Favorite sport–hockey, hands-down. I’ll read about other sports, but football’s the only other one I can sit through a game of. I’ve been dying to read Jaci’s books!

My favorite courtesan book is A Gentleman Undone by Cecilia Grant. Okay, so she was a mistress during the novel, but she used to be a courtesan so it counts, right?

    Thanks again for the giveaways!

  42. Justine
    Aug 06, 2013 @ 10:37:11

Have there been any romances written about figure skating or ice dancing? In real life, those sports have resulted in notable romances. A competitive cheerleading romance would also tickle me pink. Guys who are competitive cheerleaders are really buff (in order to toss and catch others, as well as hold them aloft) and a good number of them are also football players. (Different competitive seasons. States like Texas have HUGE football and competitive cheerleading cultures.)

Has Jeannie Lin written a courtesan romance before? I did skim some of her Harlequin Historicals a while ago.

Favorite courtesan book: It’s a novella actually- Elizabeth Hoyt’s “Ice Princess” it’s one of the few books I’ve read featuring a courtesan where the heroine was clever, without self-loathing and there wasn’t some crazy contrived reason for her becoming one. I really enjoyed the hero and heroine in the story as well.

I really enjoyed the one Jaci Burton I’ve read – I was particularly impressed that it didn’t have me gnashing my teeth at things that aren’t real sports things.

Honestly, all of these books sound amazing! Jeannie Lin has been on my list of authors to try out asap for a while (clearly I’m very good about getting through said list), and while I’m not familiar with Heather Lire, the description of that book sounds really interesting. I’ll have to check it out if I don’t win!

    Favorite sport: baseball and soccer
Favorite courtesan book? I’m not sure that I have one – I really enjoyed Claudia Dain’s series, and Courtney Milan’s “Unclaimed” (I think that’s the one) was really fantastic.

I’ve enjoyed Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Stars books and Rachel Gibson’s hockey books. I haven’t read Jaci Burton’s yet. As for courtesan books, I just finished Evangeline Collins’ Seven Nights to Forever and liked it a lot and a while ago read Jeannie Lin’s My Fair Concubine and loved it. I visited Vermont in June and it makes me want to read Heather Lire’s book. What a beautiful state!

My favorite sports romances have been about football, golf and hockey players as written by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson, none of which I really watch, but those alpha guys and the women who love them draw me in every time.
The second book is appealing because it has an heroine who is at the end of her rope–and haven’t we all been there at one time? How she recovers/struggles to come back intrigues me.
Re my favorite courtesan book, two others have named them already: Elizabeth Hoyt’s The Ice Princess and Courtney Milan’s Unclaimed.

Lydia from Cecilia Grant’s A Gentleman Undone, for being not beautiful, for enjoying sex, for being good with numbers. Coco from Judith Ivory’s Sleeping Beauty for her toothache and navigating the older woman, younger man trope, and again being unapologetic about her history, Didier in Cara McKenna’s Curio for being claustrophobic, obsessed with clockwork, and hawt.

My favorite courtesan book within the romance genre is Courtney Milan’s Unraveled, although technically the female MC is a mistress, not a courtesan. I’m interested in Jeannie Lin’s books, particularly as I am part-Asian (though not Chinese) and am looking for works that vary from the “norm.”

I loved watching my kids play soccer. I like to play volleyball, ride horses and would love to try archery (even before Hunger Games and Brave). I didn’t even realize “Sports Romance” was a sub-genre until recently but I enjoy reading most romances and have Jaci Burton on my wish list.

I love small town books (romance or cozy mysteries), Heather’s book sounds like something I’d enjoy

Favorite courtesan book? I’m sure I’ve read tons but Courage to Love by Samantha Kane is the only one I’m able to think of right now.

I love football the most, having grown up in a football-watching family. As soon as pre-season started, my mom would set up her huge quilting rack and sew, listening/watching college and pro games. I didn’t inherit Mama’s quilting genes, but football games are always playing in the background during the fall season. My hubby teases sometimes that he’s a football widower!

    Aug 07, 2013 @ 00:49:16

I’m really not a ‘real’ sports fan, but reading stories with sports as the background, or as an integral part of the story — well, those I’ve liked. I did watch basketball when I was in college – didn’t miss a game. I played in the band in high school, and we played at all home games, and even some away ones – but it wasn’t until I was a senior in high school that someone finally explained what they were doing (10 yds advance w/ no more than 4 plays to do it).
Not sure what ‘courtesan book’ I might have read, so I certainly don’t have a favorite. I do know I have loved the synopsis of each of the books by Jeannie Lin.
I believe in 2nd chances — in life, and in love. And sometimes in life we need even 3rd and 4th chances. In love, first time around happiness is / would be wonderful; but, if 1st time plays out, 2nd chance at love to find a HEA is awesome. And, does Heather Lire’s novel have a hint of mystery as well?

Pro basketball definitely. Last year, out of 82 regular Chicago Bulls games, I watched about 79 of them. That doesn’t even take into account other teams or playoff games. I literally watched at least part of every playoff game. Yeah, my husband loves my little obsession. ;-)

I’m afraid the “courtesan” isn’t my favorite trope in romance novels, so I can’t say I’ve read many…I’ve read and enjoyed A Notorious Countess Confesses by Julie Anne Long (but then I generally enjoy everything she’s written, so it wasn’t about the courtesan thing at all). I’m also looking forward to reading A Gentleman Undone by Cecilia Grant, which has been in my TBR list forever. Jeannie Lin – I’m so excited to read her as I’ve heard so much about her!

I am trying once again to see if I can ‘score’ one or more of the amazon Jaci Burton books.
I am an all around sports fan. Hockey, since I’m Canadian; Football, have you seen those butts?? And all those tall long tattooed drinks in basketball dont hurt the eyes either!!

I have entered about every contest I come across and applied for ever ARC available, without luck. Perhaps it is not in the cards for me, it certainly is not in the budget, but since I love my blog and there are many more good writers out there (even though they’re not Jaci Burton!), there will always be books to read and review to write……..I just had to try one more time!!!

    Thanks for an awesome contest!!

    Favorite sport is football.
In school I dated a football jock. I later married a former high school football jock. And I raised a football jock *facepalm.* We eat, sleep and breathe the sport in this household!
Thanks so much for the awesome giveaway chance!

My favorite sport is football, but hockey is a close second, every sport should have a penalty box!

My favourite sport is hockey! It’s the only sport that I watch actual games to cheer for my hometown team. As for sports romance, I’d read about any sport.
