looks great, I am a huge fantasy addict.
As for favs, so many to go for, but I’ll choose Patrica Briggs Moon Called cos it made me love UF
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:41:17
I already have the Patricia Briggs on order because I love the whole Mercy Thompson series.
“Bewitched and Betrayed” by Lisa Shearin and “Hell Fire” by Ann Aquirre sound great.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:48:56
Of course I am dying to get my hands on an early copy of Patricia Briggs’ book but I really enjoyed Blue Diablo and cant wait for number 2. Also the Dawn Cook book looked really good. hmmm ok i will go with
1. Dawn Cook- First Truth
2. Ann Aguire- Hell Fire
My favorite has to be the Patricia Briggs books …
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:54:11
Lisa Shearin’s “Bewitched and Betrayed” and Charlaine Harris’ “Dead in the family” would be my two choices. There so many ACE/Roc authors I read because I love science fiction but the most recent favorite would have to be Charlaine Harris’s “Dead and Gone”. I was so thrilled when Eric and Sookie finally got together and quit hiding their feelings.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 13:57:47
I’d love First Truth and Dead in the Family!
Favorite would be Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:01:51
1. Charlaine Harris, Dead in the Family
2. Patricia Briggs, Silver Borne
Hmm. Favorite? If I have to chose just one, probably Cry Wolf, by Patricia Briggs.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:03:19
I must say that the new Sookie Book is a must read for me! I can’t wait for that one but I also NEED NEED NEED to read the new Mercy Thompson book! These book series are sooo addicting!!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:05:46
My #1 book would have to be Dead in the Family because Charlaine Harris is the shit,(excuse my french)and since all her newer books are out in $20 something hardbacks, i’d have to wait till it came out in paperback to read it. My #2 book would have to be A Sweet Scent of Blood. I’ve always been fascinated by the sidhe and would love to try out this series. Hopefully it doesn’t have shades of Merry Gentry and her pocket penis harem. Not that I mind pocket penis harems on rainy days. My favorite Ace/Roc book is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. There is rarely a series that titilates and entertains me as much as her Sookie Stackhouse series. It has everything(romance, mystery, humor, paranomal) and they mesh seamlessly which is hard to pull off imo.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:13:17
Picks are Shalador’s Lady and Silver Borne.
Fav Ace/Roc book is anything by Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:14:58
I would pick Silver Borne and The Sweet Scent of Blood.
As to a favorite. I dont think its possible to pick just one, there are so many great ones. Rachel Caines Weather Wardens, the rest of Patricia Briggs Mercy series, Rob Thurmans books, the orginial Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop and many many more
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:15:08
Would love Silver Bourne or Bewitched & Betrayed.
For those who like fantasy the Dawn Cook books (the Truth series and Princess series) are both good.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:16:08
My favorite ACE author is Charlaine Harris-’I love all her Sookie books, they just keep getting better and better. Of course, my first choice is her “Dead in the Family.†My second choice is a new author for me-’Suzanne McLeod's “The Sweet Scent of Blood†sounds too good to pass up! Thanks.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:17:17
#1 Bewitched and Betrayed because Lisa Shearin is amazing!
#2 Shalador’s Lady, as I’ve just recently read through all of the other Black Jewel novels.
I’d say my favorite Ace/Roc book would have to be Magic Lost, Trouble Found. I’ve read it over and over!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:17:22
My wish list would have to be BEWITCHED & BETRAYED by Lisa Shearin and SHALADOR'S LADY BY ANNE BISHOP, although it is a really toough call, but these are two of my favorite others and I really enjoy the others too. Magic Lost and Trouble FOund and The Shadow Queen are two of my favorite books first is by Lisha Shearin and the second is by Anne Bishop. So if its ok I have a tie since they are completely different and equally wonderful.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:25:14
My favorite Ace authors are Charlaine Harris, Ann Aguirre (Doubleblind) and Patricia Briggs (Bone Crossed).
Would love to read Silver Borne or Hell Fire.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:25:38
Well, winning SILVER BORNE would save me some money and I wouldn’t mind trying FIRST TRUTH. The Harrison books are too dark for me maybe I’d have more luck with Cook.
