Exclusive Cover Reveal: Nalini Singh Archangel’s Shadows

I wish I could say that I have this on my Kindle and I’m reading it right now. Alas…no. But I have stared at the cover for a while since I received it last night. I love that Ashwini is not depicted as a blonde haired, blue eyed Scandinavian but matches her in-book description.  And yeah, Janvier, you look nice, too.

Archangel's Shadows

Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s sensual and painfully beautiful Guild Hunter world in her new novel of sacrifice, loyalty, and the choices of love that can shatter the heart.

In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot—should not—be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…

Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there’s one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash’s secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

You can find Nalini Singh here:

Now, the first question I asked was when the release date was. November 2014 is the answer. WHAT???? That’s so far away. To appease us, Berkley and Nalini Singh are offering up a complete set of the Archangel series, in paper, to be shipped anywhere. Yes, anywhere. AND 1 Advanced Reader’s Copy of Shield of Winter (here’s why you want to read this book)

Shiloh, you know our Bluebell is going to get his own book one day. ;)

But ZOMG. I LOVE this cover. It’s gorgeous. I love how Ashwini is depicted–it’s exactly how I envisioned her. And Janvier is looking verra nice too. I LOVE the blurb. It’s one of the best covers I’ve seen.

Nalini is sooooo good at introducing characters in her series where I read and say, I want that book and that one and that one and that one. I have been dying for Ashwini and Janvier, ever since it was mentioned that in book one. I loved the novella with them. I am so excited to read their book and it’ll be intolerably long until it releases.

Well, Ashwini is an Asian woman and from India heritage, it will be very wrong if the model is a Caucasian. As an Asian, I’m so happy to see this cover and hope there will be more Asian heroines to come.

I love this cover, I love that after book after book (and novella) of being teased about these two, we are finally getting them! I know we are all waiting with baited breath for Illium, but I seriously hope we get a story for Venom and (I hope) Sorrow getting together.

I’m a dark chestnutty brunette with red lights so I’d like my wings to be graduated in color from a pale buttery cream to metallic coppery bronze.

If I could have wings I would have wings the shimmering green color found on hummingbirds … or maybe not. that would be a lot of very bright green. But I’d want that color on my wings, maybe mixed with some other shades of green and blue?

  41. Margo
    Mar 06, 2014 @ 10:23:54

WOW! The cover is incredible! Ash looks just as I’d pictured her! Can’t wait for the book. If I had wings, they’d be blue from the arches down then canary yellow would start dapple them until they became more solid yellow, but while the insides were yellow, the back and outsides would remain blue. similar to the wings of the Blue and Yellow Macaw. :)

If you could have wings, what color/pattern/design would they be?: The colours in the sunset image below:×400.jpg

Pattern/design: The colours go from dark to light as you move towards the tips of the wings. The tips should be bright red.

    Now I want wings!

I’d have wings made of marimo (a green, downy, aquatic plant form) and magically encased in a layer of water, so that touching my wings would be similar to the experience of submerging your hand in a cool tide-pool, brushing your fingers against an interesting life form. The color of the water would change with my emotions.

Here’s what a healthy marimo looks like:

If I had wings they would be be a pale gray/mauve, shimmering with hints of delicate hints of thistle and darkening to tips of deep purple. Her hair would be that same deep purple but with an ombré shading to pale thistle falling in a tapered fall to the middle of her back. Her eyes would be platinum with a flare of amethyst starburst. :). thought about this a lot. Lol

    Mar 06, 2014 @ 13:14:52

If I could have wings I always think of four color patterns: a harlequin pattern like stained glass, a peacock/golden pheasant pattern colorful pattern, an owl or a kestrel. Most of the time I go with the kestrels and owls. The owl species changes on a whim – snowy, spotted, barn owls. Raptors found in the Pacific NW of the US. While I love the colorful patterns of the pheasants and peacocks, I also like the gorgeous patterns that blend in with the conifer forests here at home. I spend a lot of time watching owls and hawks, and when I can I watch the migrations (there’s a major flyway about 2 hours from where I live). It’s so amazing to be watching what looks like a tree trunk and then have it blink at you :-)
