JOINT REVIEW: Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh (and Giveaway)

Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

UPDATE: We’ve decouple the review from the giveaway because this is a book so many want to talk about. The review will be reposted on Monday in a new and separate post.

The winners have all been emailed.

1) Andy Swanson
2) Cath
3) Adrianne Robinson
4) Jenny
5) Sera
6) Nicola
7) sequoia
8) Erika

NOTE FROM JANE: We have 8 copies of the hardcover debut from a Dear Author favorite, Nalini Singh. These 8 copies we will give away on Sunday to a random commenter to this post. This book engendered such a strong response that Janine and Shuzluva decided to do a joint review. There may be some spoilers in this review and if you don’t want to be spoiled, just skip to the comments section and leave a comment as to why you want to read Kiss of Snow. I’ll tell you my reason. Because Singh delivered everything she promised when Hawke and Sienna were first introduced in the first book in this series, Slave to Sensation. I’ve told anyone who asked that yes, this book is worth the hardcover price.

I would love to read this book as it will be the perfect post-exam present. Huge fan of the series. After reading law texts for ages having the book I’m most looking forward to this year would be the best treat and the thought of it would definitely get me through the stressful times! Hope my entry is successful! (^_^)

i’ve gotten into the Psy-changeling series in the past month and I’m chomping at the bit to read the next book – Sienna / hawks tale has been simmering since the first book, and I’m eager to see how it progresses.
I’m also interested in seeing how Saschas mother Nikita progresses, as the books go on you feel that maybe Sascha didn’t pick up the empathy from her granny, perhaps her mum just hid hers well!

    Wonderful review!

I’m new to the Psy/Changeling world, but fell in love with them right away. And from the first moment I read a Hawke/Sienna scene I knew that they would be paired together. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this book from that first scene and can’t wait to read it :)

Which is really terrible when you fall in love with a book and I fall in love with all the Psy Changlings…Nalini Rules! =) Have a great day everyone!

I’m not sure if I can participate to the giveaway because I don’t know if you’ll send the winnings abroad too, for I live in Finland. But this is way too alluring opportunity to pass…so I decided I won’t lose anything if I try!

So the reason I’d love to have the newest Singh:

A friend of mine recommended the series to me many times saying I’d totally fall in love with it when I’d read the books. She went on and on about it and finally I bought the first one of the series on the February this year. And I very soon realized that my friend was right: I fell in love head over heels.

I had to buy the others of the series when I was in page 100 of the first book (so I wouldn’t have to take any breaks between the books)…and now I’m in the middle of the Play of Passion and already impatiently waiting for the next book to come.

So I’d absolutely love to get it from you! :)

I can’t wait for this book to come out!!! I received Slave to Sensation from a coworker who thought I could use some reading material while I was ill last year, and was hooked – finished it in less than 24 hours, reading through the night. And then I had to seek out the rest of the series, which I just gobbled up…including the novellas :)

It had been more than 10 years since I even picked up a romance novel, but Nalini’s work is so well thought-out, and her characters so well written (did I mention the storylines are totally sexy and hawt?!?) that I can’t stay away. *Sigh* Can’t wait…

Her writing has spoilt me for other authors, as I now expect them to produce the same high standard as she has conjured in both her Psy/Changeling series and the newer Archangel series. I have quite happily ‘infected’ my reader friends from around the world with her exciting, sexy and captivating worlds. She is a brilliant Kiwi author and does any Antipodean reader proud!

Could we ask that the men in these books perhaps be sometimes vulnerable and not dominant, and sometimes dominant? A mixture, just like real men seem to be? I have a countdown for Hawke’s book on my chalkboard in my classroom. I feel that this book will be lifechanging. Also, Hawke should be 34 years old, because he was 32 in Caressed By Ice.

Oh please, pick me! I want to read this book so freakin’ badly that I’m going to pop!! If I have to pick one reason, it’s that I want Sienna to be more comfortable in her own skin. Well, ok, that and I want Hawke to be comfortable in Si… ok, can’t say that one out loud! ;-)

Oh, and I believe Hawke’s age was given in Brenna & Judd’s book as 33 (at that point) if that’s any help!