My favorite Ace books are the Alpha Menz series by Ilona Andrews. ;)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:27:16
What a great list. It is hard to choose two, I read most of these authors.
Either Silver Borne or Bewitched and Betrayed would be my top choices I guess.
I read a lot of writers published by Ace. At the moment my favorites are Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs, followed closely by Lisa Shearin and Jim Butcher. Oh and then there is Ann Aguirre- this is just too hard!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:30:07
Ooo! Ooo! Bewitched & Betarayed and Shalador’s Lady, for sure! As for a favorite, um, that’s a cruel thing to ask, for just one. My world would not go around quite right without the two incredibly talented ladies I just mentioned, so any and all of their books definitely apply here. Oh, and Ann Aguirre’s Sirantha Jax is phenomenal. It’s always an excruciating wait for the next book in that series.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:30:32
Wow, all sound really good. But, I’d have to go with my two favorites from the list: Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris and Ghosts and Echoes by Lyn Benedict. As for a favorite Ace/Roc author? Definitely Rob Thurman with Trick of the Light, the first in the Trickster books. I keep waiting and waiting for another Trickster book……
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:40:37
Gotta be Silver Borne and Hell Fire. Other favorite Ace/Roc books are Ilona Andrews Magic series and Rachel Caine’s WEather Wardens :)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:41:41
I’d have to say Hell Fire and Silver Borne from that list! Others that I enjoy are Ilona Andrews series and Rachel Caine’s Weather Wardens.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:42:09
Well there is Lisa Shearin and hmmm Lisa Shearin. Sorry but Lisa is totally awesome & wickedly funny. Just when I think the Raine books can’t possibly get better Lisa prooves me wrong…. however, waiting a year between books should be ruled by the Supreme Court as cruel and unusual punishment!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:49:15
Silver Borne and The Sweet Scent of Blood.
Simon R. Green’s Something from the Nightside-hands down one of the best fantasy finds I discovered last year. The Nightshade series caught my attention, and since Green also has several other series going on, it’s been a lot of fun to get them all and just get lost in the story.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 14:51:26
I’d love Bewitched & Betrayed and Silver Borne. Current favorite Roc book is Roadkill by Rob Thurman, which I’m going back to reading now. ^___^
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:00:39
Hmmm, my first two would be The Sweet Scent of Blood or Bewitched & Betrayed. Always looking for new books/authors to read!
Picking my favorite book would be hard, you guys have great authors! But I’d go with the Magic series by Ilona Andrews.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:05:41
There’s a lot of great stuff here, but I think I have to submit to the Sookie. Mmm, Eric, mmm…
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:07:08
My picks are Shalador's Lady and Silver Borne.
My favorite ACE/ROC books are Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels trilogy and Briggs’ Alpha & Omega series starting with Cry Wolf.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:07:41
I love to have the new one The sweet scent of blood and betrayed and bewitched!!
My favorite ace/roc books would probably be barb and j.c hendee series sister of the dead!! I love those books!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:08:19
Holy cow! I didn’t know Dawn Cook was Kim Harrison. I LOVED Princess at Sea (and the book prior to it). So that would be my rec although I don’t know if Ace/ROC has those too.
I’d love to check out Hell Fire (really enjoyed the first one) and Sweet Scent of Blood.
Thanks!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:08:39
Is this open internationally? I hope so! In case it is, here’s my entry.
I am a huge Lisa Shearin fan, so Bewitched and Betrayed is one of my choices! And as most of the others are in the middle of series I’ve not yet started, I’m going to go with First Truth by Dawn Cook for my second choice!
My favourite author is Lisa Shearin! Her books is unbelievably awesome; high fantasy, but with a very modern, sarcastic tone. Love her novels!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:09:54
Oh man, all I can say is this is an AMAZING line up! Like standing in front of a candy store, they all look so dang good!
