Sometime in July, I got this harebrained idea that we would do a giveaway festival here at DA. I asked a few and then I thought I’d open it up to others so we would get a variety of books. I whipped up a form for authors to submit and it kind of got away from me. We had over 70+ authors and publishers want to participate.
To make it feasible to run this thing, I decided to do a rafflecopter for each individual author or publisher giveaway. Ned and I spent one whole weekend creating the rafflecopters. Thank you, Ned!
I like to use rafflecopters because it picks winners for you using random.org and you can open and close the contest automatically. Most of the rafflecopters are open for 3 days. There have been some variations because of user (me) error.
The contests are run like this. Author offers up a prize and promotional language. We create the rafflecopter. You, the commenters and visitors, come and enter the contests. When the contests end, I go into the rafflecopter site, allow the program to pick the winners. The winners are then announced on the rafflecopter. I collect the emails of the winners and those are sent to the authors who are in charge of contacting the winners.
To see if you have won, return to the rafflecopters you have entered.
Pretty easy, right? My recommendation is to check back daily because we have new winners and new contests every day. Here’s a handy bookmark for you. It’s the tag for all the giveaways.
