Blogathon for Charity
It must be the week/month/etc for good deeds. This past weekend, limecello raised over $1000 to give to RED by starting out a post pledging just $10. Inspired by her generosity (limecello is broke, no job and law school loans), others began to donate their money in exchange for comments as well. It was exciting to see how one person made such a big difference.
We have another cash for comment charity idea to present to you. In celebration of Liz Carlyle’s latest release, One Touch of Scandal, Avon is pledging up to $3000 to give to Liz’s chosen charity which is Cat Angels (http://www.catangelsnc.org/). She says, "It’s a small, sweet organization with fuzzy pictures and no large benefactors at all." For every comment that is made here or at other blog spots like Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, Avon will match that comment with a dollar donation.
I am, I admit, not a huge animal lover but as a user of Icanhazcheeseburger pictures every week, I should be doing something to support animal rescue efforts like those of Cat Angels. It doesn’t cost you guys anything, but a few seconds to tap out a comment in support. Thanks!

My cats are rescue kitties so I say: Go Avon! :)
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:12:29
Anything to help the kitties!!!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:12:56
I’m the original “crazy cat lady” so I’d love any comment of mine to help support a cat charity.
Hope the campaign does really well and thanks for promoting it.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:14:46
Go Avon!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:15:31
I love animals of all kinds, and this is a great effort to support an animal charity!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:15:42
Even though they make me sneeze and wheeze, I’m happy to support them with a comment.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:16:58
Four rescue kittehs are crowding around my keyboard for a big shout-out and thanks to all who’ve made this happen!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:20:37
Sigh… I’m a dog person, but I suppose I can manage a comment… : ) Sounds like a great cause.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:21:27
My kitty Coleridge was a rescue kitty, and I love him dearly. Hurray for good works in all forms!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:23:00
Aw, these blog posts make me want to go home and snuggle my three kitties. Of course they’re cats so I’d have varying degrees of success.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:25:22
Since I haven’t strangled the 3 rescue cats I have I suppose that means I love them. ;)
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:27:26
My beagle loves cats, so this comment is for her.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:28:31
My dogs are happy to have me comment if it keeps kitties from taking over their home.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:30:17
As a cat person myself and since my own cat is a rescue cat, I can’t pass up this opportunity to support a rescue organization.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:31:30
All my cats are from shelters. I hit SB already and now I’m hitting here b/c this is such a fantastic idea. Go Avon!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:31:49
The NPR station that I work for has 2 rescue cats, FM and AM. Here is to the kitties.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:32:15
Cool I’m in. What a nice deal.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:34:03
Sadly, I am allergic to kitties. :*( My sister has two rescue kitties though.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:34:11
I have a rescue kitty–the soul of a tiger in a 10-pound tabby. She utterly rules the massive Newfoundland dogs she shares house (and bed) space with. Go Liz and Avon!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:34:57
Sounds great!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:36:13
Our first two cats, two decades ago were rescue cats and so is my dog. I will also make sure to comment at the other blogs mentionned.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:38:51
Thank you for doing this. Since I love cats and several of Liz Carlyle’s books are on my proverbial keeper shelf, I hope this campaign enjoys great success.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:51:21
This is such a great cause and I am glad to help with this comment.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:55:09
I’ve always had a dog, but any animal charity is worthwhile.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 11:57:06
LOL @ icanhazcheeseburgers inspiring you !!
I missed Limecello’s blogothon by about 10 minutes. I saw the posts on twitter just as they reached their goal so I’m happy to have hit this one in time to comment and help.

This is such a wonderful idea!

Sep 27, 2010 @ 12:32:05
I haven’t seen my mother-in-law all summer because she’s devoted her house to rescue kitties. I hope the real shelters get enough money to take them from her so she can visit us again :-). Thanks, Avon & Liz C!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 12:40:59
Paranormal historical! Yes! Rescue some good kitties, Yes!!! I have 4 cats I found as strays myself so quadruple yes! I hope a ton of money is raised for this worthy cause.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 12:46:57
Money for comments for charity FTW!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 12:48:35
I love cats :D
Sep 27, 2010 @ 12:58:27

