Set 1 of Covers for the Berkley Giveaway Winter 2010

NO PLACE TO RUN, Maya Banks
NO PLACE TO RUN is the 2nd book in Maya’s terrific KGI series, which got off to an outstanding start with the highly powerful and emotional THE DARKEST HOUR. This time, it’s Sam Kelly’s turn in the spotlight, as a woman who disappeared from his life after a brief, unforgettable affair returns with a vengeance–and with a promise of a future together. If they can survive the danger ahead first, of course. Maya has quickly become a must-read favorite of many readers, and NO PLACE TO RUN is truly romantic suspense at it’s finest.

REAL VAMPIRES HAVE MORE TO LOVE, Gerry Bartlett
Glory St. Clair, the lovable big-boned vampire, is back, and her love life is as exciting as ever. Now, it’s her erstwhile bodyguard Rafael who has moved back into her life–and her apartment too. There’s plenty of love, laughter and sexual tension in this terrific book, guaranteed to heat up your holiday!

YOU DROPPED A BLONDE ON ME, Dakota Cassidy
National bestselling author Dakota Cassidy has wowed readers with her fun, irreverent humor and sexy romance for years. Now Dakota returns with an all new novel of contemporary romance, YOU DROPPED A BLONDE ON ME. You won't want to miss the story of Maxine Cambridge, ex-trophy wife extraordinaire who is ready to throw down some payback on her ex-life and battle for what's hers, and she’s even more determined to do it standing on her own.

Set 2 of Covers for the Berkley Giveaway Winter 2010

BLOOD CHALLENGE, Eileen Wilks
Eileen Wilks returns with the latest book in her Lupi series, and not only do Lily and Rule return, but Benedict, Rule’s enigmatic and sexy older brother, takes center stage with his own romance–and a new mate. I’ve been asking Eileen for Benedict’s story for years now, so I’m especially excited about BLOOD CHALLENGE, and I know there are a lot of readers out there who’ve been waiting for Benedict’s story too.

CHASING THE SUN, Kaki Warner
This is the enthralling conclusion to the blazingly romantic “Blood Rose” western historical romance trilogy that has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as “emotionally compelling…[and] flawlessly written.”

DARLING STRUMPET, Gillian Bagwell
For historical fiction readers out there, don’t miss DARLING STRUMPET, which details the story of Nell Gwynn, probably the most famous courtesan of the Restoration period in England and perhaps the most beloved mistress of King Charles II. This story details her beginnings in the London slums to her rise in the world of the theater where she catches the eye of the king.

Set 3 of Covers for the Berkley Giveaway Winter 2010

ARCHANGEL’S CONSORT, Nalini Singh
This is the highly anticipated third book in the Guild Hunter series, as Archangel Raphael and Guild Hunter Elena Deveraux return to New York City, and Elena’s new status as an angel and Raphael’s consort puts them in the unrelenting public eye. But they have a lot more than public opinion to worry about, as an Ancient is awakening–an Ancient who is Raphael’s mother. This book is another major step forward in the utterly compelling relationship between Elena and Raphael, and fans won’t be disappointed!

NIGHTSHADE, Michelle Rowen
NIGHTSHADE is the first in a new urban fantasy romance series that is as riveting and page-turning as it gets. Jillian Conrad is put in the ultimate wrong place/wrong time situation when she’s injected with a serum that makes her a living, breathing weapon against vampires, but the poison also makes her blood nearly irresistible to vampire senses. Now sought after by both humans and vampires, her only protection is Declan Reyes, a half-vampire who can barely control his own urges around her. The sexual tension between Declan and Jillian just sizzles. It’s edgy, dark and compulsively readable–perfect for fans of both urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

ANIMAL MAGNETISM, Jill Shalvis
Jill Shalvis consistently writes wonderful contemporary romances, and ANIMAL MAGNETISM is another winner. It features all the sparkle, humor and sensuality that Jill is known for, combined with a menagerie of adorable animals. Lilah, the heroine, owns the town’s only kennel, and is distracted by several animals when she rear-ends the hero’s truck. Sparks fly between the two, and you won’t want to miss the resulting fireworks.