But, I’d have to say Lisa Shearin and Patricia Briggs would be my top two choices. I absolutly love the worlds these two amazing authors have created. And my fav all time Ace/Roc book would have to be Magic Lost, Trouble Found by the talented Lisa Shearin. It was the first book I’d read in a very long time where my immediate thought was- does this author have MORE?! (Sadly, since I found it before the rest had come out, the answer at that time was no ;)).
Thanks so much Anne- you have a great group of authors!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:12:58
I absolutely love Patricia Briggs. I wait impatiently for her books to be releast each year. Lisa Shearin is also a ‘must buy’ for me.
I’m a huge, huge fan of Ilona Andrews. Just love urban fiction…hardly read anything else theses days!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:20:13
OMG-This is a hard one since I like a lot of those authors. I would love Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris and Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin.
It’s hard to pick just one favorite-I read a lot of books by ACE/ROC. I already read The Sweet Scent of Blood-I ordered it from across the pond actually and it was really good.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:22:28
First Truth and The Sweet Scent of Blood would be my picks from the list.
In terms of favorite Ace/Roc book? It would be a cage match between Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews (between Kate and Mercy?) and even then I couldn’t pick a single book by whoever wins. Those are two series of books that I always have to pick up on release day.
I would have picked Silver Borne and Dead in the Family but I am addicted to the audiobook versions.
I have to say *smacks forehead* I had no idea Dawn Cook and Kim Harrison were the same person. That just doubled my TBR pile!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:24:01
The two I’m drooling over are Shalador’s Lady and Silver Borne.
Seriously if you like dark fantasy and haven’t read any Anne Bishop pick up the original Black Jewels trilogy. It’s available in one book so it counts as one recommendation ;)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:24:23
I would love to win “The Sweet Scent of Blood” or “Shalador’s Lady” by Anne Bishop
My favorite Roc book is “Nightlife” by Rob Thurman. Cal’s voice had me hooked, and the plot! So great.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:28:46
The two I’m drooling over are Shalador’s Lady and Silver Borne.
Seriously if you like dark fantasy and haven’t read Anne Bishop’s original Black Jewels trilogy you should. It’s available as one book so it counts as one recommendation right?
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:29:17
GHOSTS & ECHOES by Lyn Benedict
and
BEWITCHED & BETRAYED by Lisa Shearin
Never read either author, but the covers are neat and the books sound good.
To be honest, Nora Roberts is the only author I can think of from this publisher that I’ve read, but don’t ask for a title, because I can’t remember right now. I’m determined this year I will try more new to me authors and read more books. So far, my goal is going great. I’ve already read more in the last two months than I did all of last year. I know, it’s sad.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:33:05
I’m a huge omg-squeee fan of Patricia Briggs and Charlaine Harris so I’m of course going with Silver Borne and Dead in the Family.
I’m SO loving Sniegoski’s Where Angels Fear to Thread right now. I think that’s one series that just for some reason doesn’t get enough recognition, or at least it seems to be like that to me but hey, I really like those books! :)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:34:15
I’d like to win:
Shalador’s Lady by Anne Bishop
First Truth by Dawn Cook
though I think that Moira J. Moore’s fantasy ‘Hero’ series is one of my favorites along with John Moore’s fantasy parody books.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:39:39
I’d like:
Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin
(and)
Shalador’s Lady by Anne Bishop
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:45:49
I’d love to win Silver Borne and Hellfire.
My favourite books from this publisher have to be the Jax series. I never thought I would enjoy reading sci-fi but after reading Grimspace, I’m a convert.
Fantastic Giveaway!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:54:08
Submitting in the desperate hope that this is open to international residents. 1. Silver Borne 2. Dead in the Family. Absolutely love Mercy Thompson and Sookie Stackhouse.
My favourite Ace/Roc books that aren’t Patricia Briggs or Charlaine Harris are totally the Ilona Andrews books. I think I love On the Edge a little bit more than Magic Strikes, but ask me again in June, when I’ve read Magic Bleeds, which I’m impatiently awaiting.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:54:25
Most definitely Lisa Shearin and Patricia Briggs.
