JOINT REVIEW: Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh (and Giveaway)

Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

UPDATE: We’ve decouple the review from the giveaway because this is a book so many want to talk about. The review will be reposted on Monday in a new and separate post.

The winners have all been emailed.

1) Andy Swanson
2) Cath
3) Adrianne Robinson
4) Jenny
5) Sera
6) Nicola
7) sequoia
8) Erika

NOTE FROM JANE: We have 8 copies of the hardcover debut from a Dear Author favorite, Nalini Singh. These 8 copies we will give away on Sunday to a random commenter to this post. This book engendered such a strong response that Janine and Shuzluva decided to do a joint review. There may be some spoilers in this review and if you don’t want to be spoiled, just skip to the comments section and leave a comment as to why you want to read Kiss of Snow. I’ll tell you my reason. Because Singh delivered everything she promised when Hawke and Sienna were first introduced in the first book in this series, Slave to Sensation. I’ve told anyone who asked that yes, this book is worth the hardcover price.

Thank you for this wonderful and detailled review. I really tried hard not to pre-order the English hardcopy but to wait until the German version will be available. But after having read your comments I really dont’t think I can stand it any any longer. The German version of Bonds of Justice is announced not before September, no announcement so far concerning Play of passion. Waiting for the German Kiss of snow could easily mean waiting another year. No chance! Patience is not my virtue…

I have been dying to read Hawke’s story since the tension between the two of them was first introduced. He needs that bond that his enforcers have found. And the much anticipated birth of Sascha and Lucas’s child is going to be such a bonus! Either way this book will be in my hands and read the first day it comes out!

I’ve been counting down the days to the release of KoS. I love Nalini Singh’s work and the Psy/Changeling Series particularly. Great Review. The age difference between Hawke and Sienna was a concern of mine and I haven’t even read the book yet! It sounds like it comes together well though, which is a relief.

I have been desperately waiting for this book! I’ve loved Hawke & Sienna’s characters from the very beginning of this series. The age difference hasn’t been an issue for me, as several other author’s I read have had just as big an age gap for their characters. The way Nalini writes is sympathetic to the age difference and circumstances in the series.

I love the way this series is progressing, and can’t wait for future installments (I too await semi-patiently for Kaleb’s story :-D)

Thanks for the opportunity to get a copy of this book.

I reread the entire series again and again and I love that in every book we also see the characters from the other books. I’ve been waiting for this story for YEARS (Who hasn’t, right?)! And now I just found out I won’t be able to buy it until after I get back from vacation NINE EXTRA DAYS LATER (please feel my pain) because I’ll be out of the country. This is actually a shadow over the first vacation I’ve taken in two years (I even worked through Christmas!). Which is totally crazy, I know. But still.

Being a fan is hard work. This level of dedication is tricky to handle sometimes. Please help relieve my suffering and return the sunny skies to my much-needed vacation. :)

hey guys. great review! these books give me such joy to read and winning an arc would be a dream come true.

Also i believe in Caressed by ice it is mentioned Hawke is 31 or 32 Sascha was pregnant in the 6th book and has the baby in book 10 we can assume hes only aged one to 2 years based on 9 months for the preganncy from the 6th to the 10th book and around 6 months from the 4th to the 6th as mecy and riley got together pretty much dorians mating ceremony and there wasnt great deal of time between brenna to tally to ashaya based on the comments in the book, eg there newly mated. :) hope that helps

Thank you for your reviews ladies, I am a huge Nalini Singh fan and (like everyone else) is waiting impatiently for KOS! I adore Nalini’s characters and she walks the borderline between fantasy and reality so easily and believably that when I read one of her books I disappear into the world she creates and it becomes my special place that I feel she is sharing just with me! I can read and re-read them time and again and still pick up new information each time. I don’t mind the Sienna/Hawke age gap because I had a relationship with a much older man at the same age as Sienna and have never regretted it, once you are ‘of age’ who you choose as a partner is your choice irrespective of anything! Please don’t underestimate our 19yr old ladies, they are quite capable of taking care of themselves! Please give me KOS and let me relive that time 23yrs ago when I was 19 – it was a magical experience! xx

I am so EXCITED about this book. You know must series that lead up to an epic battle sometimes DRAGS on for forever, (see Kristen Britain’s Green Rider series. LOVE the series but I HATED the last book.) but Nalini Singh always makes the individual books so interesting that even six or seven books in, it does’t feel like it’s dragging. I cannot wait until Hawke and Sienna’s story comes out. I wonder who the next person is going to be.

I am slightly giddy and feel like I’ve just queued up for a sale! I had a go at responding around Reply 628 but my broadband died and now it is up to 1087! The power of Nalini Singh! It only took 29 mins on my very slow wireless broadband to scroll down to end of this review to add my comments, but it was worth it for a chance at an early KOS. Love Ms Singh’s books!

    Thanks DearAuthor. (fingers x)

It wasn’t until I read Slave to Sensation, that I got to know about Nalini Singh. I never knew paranormal romance can be really interesting. I was hooked. I kept on reading the whole list and I finished it off in matter of days. And now, to wait for the most exciting of all stories for almost six months, seems like a torture. I cant wait…

I truly believe that this book, for me, will end up being the definitive tome of romantic, passionate, soul-consuming love, familial bonds, survival, and triumph over adversity in many forms. Hawke and Sienna, and the Snowdancer and Darkriver packs feel like family to me. Nalini has out done herself and many other authors in exquisitely creating a world and characters that connect with you so deeply, it is not easy to accept that they exist solely in our imaginations. What a reality it would be! Nalini, you have my utter gratitude and devotion as a reader. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Like everyone else I’m on tender-hooks over this one and would LOVE a copy. 2 points I’m particularly curious about: 1) Hawke “can’t” have a mate because his died and 2) Walker and Lara. As the reviewers noted, I feel like there’s a massive age gap, but I suspect that Singh manages that (and I definitely read historicals with similar age gaps on a regular basis). I have to admit that the notion that Hawke and Sienna can never mate has been bugging me since this dynamic was introduced. Hoping for a positive outcome.

Nalini Singh is definitely my favorite author, as she consistently writes excellent novels. I’ve never been disappointed & always find myself rereading this series and the Guild one as well. =) I have been following Hawke & Sienna since StS. I think Sienna is very mature for her age (or will be), and thus the age gap doesn’t bother me at all. I love their interactions with each other, esp. those scenes in PoP. I noticed that “Erika” is last on the list. Since I didn’t get an email, I’m assuming that someone with the same name as me is the one who lucked out. I’m soooo jealous.

Nalini is an awesome storyteller. I absolutely love the characters she has created and love entering the world she has built. Thrilling, riveting, passionate, intense and so much more. I have not read all her books but I am loving, making my way through them all.
I would love to win this book. Thank you.