I love the Berkley giveaway! Last year I won Kaki Warner’s debut and I’ve devoured every book of hers since (early review copies).

The gift I’m most excited to give: I went to Japan last month and bought some Japanese handkerchiefs for my dad and grandpa, who always have hankies on them. Now they’ll have very colorful hankies. Plus, Grandpa went to Japan just after the war and was amazed by the kindness and resilience of the people he met, so he says it’s the one place in the world he wishes he could go back to. Hankies may be small, but every time he uses them he’ll know I was thinking of him when I was there.

The books I’d like most from this giveaway: the ones by Maya Banks, Dakota Cassidy and Jill Shalvis. I love contemporaries.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

Considering the embarrassment I went through of asking the bookseller for a non-fiction with “Bogans” in the title, that bloody well be the best gift I’m giving! That bookseller may think I’m a bogan now, and crap – I have to go to that store again…

I’d most like to receive Michelle Rowen’s NIGHTSHADE, please.

I’ve been wanting to read THE PERFECT PLAY by Jaci Burton ever since you guys posted the cover. I wish I could blow that cover up to poster size and hang it on my wall. Yum.

The gift that most excites me to give this Christmas is a group of flag irises painted on a cedar panel. This is probably 100 years old and the flowers have a lovely velvety texture like old worn dresses. It is for my cousin who adores all things iris-y. This gift gave me the pleasure of finding it- I love hunting and collecting so it is special twice over.

The book that I would most like to win is BLOOD CHALLENGE by Eileen Wilks. I loved watching Rule and Lily come together over the first two books and hope for something equally poignant and healing for Benedict.

Hmmm, I’d say the gift I’m most excited to give is this bag I bought for my BFF. Every time I see her, she gushes over my purse and how awesome it is – even though it’s just a small LL Bean canvas tote – so I got her one of her own.

As for a book, I’d like Chasing the Sun by Kaki Warner.

I’ve wanted to read her books but haven’t yet because they’re priced so high. Free would do it. ;-)

I can’t wait to give my very dear friend a “Spa Day” gift certificate. She works two jobs, cares for her family, is a great mother, and still has time to show her concern and care for me as a friend.

Most excited to give? Well, I actually already gave it — I got one of those beaters for a Kitchenaid mixer that has a silicone cover so it mixes more efficiently for my mother-in-law. I wanted to give it to her early so that she could use it in baking the massive batches of Christmas cookies she makes every year.

I’m most interested in The Darling Strumpet.

    Thanks for the contest!

I am most excited about the books that I am giving my sister-in-law (my three favourite romances of 2010) and brother-in-law (books in Jim Butcher’s Dresden series).

I would most like to have either Lily of the Nile or The Irish Princess.

    Thanks for the great giveaway.

Like Shiloh, one of our kids is getting a Leapster Explorer. The older one is getting a DS, and I’m feeling very poor because of it. But, we’re hoping for some long stretches of quiet time during a 2-day drive at Christmas (during which I might be able to do some of my own writing or even watch a movie that doesn’t involve animated vegetables…) :)

I’d love the Vicki Lewis Thompson. I read Blonde with a Wand this year and I’d love to see what she does with werewolves

    Dec 13, 2010 @ 08:10:41

My family are notoriously hard to shop for. It’s pretty difficult when most of them are the “has everything” type, and their responses to what they’d like are smartass comments like, “A winning lotto ticket” or “Sanity”. Or worse, my Dad, who will tell you — and go out and buy it a week later.

So I’m looking forward to giving gift certificates to stores I know they love so they can pick out their own item and be satisfied in getting something they absolutely wanted. :P

I’m most interested in Eileen Wilk’s book. Love that series. :)

My favorite gift to I’ve this year is a really great wusthof chef’s knife to my mom. She got me a set when I moved, but doesn’t have a nice one herself. We love to cook together, so I always like kitchen tools as a present.

I would be equally happy with the Nalini Singh, the Christine Feehan, the Ava Gray, or the Dakota Cassidy. Some would be new to me and some I’m planning on buying the minute they come out regardless.

I’m reallnty excited to give all of my gifts. I love giving people presents lol. Maybe the one I’m most excited for is giving my dad his birthday present (Dec 24th birthday), since he never expects anything since people tend to overlook it with everything else going on.