I went to Penguin to see who to suggest and the list was too long to choose from. Here’s two: Sharon Shinn and Robin McKinley. And, of course, Ursula LeGuin! Two great anthologies are Powers of Detection and Unusual Suspects–good to get you into new authors too.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 15:56:42
FIRST TRUTH / Dawn Cook
SILVER BORNE / Patricia Briggs
I’m so looking forward to Silver Borne! I can’t wait for it!
Fav Ace book got to go with Nightlife by Rob Thurman really blown away by that book.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:05:38
I would choose:
Dead in the Family~Love Sookie & I’ve been w/ her from the get go.
Sweet Scent of Blood~sounds good & I always prefer to start w/ the first.
I LOVE the Remy Chandler series by Thomas Sniegoskie…Picked up A Kiss Before the Apocalypse on an off chance & was a goner. Mean Streets, Dancing on the Head of a Pin, they’re all excellent. I have Where Angels Fear to Tread on the top of my TBR mountain…. I’ve gotten several people hooked on this series!
Thanks for the opportunity..
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:11:19
Hell Fire and Silver Borne are my picks.
As for top read, Ann Aguirre’s Jax series.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:16:25
2 books i want are: Bewitched & Betrayed by Lisa Shearin and Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
Favorite Ace/Roc book is Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:19:42
@Julia:
What Julia said. Exactly.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:20:49
My top two would be Dead in the Family and Silver Borne. I think I started to drool when I saw an ARC of Dead in the Family was up for grabs.
My favorite ACE books are all the Briggs and Harris books. I can’t get enough of either author.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:20:56
I would choose: Bewitched and Betrayed and First Truth
My Ace/Roc favs are Lisa Shearin, Ilona Andrews and Jim Butcher!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:22:43
I’ve have most of these on pre-order! I can’t wait for the next Raine Benares and Mercy Thompson books.
I’m very curious about this new series by Suzanne McLeod though… I went through a little bit of UF overload recently. But I still can’t get into anything else.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:26:07
So many great looking books, such a hard choice. But I would go for Silver Borne (I adore the Mercy Thompson books- my Ace/Roc fav) and Sweet Scent of Blood.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:27:09
1 Silver Borne Patricia Briggs
2 Bewitched and Betrayed Lisa Shearin
I’m not sure I can come up with just one book that is a favorite so, I will tell you to read both of the above authors, Patty has a number of other series that are very good. Try the Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series, they are awesome; and the Cal Leandros series by Rob Thurman; I order all of the above authors as soon as their books are available.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:31:27
What a great list. I keep a calendar just for favorite author book releases, and I’ve been madly entering titles.
First would have to be Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs, followed closely by the new Ann Aguirre novel, Hell Fire. I loved Blue Diablo even more than the Grimspace series.
As for my favorite ACE/ROC book wow. It’s such a strong category, and I always know when the editor is Sowards I get an amazing read. One of my very top choices is Kat Richardson’s Greywalker series. I adored Vanished. Her books just get deeper and richer as the series progresses and her world is seriously creepy.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:31:45
Silver Borne/Patricia Briggs
Dead in the Family/Charlaine Harris
I can’t wait for Ilona Andrews next book, Magic Bleeds. It’s hard to choice a favorite between Patricia Briggs “Mercy Thompson” series and Ilona Andrews “Magic *” series.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:33:17
My first choice would be Silver Borne and my second choice would be Shalador’s Lady.
My favorite Ace/Roc title is Karen Chance’s Cassandra Palmer series starting with Touch the Dark. Also love Patricia Briggs Alpha and Omega series – one of the best!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:46:09
So many good ones…but my first choice would probably have to be Dead in the Family, I mean Sookie Stackhouse rocks!! My second choice would be Lisa Shearin’s Bewitched & Betrayed–Raine is one of the best protagonists that I have read about.
Wow, how to choose my favorite Ace/Roc title…Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels books have to be the best written stories I have read in years. The depth to the characters and the witty dialogue, make them must reads!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:48:00
Shalador’s Lady // Anne Bishop
First Truth // Dawn Cook
I do so love the Alpha & Omega series. :D Thanks for the chance to win!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:51:49
Wow, so many great ones coming out! I’d love to win Hellfire (terrific series!) or Shalador’s Lady (I completely agree with the assessment of Anne Bishop’s writing). My favorite Ace series are the Ravirn books by Kelly McCullough and the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:56:54
I’ve already picked up Shalador’s Lady, so Patricia Briggs or Ann Aguire would be my first choices. I would be interested in reading pretty much anything you’ve listed (except Dawn’s stuff since I picked them up back when they were first released.)
