RomCon Giveaway Winners

The following random winners (selected by random.org) are the winners of the $125 Rom Con Conference fee. If one of you decide you don’t want to attend, please notify us immediately so that we can allow another reader to attend the conference. The conference organizers will contact you via the email you left when you made your comment.

Hope to see you in Denver this summer.

Lynette Please put me down. I’d love to attend this event. It sounded so great when I heard about it.
Donna Wow, this is awesome. I’d love to attend the convention.
TeeBee I know it is unlikely and random and all of that but, please please please please please me.
Heather (DarklyReading) This looks like a fun event – I’ve never been to a readers convention but if it gives me time to chat with my favorite authors then I’m there!
Sotheara I’ve never been to a convention before, and this would be an awesome experience.   If I can meet Nalini Singh and Elizabeth Hoyt, I will die happy!
Sandy James I would love to go!   Blogged for RomCon recently and am really impressed with their people!
michelle in colorado Sounds cool.
Laura I would love a chance to go.   This sounds like the start of something great!
Jessie Wow – very generous! thank   you
Verona St. James Drop my name in the hat, please!
Gennita Low The con sounds awesome.   Wish I could go but since RWA is at end of July, I can’t afford it, not in this economy ;-(.   I really love Denver too, and meeting readers is always a pleasure.
Melissa typo in my prior email address, so requested deletion. Please include me in the drawing –would love the chance to go!
Sheila L. This is sounds like a fun event.   Please enter me in the drawing.
Annmarie Taylor I would really love to attend this event, as I live in Denver. Would love to meet you as well. Thanks, Annmarie
SandyH This sounds like such a fun event. I have already contacted by BGF to see if she wants to go. Would love to win a chance.
Susan/DC Even with 20 winners, this will probably wind up being one of those contests where my chance of winning is about equal to the chance I will be struck by lightning, but if I don’t comment my chance is zero; even minimal odds are better than that.   I attended the authors’ booksigning at RWA in DC last year and had a wonderful time:   stood in line with Lydia Joyce and admired her daughter, discovered new authors as I walked down the aisles (e.g., Kristan Higgins), and was charmed in person by some authors who had previously only charmed me in print (MJP, Madeline Hunter, Karen Rose).   I’d love to have the opportunity to attend RomCon and duplicate that experience.
Kim Sounds like a fun time.
Sana Rizvi I would love to attend RomCon and meet all the fabulous authors that will be there :)
Amy Please consider me as well. I have never attended such a conference before; I would love the opportunity to meet some of my favorite authors, particularly Nalini Singh.
Lynn I would love to win a free registration — have been reading romances for more than 25 years and it would be wonderful to attend a convention

also. I won’t know anyone at the conference. Anyone want to buddyup? I am 38, live in SF, tend more towards paranormal and romantic suspense.

For Teebee (and others who don’t know anyone attending RomCon) … you’ll meet plenty of readers in line, at tables, etc. I know this from my own experience of attending RT 4 years solo. Plus you’ll be hobnobbing with the authors!

Perhaps the Dear Author readers could meet – maybe Friday morning?

Thank you!! I’m going to look into rescheduling something for that weekend and check airfare. I’ll definitely let you know this week if I need to give up this spot.

@TeeBee: And don’t forget there’s a spouse event on Saturday–he could play in a RomCon golf tournament with the other romance widowers!

@Annmarie: If you’re still interested in a roommate for the convention please email me at sotheara.keat @ gmail.com. It would be great to split the cost of the hotel.

I’m planning to go! This will be the first non-urgent trip that I will make on my own since having kids and I’m already feeling guilty just making the plans as I can hear my 2.5 year old wailing “Mommy, Don’t go! I don’t want you to go!”

I have a few questions; I hope someone here can answer.

First, DH wants to know whether I have to declare the $125 value as “income” on our 2010 tax return. Do we have any tax experts here?

Second, I haven’t decided whether to attend the evening dinners. I’ve never attended a costume ball or masquerade in my life, and it seems like I’d have to go spend quite a bit $$ to have the outfits for these events. Do attendees of other similar conventions with such events get all decked out for costume balls or masquerades?
