Avon’s publicity department contacted me and wondered if I would be interested in giving away a gift certificate for cowboy boots in conjunction with promoting Lori Wilde’s A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS, which was on sale October 29, 2012 . In A Cowboy for Christmas, heroine Lissette Moncrief has a thing for sexy cowboys in tight fitting jeans. She’s a sucker for John Wayne’s swagger, Sam Elliot’s voice and Clint Eastwood’s flinty-eyed gaze. Ever since she was a teenager, when a fortune-teller predicted that a cowboy was her destiny, Lissy’s been searching for her Cowboy Mr. Right. It’s Christmas – who is the cowboy that she wants under her tree?
It’s Christmas morning and there’s an extra large box underneath the Christmas tree and it’s got your name printed on it in big letters. Santa has been good to you this year.
Your heart pounds with excitement as you edge closer. The package is tall. Over six-feet and wrapped in silver foil paper. You step closer. You’ve never seen a Christmas present quite this big and shiny.
But then the package moves!
You’ve never seen a Christmas present move before. Something inside that box is alive! Nervous, but intrigued, you inch closer. Your fingers tremble as you reach up to tug on the bright red ribbon.
You give that ribbon a yank and the box falls open on all four sides. Your breath catches.
Standing in front of you, is the buffest man you’ve ever seen, washboard abs, sinewy thighs, biceps the size of navel oranges, the works. He’s as naked as the day he was born, except for a black Stetson, battered black cowboy boots and a strategically placed big (and we do mean big) red bow.
His head is dipped down so the brim of his Stetson covers his eyes. He cocks his hands on his hips.
Your hands are clammy and your mouth is dry.
Slowly, his head comes up.
Your heart is hammering so hard you can barely hear yourself think.
His eyes meet yours.
You stop breathing.
He drills you with an intense gaze that sets your body on fire. That look says he wants you, and only you, until the end of time.
You can’t believe it. You know him! This is the cowboy you’ve been dreaming of.
He holds out his hand and murmurs your name.
You sigh happily and sink against his chest. He wraps his arms around you. The big red bows falls off and then the fun really begins…
The cowboy in Lissette’s box is Rafferty Jones, the hero from A Cowboy for Christmas. Want to know what cowboy Lori would love under her tree? The answer is: James Garner as Maverick. “I like the playful cowboys,” she reveals.

This contest comes at a good time, as I’m currently obsessed with cowboy boots. When I tried to do the Rafflecopter, I couldn’t see any way to enter my e-mail in the field. It was just a blank where an entry field should have been. But when I typed it (and saw nothing on the screen), I hit enter, and it worked. Just FYI, in case anyone else has that problem.

@Ruthie: Hmm. Rafflecopter should say “Login to enter this giveaway” and then give you a facebook option or an email option. It is blank for you though?

@Jane: I was already logged in (“Hi Ruth”), and my option said “choose your own task.” It told me to enter my e-mail address, but there didn’t appear to be anywhere to enter it. But then when I typed it, it worked, and now it says I’ve entered, so I’m wondering if the field was somehow invisible but still there… don’t know. Could be some glitchy little system incompatibility thing.

I had the same experience with Rafflecopter but I did not think to try typing my email. So I got my “done” message but did not share my email. Sorry! I was signed in to Rafflecopter so I would think my email will be available that way in the unlikely event I actually win this thing!
My favorite boots are black suede with a wedge heel and fur lining from Nine West. But the best part is they are convertible — a zipper by the ankle allows you to wear them knee length or ankle length.

OK… I’ve been a “city” girl for my entire life and one of my secret desires has been to get/own a pair of cowboy boots. They might not be worn out of the house w/out liquid courage but still! Fantastic giveaway :)

I had the same issues as previously mentioned. I tried to type an e-mail in, nothing appeared. I hit the button and the entries went up by one.
I assume I am entered. Well, I will admit no matter how much weight I lose, my calves won’t go in a boot. Damn this peasant stock. But my lucky daughter has her dad’s gorgeous legs so she will be happy to use it for me.
But I am just getting into cowboy love. I must admit Carolyn Brown’s books didn’t do it for me so I am looking for someone else to glom.

It’s so timely, I just bought some Lori Wilde books this morning for my Mom who loves romances with cowboys.
I’d love a pair of Jimmy Choo black motorcycle boots or some Blundstones, but red cowboy boots could be a lot of fun!
OMG! Fluevogs were the thing when I was in grad school. I bought my first pair of Docs at John Fluevog in Seattle and I have a pair of green and purple lace ups shoved somewhere in the back of my closet! I am so wearing them tomorrow (if I can find them) and will be thinking of you Jane. Fluevogs are so funky, but gorgeous all at the same time.
I was a bit confused about email entry, but I figured it out eventually.

Since my Daughter ruined my last pair of boots when she borrowed them, I could use a new pair and if they were an impractical red or a rather sedate black, well. That would be nice. *g*
Hmm, cowboys…. There’s something so appealing about a man who works so hard for his livelihood and family. I’d have to say James Garner from Maverick, even though that was before my time there’s something about him…. Of course, there’s also James Garner in Murphy’s Romance. I know, he was older, but still had that charm…..

Sam Elliott is the love of my life : ) He’s the “real deal”! He was born in Sacramento, CA and grew up in Oregon. One of his grandfathers was a “gen-u-ine” Texas Ranger. Sam has one of the greatest voices ever–that sexy Southern/Western drawl. Even though he’s often rough and tough, he can be quite courtly and charming. The way he says, “Thank you, Ma’am” melts me right down to the ground : )

The cowboy I’d want to find under the Christmas tree? George Strait!!! I’ve had a crush on him since I was in middle school & used to attend his yearly music festival here in San Antonio. Not only does he sit a horse well, the man can sing & just keeps getting better looking! Yep, I’d love to find him under the tree!
As for cowboy boots…they are my favorite type of shoe! I wear them more than anything else & my current fave is the Justin Gypsy line. They’re reasonably priced, super comfy & come in lots of cute color combos. My favorites are the ostrich leather ones.