Ilona Andrews, Karen Chance and Rob Thurman would be my suggestions for adding. Waiting impatiently for Ilona’s new book- the teaser she put in the back of ‘On the Edge’ was inspired. And by inspired I mean by Satan. Wicked clever wench.
Thanks for having the contest!
Lassar
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:57:29
I would love to get a copy of Silver Borne (totally cannot wait to read it!) and The Sweet Scent of Blood sounds fascinating.
My favorite Ace/Roc title is a toss up between the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs and the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I reread both series quite regularly!!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:58:06
I am a huge Kim Harrison fan and right now her Black Magic Sanction is one of my faves . I look forward to reading the titles under Dawn Cook. But for my top 2 picks of those listed I would have to go with Silver Borne and Hell Fire. It seems as if I have been waiting forever for these.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 16:59:00
1. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
2. Shalador’s Lady by Ann Bishop
Favorite Ace book? That would have to be Dragon Bones, book one of the Hurog duology by Patricia Briggs. A close second is Magic Stikes by Ilona Andrews.
Both my favorite authors will have new releases this year!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 17:02:38
I’m an extremely HUGE Anne Bishop fan because I just love her Blood series! (Bah, I’ve read her Tir Ailain and Belladonna series too)
I do like Patricia Briggs as well
Mar 03, 2010 @ 17:05:08
Would like to be in the running for Ann Aguirre’s HELL FIRE.
Recently read S. L. Viehl’s STARDOC, and bought the second book. Unfortunately, the rest of the series appears to be out of print, except for the two or three most recent books.
Jes Battis’s NIGHT CHILD is still an Ace/Roc favourite – it’s smart, scientific, and Canadian :-)
Mar 03, 2010 @ 17:18:09

Mar 03, 2010 @ 17:32:45
Silver Borne, by Patricia Briggs
Bewitched and Betrayed, by Lisa Shearin
My favorites? Too long a list, but to narrow a bit: I have loved every single book Rob Thurman has written to date, and Roadkill is looking fantastic, at 2/3 through. Patricia Briggs is always a joy to read, and I’m dying for Silver Borne. I love Moira J. Moore’s Heroes series, and Mark Del Franco’s two series.
Will that do? :) And thank you for the offering.

I have to say that anything written by Lisa Shearin, Patricia Briggs, and Ilona Andrews goes right onto my keeper shelf. I couldn’t choose a favorite!
Mar 03, 2010 @ 18:12:09

Some Ace/Roc books that I would recommend are the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead which has four books so far that are called Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, and Blood Promise. ACE happens to publish my favorite series. The Kate Daniels novels by Illona Andrews.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 20:18:28
I would love the Charlaine Harris (I too am an Eric fan) or the Suzanne McLeod (because I am in the market for something new). As for my favorite this is a difficult one since I almost never know who the publisher of a book is so I am going to second the Cal Leandros Series by Rob Thurman though the Webmage Series by Kelly McCullough also presents a really interesting take on magic.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 20:19:37

Mar 03, 2010 @ 21:04:00
Anne Bishop is a goddess. From the very first Black Jewel book I have been hooked on every single word she writes. I’ve been going to the B’s in the bookstores to check for Shalador’s Lady just in case it magically appears. You never know, it could happen.
I’ve come late to the awesome world of Ann Aguirre. While I haven’t warmed to the Hell Fire series, I can’t get enough of the Grimspace world and I’ve read that series at least three times since first purchasing her books.
My favorite ACE/ROC book? That’s a fairly impossible question.
