GIVEAWAY: Hot Finish by Erin McCarthy

Update: I’ll be closing the comments and ending the contest today (Jul 3) at 8 pm CST.

Erin McCarthy HOT finishRemember earlier this month when Cindy Hwang spoke about Hot Finish and you all wanted a copy and we weren’t giving any of them away?   That was cruel, right?   Well, we are making up for it by having a HUGE giveaway. And by huge, I mean that between Sarah at and we   at Dear Author, there will be a total of 40! finished copies (available to be mailed out next week) to be given away. We are giving 20 away here at Dear Author.

This is part one of our Save the Contemporary campaign for Hot Finish. It’s in mass market, unlike the previous first releases in the series which were in trade (although they are now re-released in mass market). In the week leading up to the release date of August 3, we will be giving away an iPod Touch to anyone who spreads the good word about Contemporaries and Hot Finish.

So why should you want this book?   Well, Cindy describes   HOT FINISH by  Erin McCarthy thusly:

I love love love Erin’s smart, sexy Fast Track contemporary romance series, and from the moment she introduced Suzanne and Ryder in the first book, FLAT-OUT SEXY, I knew their romance would be something special. And it absolutely is–Suzanne and Ryder have a sexual chemistry together that practically leaps off the page, and what’s so wonderful is how funny they are together too. If you love second chance romances, you’ll love HOT FINISH!

What I liked about this book, I have listed in numerical order:

  1. Suzanne is a ballsy chick who is at times brash and abrasive but is always sympathetic.
  2. Ryder wants Suzanne back, bad.
  3. Hotness, folks, hotness.
  4. And funny

So in summary, we have a totally fresh heroine, a hero who can’t stop thinking about his ex, tons of good natured hot sex with a fun vibe.   You want? Just leave a comment about whether you watch stock car racing.

I feel the need–the need for speed! NASCAR is not just about “good ol’ boys”, it’s also about “good ol’ girls”! Women love NASCAR, and not just because of the hunky drivers: ) We also love the thrills, excitement and glamour of the sport. However, NASCAR is all about families. The driver and their pit crew are a family. Spectators attend events as families, and fandom is generational and highly devoted. Most important, the wives of NASCAR are there at the track as an integral part of the driver's inner circle. I have great respect for these ladies who keep their families together while their men participate in a very dangerous sport. The NASCAR wives are truly “Steel Magnolias” : )

I would love to have a copy.

I don’t watch or really understand Nascar racing – and you’d think I would considering I live in a NC town dubbed “Race City USA” and I am surrounded by race team members and drivers!! But I love Erin McCarthy’s books and hope I win this one. It sounds like great fun.

I don’t watch car racing. I totally can understand the appeal of being a driver (and dating one!), but not so much the appeal of watching cars go around in a circle. :)

    Jul 01, 2010 @ 06:52:49

Wish I could watch Stock Car racing but I’m outside US. However, I loved reading about stock car racing and have been waiting not-so-paitently for Hot Finish. Yay! Finally Suzanne and Ryders book.

Don’t watch stock car racing but i definitely love reading about it :). I love Erin McCarthy. She is th eonly author i cannot resist buying in trade paperback. The rest are too expensive for me.

But i do love watching Formula 1, if that counts in my favour :).

Cannot wait to read this book and the next ones in the series!

  34. Laurie
    Jul 01, 2010 @ 06:54:28

I feel as though I’ve waited for this book FOREVER!!

My Hub has watched Nascar since he was a kid, seems that it goes hand in hand w/being raised in the south – so I watch by default. We have gone to serveral races and I watch enough to know who most of the drivers are, but especially find it interesting how the sponsors get their names and products in front of the cameras.

  37. MaryK
    Jul 01, 2010 @ 07:07:50

No I don’t watch it. I’ve even been known to confuse NASCAR and Indy which apparently is a big no-no. :) I’ve always wanted to do it myself though, isn’t that weird?

I didn’t think I’d be interested in a racing book ’til I remembered I’ve enjoyed a couple of old HPs with racing heroes. Plus, I’ve been meaning to try McCarthy.