Adopt and save 2 lives!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:21:32
Thank you for posting this! I have three rescued animals (including the cutest cat ever) and routinely think I am the lucky one for being their mama.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:21:34
Meow!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:21:36
Yay, Avon!! Great cause. My 17-yr. old shelter cat (adopted when she was just a tiny kitty) approves.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:21:37
To all of our fellow furry-critter-lovers – and a special thanks to Jane for participating in this charity blogathon – THANK YOU for your warm and wonderful comments here! I’ve rescued more cats than my family has known what to do with in the past 20 years; but welcoming these little souls into our homes makes our lives so much richer. Rescue cats (and dogs, and ferrets, et al!) rule. :)
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:27:04
Good cause and nice of them to do this.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:28:42
This is for Rufus, who needed someone to love him because he had a lot of love to give. And who is very happy now.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:28:53

^_^
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:57:32
I think it’s pretty obvious from the pen name that I’m more than happy to help this cause! Plus, one of their Featured Felines on the site (Olivia) reminds me so much of my late kitty George that I had to comment.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 13:58:07
I absolutely cannot wait for this book. I’m glad to participate, even though you really don’t want to hear about my cats.
AND.
You really don’t want to know what I think of that cover. Avon, for shame.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 14:04:32
Glad to help. All of my cats have been rescue kitties.
My newest kittens Hermione and Grayson say thank you Avon.

Sep 27, 2010 @ 15:37:21
Meowwwww!
Anything for the little kitties…
Sep 27, 2010 @ 15:39:43
I wish I knew why my smaller-than-normal cat tends to be so heavy when he sleeps. Well, heavy enough to make my lap go numb. There must be a scientific explanation for this. And why a typical cat has to sit on a tiny sheet paper in the middle of a vast floor?
How about the one where a cat repeatedly cries ‘Let me out!’ at a door and after you let the cat out, it cries ‘Let me in!” a few seconds later. Why? Why? WHY?!
Thanks, Avon!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 15:39:56
anything to help!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 15:49:28

For the kitties and my sister Moe who rescues them.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 16:10:49
The fella is seriously allergic to kitties, but I grew up with a rescue kitty. (A huge Siamese tom named “Slim” who would let us dress him in doll clothes, but beat up all the other cats (& dogs) in the neighborhood, and died at very-old in a fight with a dog.) So here’s to the kitties!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 16:22:42
:) This is so sweet. I love kitties.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 16:22:46
Had many stray cats come to my door and never leave. Love those kitties!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 16:29:24
Most of my pets, feline or otherwise, over the years have been rescues.

Sep 27, 2010 @ 16:49:57
I’m more of a dog person, but I support animals in all forms. Here’s my comment!

Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:06:44
Wonderful idea.
Anybody doing something like this for the canines?
Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:20:24
I’m not really what you’d call a cat person. Even though, or especially, because I have one.
But I’m all for helping out non-profits.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:20:32
Adding my support.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:24:01

Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:42:47
I’m allergic to cats :( But they’re just so cute… so here’s my comment!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:51:51
Kitties are awesome!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 17:59:58
Thanks Avon and Liz. (This may be a repeat comment but I couldn’t see my first one and didn’t want the kitties to miss out.)

Sep 27, 2010 @ 18:32:01
I have a dog, but she’s got the personality of a cat. Hurray for Avon!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 18:32:20
This is a really cool thing for Avon to do! I’ll pull a Bob Barker and send out the message again: spay and neuter your pets to decrease the number of abandoned animals!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 18:32:57
My furry overlords have approved this post by sitting on the keyboard.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:02:16
My cats would appreciate me for commenting.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:14:02
I join the allergic-but-supportive crowd.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:19:44
I’ve had three cats and one of them I found in my back yard under our shed and I was hooked right then and there. I loved her and lost her when she got very old but I will never forget her.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:20:45
Thanks, Avon. My first cat was a rescue, but he wore a very smart tuxedo (black and white markings). He was the most relaxed cat I’ve ever encountered. Thanks, Jane, for hosting this :)
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:21:08
Great idea! An easy way to feel better about your day….and another excuse to look up lolcats
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:33:24
I support this cause as well!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:37:08
Yeah, another person who is not that excited by animals :) Still, taking care of animals that are already here is admirable, and thank anyone who feels a passion in that area and runs with it.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:48:17
Thanks, Avon! And thanks, Jane, for hosting.
BTW, I really like that Carlyle cover–it’s just a bit different than usual. I like the tenderness. So double kudos to Avon.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:58:14
Awww, kitties!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 19:59:37
We’ve always had dogs (I’m allergic to cats), but they’ve always been reascues.
Best doggies ever.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:00:02
I don’t have any rescue cats, but I do have a rescue dog, Molly. I am so glad that there was someone there in her time of need and that they were able to take care of her until she came to me.
Thanks, Avon and Liz Carlyle for doing this
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:02:08
Gilly my new kitty is from a rescue, as are my two doggies–animal rescues are the way to go!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:12:18