Moira J. Moore’s books are great. As are Anne’s and Ann’s and a shout out to the brilliant Denise Rossetti. Seriously.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 21:30:46
If my name was picked I would absolutely love to have FIRST TRUTH by Dawn Cook and SILVER BORNE by Patricia Briggs. FIRST TRUTH sounds really interesting and the Mercy Thompson series is one of my favorites.
Another favorite series is Rob Thurman’s Cal Leandros series. I loved DEATHWISH and would recommend the series for anyone who enjoys funny, dark, urban fantasy.

Sorry for the duplicates. When I submitted, it never showed me it finished. It just kept whirring away.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 21:41:11
I’d first love a copy of the Anne Bishop (been reading her since high school!). Then I’d like to try Ann Aguirre, whom I keep hearing good things about!
I’ve read waaaaay too many Roc/Ace books to know my favorite without a giant list, but some of my favs are Patricia McKillip’s, such as Alphabet of Thorn or Song for the Basilisk.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 21:46:04
I would love the patricia briggs or charlaine harris. Anne bishop would normally be my top pick but I already bought a copy for my sony reader at monday midnight and stayed up all night reading it.

I am excited about several of these books. I have read all the Harris books and they are great. If you have not heard then on audio book, you must. All the Sookie books would be my fav Ace books. So much better than the show! I missed the last Briggs book because of it being hardback, so I need to catch up on that series. I am also looking forward to looking up Cook, Shearin, and McLeod. I think i would like to read thier books also.
For the contest I would pick: Cook, Harris or Briggs!

I just finished reading A Kiss Before the Apocalypse by Thomas E. Sniegoski & I loved it!!! I’ll be reading all the Remy Chandler books.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 23:33:16
This is a hard one, as four of my top five authors have books listed above. But given the constraints of choosing only two, I cannot wait to read Bewitched and Betrayed, by Lisa Shearin and Dead in the Family, by Charlaine Harris. These are two of my favorite authors and are always on my MUST READ list.
Now Ace/ROC are the wonder of my reading world – Anne Bishop, Charlaine Harris, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs and Lisa Shearin are my FAVORITE authors. So any one of their books is a must read. If I had to choose one book as my favorite, it would probably be Magic Strikes, by Ilona Andrews
Mar 04, 2010 @ 00:14:57
My top 2 books would be HELL FIRE by Ann Aguirre and DEAD IN THE FAMILY by Charlaine Harris.

Mar 04, 2010 @ 01:12:11
My top two choices would be Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs and Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. My favorite Ace/Roc book is Moon Called by Patricia Briggs.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 01:40:35
My top 3 choices:
SHALADOR'S LADY / Anne Bishop
BEWITCHED & BETRAYED / Lisa Shearin
GHOST & ECHOES / Lyn Benedict
My favorite Ace/Roc book? That’s tough. I’d say anything by Patricia Briggs. (I don’t want to win SILVER BORNE tho since I already preordered! :) )
Mar 04, 2010 @ 01:45:22
My two choices are “Silver Borne” by Patricia Briggs and “Dead in the Family” by Charlaine Harris.
My favorite Ace/Roc book would have to be other than the Mercy Thompson series and Sookie Stackhouse series would be “Curse the Dawn” by Karen Chance.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 02:16:07
My picks are Silver Borne or Dead in the Family. I’ve been reading both of these series since their beginnings and they’re some of my very favorites.
I’m reading Rob Thurman’s Nightlife right now and am absolutely amazed by her worldbuilding. The Cal series has quickly become another one of my fav series.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 02:42:24
Bewitched & Betrayed by Lisa Shearin and Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre. I adore Shearin and Raine’s world. I’ve never read Aguirre before, but this book sounds too good to pass up on, LOL!
Ace/ROC fave? You mean, I have to name just one? LOL, I’m not sure I can do that! Every Lisa Shearin book and every Jim Butcher book I’ve read I’ve adored. I can’t pick!
Mar 04, 2010 @ 02:44:53
Hey, my picks are Silver Bourne by Patricia Briggs and Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin.