  38. MandaM
    Jul 01, 2010 @ 07:08:03

I started to watch NASCAR with my sons a few years back when Matt Kenseth won. GO MATT!! ( a fellow Wisconsonite)
When I was growing up, one of my close friend’s dad was really into stock car racing so we would go to Kaukauna to watch the local stock car races. It was so NOISY!!! I think we watched the boys in the stands more than the cars.

I love reading all the NASCAR romances especially Pamela Britton, Nancy Warren and Wendy Etheridge with Liz Allison.

I love your reasons for enjoying Erin’s book “Hot Finish”! Sounds like a winner to me!!

‘Hot Finish’ is one of the very few books this year that I’m REALLY, REALLY, looking forward to! I’ve been waiting for Suzanne and Ryder’s story since ‘Flat-Out Sexy’.

Does ‘Cars’ count? I’ve never seen stock car racing as I live outside the US. I have seen Formula 1, which is the most popular car racing event in Europe.

I used to be a NASCAR wife. After divorcing the sport along with the man, we’ve now reconciled–NASCAR and I have, anyway. The ex (who still works for a race team) is and always will be the ex. And I gotta say, the drivers are even cuter now than they were in the 80s!

I don’t watch racing of any kind. Yet. As with most of my Romance reading, though, these books have lit a kind of spark of interest so I likely will at some point. (Romance is the gateway I used to learn needlepoint, a bit more about Waterloo, how gold mines worked, and so on. Racing will have its turn, too. Romance reading as finishing school!)

I lived in Charlotte, NC for about 5 years, and pretty much the culture there is “eat or be eaten” when it comes to NASCAR. So started pulling for Jeff Gordon, who I thought was cute.

Still do. So, let’s go 24 car!

Definitely don’t watch or follow stock car racing. But I do have an idiot brother-in-law who thinks the perfect bachelor party for the other brother-in-law is renting cars and drag racing them in the desert.

Thankfully I didn’t need to forbit DH from doing this, he knows his brother is an idiot.

I used to watch my uncle drag race occasionally (when I was MUCH younger), and I paid a little attention to Indycar racing when I lived in the Hoosier state, but I’ve never watched stock car racing. Which is why I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the first book of this series; the author evoked the passion of the racers, their families and their supporters, drawing me into a world I never thought I’d “get.”

Don’t watch stock car racing, but I read the first book in the series and really liked it, so I have no problem reading about stock car racing. :)

I’m not generally very into spectator sports, so no stock car racing for me. Although that is changing lately – I’ve been watching my school’s Ultimate Frisbee games, and I saw that agonizing last game of the NBA championship (agonizing for me and my fellow Bostonians, anyway).

I even wrote Erin after I read the first book in this series and asked her if she was going to write Ryder & Suzanne’s story, and she told me that she wasn’t sure if the series would take off and if the publisher would have her write it. I’m SO excited that it worked out for her, and that “I” will be able to read Ryder & Suzanne’s story. Even if I don’t win it, I’ll be there on the publishing date to get it.

I am probably one of 6 people in MA who has watched stock car racing and enjoyed it. When I was growing up, my favorite Uncle Mikey was a racer at the tracks in southern and central NH, so I have fond memories of being made dirty and deaf from hanging at the races with my cousins. Unfortunately, racing killed my uncle and his hero, Dale Earnhardt, and it soured me a bit on the whole endeavor. I’ll still watch it if nothing else is going on, but I don’t follow it anymore.

I’d love to try this author, so count me in.

As for stock car racing, not really. They have Speed Street here in Charlotte, NC & I attend every year but thats about as far as it goes. I don’t see the point in watching a car run around a track but the drivers are sexy.

Aside from the movie “Cars”? No, I don’t watch any NASCAR racing except for occasionally a snippet on TV. I live kind of close to a raceway and rarely do NASCAR come here (but they do). I follow Formula One racing a bit more (when the Michael Schumacher Ferrari showed up in “Cars”, I squealed like a little girl!).