The gift I’m most excited to give is a set of flannel sheets & a flannel duvet to my son. I just know he’s going to love them. He’s at the age (13) when he doesn’t want mamma hugs much at all anymore, and this is my sneaky way of hugging him all the time.

The book I want the most is Blood Challenge by Eileen Wilks. This series needs more love! It is fantastic. Really anyone who like Nalini Singh, give this series a try – I think you’ll love it.

My DD is getting married the first week in January. Her dad and I (besides the fairy tale wedding and all the trimmings) are giving her all the “little” things she and her new hubby will need to start their own home–from everything in the pantry to the cleaning supplies, to the outdoor spaces. We just thought her care package for college was big! LOL

Oooh! Benedict’s story? I want! So put me down for Eileen Wilks’ book, BLOOD CHALLENGE, please.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

I am excited to give the Charlie Brown gift set I found to my best friend that comes with a book, a little scraggly tree, and the one ornament. We have watched this together for years and she can add it to her display of her original copy of the book she had as a child.

It is not my normal thing, but I love animals and I’d like to try a new (to me) author, so Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis would be my choice from this list.

  91. Bernadette Stock

    Wow! Thanks for this contest.
I am most excited to give my mom framed black and white photographs of her parents. My grandma passed away earlier this year and when the family pooled our photos, we all saw some that we’d never seen before. We took the little 3×3 yellowed photographs of my grandma in her 20s and my grandpa in his 30s and had them blown up and framed. They’re both on bicycles in the late 1940s looking young and vibrant.
And I’m most excited to read the Jill Shalvis book. I like reading about animals if it’s not sickeningly sweet, and I’m sure Shalvis will handle that well.

The book I’d most like to receive out of the titles given is “The Perfect Play” or “Nightshade.” I know, I know. That’s more than one title but there are just so many interesting books coming out!

As a lifelong San Francisco Giants fans, I’ve ridden the “Giants fan” roller coaster of emotion my entire life. The day after they finally won their first World Series (since coming to SF in the 50′s) this year, I ordered my dad and brother fresh copies of every San Francisco Chronicle Giants special edition paper printed this year as they wound their way to the Series, along with special edition shirts. They’re going to freak!

Hmmm gift I’m most excited to give this year? I keep playing around with the idea of whether or not I’m done Christmas shopping… but I guess it’d be the fancy electric kettle my dad is getting. What book would I most like to get? Explosive by Beth Kery – when I missed the pricing blip on Amazon I nearly cried. [Really - granted for other reasons too.]

The gift I’m most excited to give is something my mother has always wanted and that is a framed picture of all her kids. She always gets a picture of all the grandkids together but has not had one of her kids together in years and years. So this year I have convinced my two brother to get together and have one taken. I know she will cry…. I would love to receive either Jill Shalvis’s Animal Magnetism or Jaci Burton’s Perfect Play.

We are giving our oldest son an iPod this Christmas. He is not expecting anything since we just helped him with repairs to his car so it will be a surprise. Hard choice my favorite would be Nalini Singh’s book Angel Consort but I also love Jayne Ann Krentz. I have the first book of Maya Bank’s series to read so the second one would be fun. But maybe I will be introduced to a new author. Always fun.

I dont really have one favorite gift over any others that Im giving. Most of what I got they specifically asked for. But I love to watch the family open them and pretend to be surprised. Really Im just a happy shopper.

You Dropped A Blonde on Me is probably first from that list. Followed closely though by Archangel’s Consort, Blood Challenge, No Place to Run and Nightshade.

I think it is the gift certificate I got for my friend. She didn’t expect anything and it is to a store that has art supplies (she loves to paint). She will be 88 years old in Feb. and is just the sweetest person you will ever meet.

I have several books I’d like on that list, but choosing one I’ll say… Nightshade by Michelle Rowen

  370. Elise K.
    Dec 13, 2010 @ 22:26:41

I would have to say this memoir novel that I’m giving to my aunt. It’s a memoir about the life of a lovely dedicated border collie and his master. My aunt just so happens to raise and show border collies, so I’m sure it will be a hit with her and their brood of puppies.

