#Giveaway: Alison Atlee, Juliana Ross, Lori Sjoberg

Welcome to the Dear Author August Extravaganza, Day 13.

Every day this month, we are giving away copies of books, both digital and print, as well as gift certificates and even a digital reader. Stay tuned to this link to see all of the giveaways. They only last a few days each so keep visiting.

From Author Alison Atlee

The-Typewriter-Girl-by-Alison-Atlee-193x300

I have four happy reasons to give away copies of THE TYPEWRITER GIRL here at Dear Author:

1.) I’ve discovered amazing reads via the reviewers and commenters here. I’m on the fringes of this community because I’m not here to comment regularly, but I’m grateful to you all nonetheless. Thank you for your thoughtful contributions, and the time you take to make them.

2.) Jane. Thanks to her, I’ve been able to indulge my nosiness about how other writers work and to disguise it as interviewing.

3.) Make no mistake: there’s nothing like seeing that red DA “Recommends” banner across the cover of your book. In her review, Jennie said, “The Typewriter Girl is easily one of the most romantic books I’ll read all year,” and it was a very good day to be an author. Dear Author has been, in many ways, my romance novel school, so that A- was the nod from the extra-tough teacher for me.

4.) Dear Author readers like Different. A historical without aristocrats or ballrooms, for example. A heroine who’s not virginal, not virtuous, and a little more practical than is comfortable. A Greek alphabet soup of a hero with rather naïve ideas about raking.

Four good reasons and four giveaway books to go along with them. My “thank yous” are uncountable, though.

From Author Lori Sjoberg

Grave-intentions-e-book

Book Description:

One act of mercy before dying was all it took to turn soldier David Anderson into a reaper—an immortal who guides souls-of-untimely-death into the afterlife. But the closer he gets to atoning for his mortal sin and finally escaping merciless Fate, the more he feels his own humanity slipping away. Until he encounters Sarah Griffith. This skeptical scientist can’t be influenced by his powers—even though she has an unsuspected talent for sensing the dead. And her honesty and irreverent sense of humor reignite his reason for living—and a passion he can’t afford to feel. Now Fate has summoned David to make a devastating last harvest. He’ll break every hellishly-strict netherworld rule to save Sarah…and gamble on a choice even an immortal can’t win.

I had read about THE TYPEWRITER GIRL previously, and thought it would be a book I would particularly like. I always wanted to be a ‘career girl’, a secretary who typed all day — my sister, cousins, & I played ‘office’ and not ‘house’ when we were little.

After reading the DA review, I downloaded The Typewriter Girl from Amazon UK, only to discover it was the wrong one – the one I got was by J L Jarvis. So I would really like to read the right one!