Looking forward to Liz Carlyle’s newest, and am happy to support the kitties!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:37:15
My current two cats found and adopted me all by themselves but my first was from the Rescue. Happy to comment.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:38:01
If you must have a pet, it should probably be rescued, rather especially over-bred and over-priced.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:41:04
So I can help kitties by just typing out nonsense? Sweet deal!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 20:56:53
Meankitty approves of this donation!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 21:07:09
One of the great loves of my life was my grey tabby cat, Max. We had quite the mutual admiration society. Gone three years ago this August and missed to this day. Here's hoping the promotion raises that $3,000.00.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 21:33:11
Kitties!

I’m a cat lover of two very spoiled cats.
Sep 27, 2010 @ 22:39:34
This is fantastic – I commented @ the Season Blog [yesterday?] and am now making the rounds.
Kudos to Avon, and the various blogs for hosting this! Hopefully the overall total of 3K across the board is met!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 22:47:29
Yay kitties!

Winky, Dutch, Spider and Bete Noire say thank you to Avon for supporting their friends!
Sep 27, 2010 @ 23:37:38
Thank you for caring for the cats of this world of ours. They need a strong advocate. My wife and I have 3 inside cats.
Walter Taylor
Sep 27, 2010 @ 23:52:30
All 6 of my kitties are rescues; rescues are the best :)
Sep 28, 2010 @ 00:06:52
Don’t know that this will work, since I already commented on one of Liz’s blogs, but the support and good thoughts are there. My rescue, a big loving “moo cat” who was abandoned after his first human died, is sprawled contentedly on a chair nearby. It still gives me chills to think we might not have found each other.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 00:09:09
Kitties!
Sep 28, 2010 @ 00:10:34
I love this idea. I am working on getting a rescue Basenji. Rescue orgs are NEVER fully funded, I think. Good for Avon for doing this.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 00:19:06
Yay for rescue kitties!
Sep 28, 2010 @ 01:45:38
Save the kitties!!
Sep 28, 2010 @ 02:30:14
How neat! I truly love this idea.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 02:51:14
You know that if cats had opposable thumbs they wouldn’t give humans the time of day, right? Or is that dolphins? I forget ;) Great to see our words have value. Great cause, good luck.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 03:36:55
I’ll gladly spend a while running around and commenting for this cause!
Sep 28, 2010 @ 04:08:39
I comment for the kitties! :3
Sep 28, 2010 @ 05:54:59
I’m so glad they are doing this. What a great idea.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 07:22:18
I have 2 rescue dogs that would not be around without organizations like Cat Angels and companies like AVON!
Sep 28, 2010 @ 07:30:34
What a lovely idea! *comments for the kitties*
Sep 28, 2010 @ 07:47:07
I have a rescue dog & guinea pig. I’ve always loved cats, had lots growing up, but allergies and asthma keep us from having any now.
Sep 28, 2010 @ 08:04:14
Growing up, many of our cats were rescue kitties. I will always adopt from rescue shelters. :)

Currently have 2 rescue kitties – one who was thrown out of a car window on a highway as it was cruising at 50 miles per hour and one who was so infested with fleas at 1 week old that she was in an incubator for days. Love kitty rescues.

I was rescued by my owner two years ago and am happy to post to raise more funds to enable more humans to be ruled by their feline betters.

As a volunteer for Cat Angels Pet Adoptions I can honestly say that each and every cat that comes through our doors is treated with the utmost love and respect and they receive all the medical care they could possible hope for. Thank you for supporting our efforts to help these beautiful creatures.

In honor of my own 20-pound, 15 year-old cat Oscar (he is a Kitler — a cat that looks like Hitler (or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles, with due acknowledgment to Jon Stewart)), I post away!!!