I love a lot of the Ace authors but I think my favourite book if I had to pick one would be Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. The first time I read that I just fell in love with the whole Mercy series. I bought the book on a Friday and started reading it at 3am after a night out (like you do). It was so brilliant that I couldn’t put it down and I ended up staying up all the rest of the night and the morning to finish it and then sleeping through the day!! Brill contest thanks!
Mar 04, 2010 @ 02:45:43
My first choice would be Patricia Briggs! And my very close second would be Charlaine Harris!
I have always been interested in reading about fantasy or paranormal novels, but ever since I first saw the cover of Patricia Briggs ‘Moon Called’ on the shelf of the store I worked at, I was smitten. After skim reading a few pages I found myself purchasing it on my break and reading it as I ate, I just could not put it down! This book was something new and exciting, and I had to have more of it! After finishing the novel I discovered the next was not yet available! I loved the style and the idea of what I would later come to know as ‘Urban Fantasy’, and as I awaited the next book in the series I found myself searching out more like it. In my quest I found a treasure trove of books I had not yet had the pleasure to read, authors like Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris, and Ilona Andrews. As the years have gone on, I am still finding many new authors in the genre to love (Ann Aguirre, Rachel Caine, Nancy Holzner, just to name a few).
But even still, for me my first love is Patricia Briggs, because whether it is opening the next new book in the series, seeing the new cover art by Daniel Dos Santos, or just hearing about the title of a book that wont even be published for another year, I still experience the same joy as when I first saw the cover of that beautiful book four years ago. :)

Wow! this is a hard one…
the books I want to win are
Ghosts and Echoes
Hells Fire
Bewitched and Betrayed
Shalador’s Lady
Any of those would be nice.
For the best Roc book…hhhmmm Thats even harder!! Practically all Ace/Roc books are good. You have Anne Bishop, Patricia Briggs, Lisa Shearin, and lots of new authors like Ann Aguirre. Also when Laurell K Hamilton wrote better books she was with you. (My personal opinion) But I’ve noticed if you want good books look at the publishers. And since Ace and Roc are great at publishing new and also continues with great authors of fantasy and science fiction than they are the publisher to go for. I will attempt a list though for the best ones I liked but Im sure I will feel like I am missing some book….
Black Jewels Trilogy- Anne Bishop
Touble Lost, Magic Found (once you start a series you have to finish it so I will put the first book down)
Gale Force- Rachel Caine (very good series which makes you rethink how Mother Nature feels about us)
Tainted- Julie Kenner
Trick of the Light- Rob thurman (very good book. I hope you encourage her to make a sequel…soon)
Deadtown- Nancy Holzner (I think this will become a very great and long-lasting series)
Blood Memories- Barb Hendee (Finally a book through the eyes of a vampire that kills. Allows you to see how a “real” vampire would be. And for once their power isn’t just “Ooo, I’m a sexy vampire”)
Sins and Shadows- Lyn Benedict (Again a character who is not so good and who is willing to do bad things to do good things, if that makes any sense)
Magic Strikes- Ilona Andrews (absolutely love, the book has grown in many ways such as plot development, character development and even world creating. With every book Ilona Andrews gets better. Very good series but can you please consider moving the release date up =)
All in all if you want a good book with a strong female lead (This is no way a diss to male characters so don’t feel offended Jim Butcher) than Ace and Roc are the publishers to go for.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 04:19:17
My first choice wouls be Shalador’s Lady by Anne Bishop (one of my all time favourite authors), and my second choice would be First Truth by Dawn Cook.
At the moment my favourite Ace/Roc book is The shadow Quuen (with her Black Jewels Trilogy)
Mar 04, 2010 @ 04:54:26
I’d love Betwitched & Betrayed or Ghosts & Echoes.
Loved Ann Aguirre’s Grimspace!
Mar 04, 2010 @ 05:38:03
I love all the sookie books, but dead to the world is my absolute favorite.
my picks would be dead in the family, of course, the 2nd pick would be your choice, because I am not familiar with the authors.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 05:42:12
I’d love to win Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris or Hell Fire by Ann Aguirre.