I fell in love with the Psy-Changeling series when I read Slave to Sensation. Introducing beings like the Psy were the first thing that grabbed me straight away and ever since, I’ve been hooked. I’ve wanted Sienna and Hawke to be together since book 1 and I loved how Nalini made sure to have some type of dialogue involving them in almost every book. After book 5 or so, I was beginning to become afraid that Nalini would never write Hawke’s story, but then I heard of Kiss of Snow last year and have been waiting impatiently ever since.

I wanted to address the reviews that didn’t like the age-difference between Hawke and Sienna. I myself had lots of traumatic events happen to me in my life and I would hate for people to look at my age and assume things about me. I was very mature by the age of 14, more than I should have been. I know that now, but at the time, I was just being me. I didn’t think I should be more playful or carefree or ignorant…I couldn’t get my childhood mentality back, even if I wanted to. Experiences change us on a fundamental level, and when people try to box people into ‘acting their age’ I think we miss out greatly in how we see people. I was actually really happy that Nalini was writing a book where the characters ages were different. Now, I’m not advocating for 80 year old men to start courting 10 year old girls. However, my grandmother was 12 years older than my grandfather and they were married for over 20 years. Love knows no age and what can be gained by Sienna being 30? I don’t think Hawke would love her any more or be any less resistant towards her because of it. Sienna is a woman in every way and 19 years old doesn’t have to mean that a girl parties and sleeps around and acts immature. A 19 year old woman can absolutely be very versed in the world and I don’t think it’s weird at all that she’s almost 20 and Hawke is around 34. If they are both in the same place in their lives and want the same things, I say, go for it, and I absolutely cannot wait to see how Nalini plays the book out.

Please let me win this book because I think Kiss of Snow might not just be my favorite in the series, but one of my favorite books that I have ever read. I was so jealous that some people were given the ARCs; May 31st is entirely too long for me to wait. And I love the conservative matches! Call me old fashioned, but I think it’s romantic that Hawke is a man’s man, that he can take care of himself and wants to take care of her. At what point did we, as women, become offended that a man wanted to be the provider? I cannot wait until Kiss of Snow comes out because it is a rare thing in a series, where I can read the last page, close the book, and be completely satisfied with what the author has done, without any complaints. Karen Moning did that for me in the Fever Series, and I have the same high expectation of Nalini Singh’s book as well.

I absolutely LOVE this entire series! I have read tons of books and series, and I have NEVER craved a book so strongly in my years! (I am NOT that old!) Recieving a copy of this book would be a total slice of heaven. This series has such a perfectly constructed chain of events, but just enough suspence to make it worthy of being read. This series is driving me crazy, Crazy, CRAZY! In a good way! You just gotta love the pleasure-pain of waiting for the next novel in this superb series. Good luck to all and to myself on actually wining a copy!

I looooovvvveee Singh’s Psy/Changeling series and have from the beginning. I actually got to meet her at RWA National 2010, and she’s wonderful, of course. I would happily pay for the hardback of Hawke and Sienna’s story, but would def take a free copy if you pick me.

I do not think my first post went through, so here we go again haha. Sorry f this comes through a bunch of times.

I love Ms. Sing’s books and I feel like I have been waiting for this story forever! Hawke has captivated me from day 1 – I am always up for a tall, stormy and handsome alpha male :) I love how Ms. Singh writes about her characters, because they come alive for me and I end up thinking about them and rereading their stories often because they are so engaging! I can’t wait to see Sienna torture and play with Hawke, haha, such fun!

Thank you for holding this fab contest, please count me in!

I am from the tiny island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. I am always purchasing books online from Amazon. I discovered Nalini Singh psy-changeling series on a recommended list from amazon and I have not been disapointed. I have a copy of every book in the series written thus far and have fallen in love with all the characters. I may have re-read each book at least twice. i am so anxious to read a copy of Hawke’s book. I know it comes out in the US may 31st but i will probably receive it middle of June. It would be real nice if I could get an early copy of Kisss of Snow. Nalini you have fans across the ocean. My book club love you!

I plan to stay home from work and read this book. Nalini Singh has become my favorite author in the paranormal romance genre. I love the intricate and tight story lines. The plot for Hawke and Sienna’s story has been building through most of the Psy-Changeling books and the build – up is why I’m here, hoping for an early copy.