Other than the Southern Vampire Mysteries or the earlier Anita Blakes, my favourite Ace titles would be PN Elrod’s Jonathan Barrett quartet. When Jonathan Barrett’s first lover exchanged blood with him, he didn’t realise it was out of the ordinary until he wakes up with a new thirst after being accidentally killed. In the days before the word vampire came into usage, he has to find a way to live with his new condition while presenting a normal facade to everyone but his sister and best friend (also his cousin) while searching for the woman who made him.
Jonathan’s perspective is amusing and is aided by supporting characters who provide more humour and drama, such as his crazy mother, overbearing aunt and the gay family friend with a crush on Jonathan.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 06:03:45
I would love Patricia Briggs’ Silver Borne and/or Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. Have followed them from the beginning.
Including the above series, while it is hard to pick just a favorite, The Jax series by Ann Aguirre, Blue Diablo by same, The Greywalker series by Kat Richardson especially Underground (my fav of the series), and the Anna Strong series by Jeanne C. Stein are among my favs.
Thanks for the great contest!
Mar 04, 2010 @ 06:19:29
My top choices here would definitely be Silver Borne and Dead in the Family (like so many others!).
Choosing a favorite Ace/Roc book is hard! I love a lot of these authors. Right now, though, my favorite has to be the Magic series by Ilona Andrews. Just read the first three and was totally blown away!
Mar 04, 2010 @ 06:46:04
I would love to win BEWITCHED & BETRAYED and DEAD IN THE FAMILY. I have heard so much about these series that I really want to read them. (Although, choosing just two was very difficult.)

My best friend adores Patricia Briggs and Ann Aguirre. I bought Alpha and Omega to try but haven’t read yet.
Anyway, I would love to win those two authors to give to her.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 09:06:59
I would love to have (1) Dead in the Family and (2) Silver Borne.
I guess I would say my current favorite Ace/Roc book would be Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews, but I’m also really enjoying Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files.

I hate picking favourites! I love the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher and can’t wait until the next one comes out.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 09:56:57
My two picks would be Dead in the Family (I love Ms. Harris) and Shalador’s Lady. Haven’t read Ms. Bishop’s books but this one looks very intriguing.
I’m looking forward to Richelle Mead’s upcoming VA and also Chris Marie Green’s newest.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 10:12:32
My two picks are Charlaine Harris’s “Dead in the Family” and Patricia Briggs’ “Silver Borne”. I’m eagerly awaiting the reissue of Briggs’ Masques and Wolfsbane, and “Magic Bleeds” by Ilona Andrews. Ilona Andrews’ “Magic” series are my favorite Ace books.

Mar 04, 2010 @ 10:32:03
Dead in the Family and Silver Borne please! Both of these authors got me hooked on UF not to mention the amazing Ilona Andrews. (Except I just did :))
Mar 04, 2010 @ 10:54:25
GHOSTS & ECHOES by Lyn Benedict &
THE SWEET SCENT OF BLOOD by Suzanne McLeod
please as these are new authors to me.
Harris, Briggs, and Aguirre are authors that I’ve read and enjoyed frequently.
Mar 04, 2010 @ 10:55:22
Oooh, I could die happy if I got “Shalador’s Lady” and “Silver Borne.” Or, okay, I’d die happy after receiving and reading them and then possibly doing a happy, flaily dance.
Mmmn, it’s very difficult to choose my favorite Ace/Roc book, but looking at my wee bookshelf now, I’d have to see “Daughter of the Blood.” It first got me into the Black Jewels book some time in middle school, and I’ve faithfully read and reread every book in the series since. (Enough so that I have two copies of the original trilogy, and my fiance has another copy, because my copies are mine and I am liable to want to read them again at any point, and woe upon him who hinders my rereading.) Though, er, if we were going for “not one of the authors listed here,” then perhaps “On the Edge” by Ilona Andrews, whom I fangirl immensely because, let’s be honest here, she is made of awesome.

Mar 04, 2010 @ 11:31:04
DEAD IN THE FAMILY BY CHARALINE HARRIS
The Sweet Scent of Blood by Suzanne McLeod
So hard to pick only one favourite Ace/Roc book but I guess it would have to be Blood Memories by Barb Hendee.