I would love to win Archangels Consort, Nightshade, or Raven’s Quest, although frankly I would be happy to win any of the books this holiday season. This is such a fantastic giveaway! Thanks!

I recently reconnected with an old childhood friend. We originally grew up in Chicago and now are both living in Boston. I’ve lived here for over ten years, but she is a recent transplant and misses deep-dish pizza something fierce. My gift to her is Chicago deep-dish from Lou Malnati’s. God bless FedEx and liquid nitrogen!

Because I’m a huge fan of the Nine Kingdom series, my book choice is Spellweaver by Lynn Kurland.

Thanks for the chance to enter!

    JILL SHALVIS PUPPY!

Sorry about that, I just can’t control myself when I see something so cute.

I’m not technically giving this away myself – I’m giving it to someone so that he can give it to someone, but it’s my favourite gift ever, so… I’m crocheting a miniature teddy bear and dressing him up as a Scotsman, with a mini-kilt and matching tam, and if I have time I’ll make some mini-bagpipes too. He’s absolutely adorable thus far :)

As for which book I’d like, I think the first part of my comment gives it away.

Berkley Giveaway is a great idea and gives readers' wallets a much needed break at the end of the year. Way to go!

I am most excited about giving a book to a friend about Lady Gaga – the lady behind the scene. She will be going to see her in concert and I can't wait hear how her knowing more about the artist will add to her awe factor. I like several titles in the giveaway list, however, the book I would most like to read right away is Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh. I love series where both female and male heroes are strong minded and lovable in their own way.

The gift I’m most excited to give for the holidays is a little silly, but it’s a new sweatshirt for my boyfriend, because I stole his around this time last year when we first started dating, and he wanted a new one. It’s the first time in my life I’ve had a boyfriend for the holidays, which is sort of sad and sort of exciting at the same time.

I’m excited to, for the first time, send out gifts to some of my author friends. These writers helped me keep my head in the game when I was really ready to scream to the world, “I’m not writing or pubbing another book! Gaaaah!” I’m sending them Otaku Tea boxes, which are quite unique.

I’d love to win MASTER OF SMOKE by Angela Knight. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Mageverse book (hard to find for the Nook).

Anyhoo, the gift im most excited about giving is a picture of me and my two sisters for my uncle in australia. I’ve never met, or seen him before but because our birthday’s are the same day, i’ve always felt a little connection – silly, but it’s nice knowing there’s some kind of recognition between the two of us, for im likely never to meet him. :( ooo, im so dramatic!

Okie, the book i would most like to receive out of the selection, is Archangels Consort by Nalini Singh – i adore the worlds she creates in her writing, and the Guild Hunter series is the best i think she’s written. I can re-read those books whenever, it doesn’t matter how many times i’ve previously read them! :)

I am most excited about giving my husband a great Christmas. This time last year we had a rough time, he was sick since Thanksgiving and in the hospital with Meningitis for two weeks. The following weeks and on Christmas he was still in bad shape. With the hospital bills and his feeling so ill, we didn’t have our traditional Christmas. I was ok with that because I still had him with me. So this year I am going all out for him!

It is not the only thing I will be getting him, but he has a love of whiskey and it comes from a NY distillery (local to us) and was the first legal distillery to open after the Prohibition so it’s a flavorful drink with an interesting history.

I would love to win a copy of A Werewolf in Manhattan by Vicki Lewis Thompson because it has a fun, kitschy title.

Oh my! I haven’t had time yet even to come up with the IDEAS for presents, so this one is a tricky question for me. And stressful. We’re trying to avoid too much hassle and unwanted/-needed stuff this year, which would only be a problem if I wasn’t so busy for the rest of the month: no time really to go browsing in the stores. But reading the other answers has been helpful, I hope you guys don’t mind if I steal a couple of ideas? ;)

I’m really looking forward to the holidays though: good food and exellent company with lots of time to just hang out with the loved ones(and eat).. =)

I can’t wait for my kiddos to open their gifts. It doesn’t really matter what I give them, they are always so appreciative. But the Wii is going to blow them out of the water!

I’ve only heard of Michelle Rowen and Nightshade (which I will read!) in that whole list, so no matter if I win the contest or not, I’ve definately got a whole new list of authors to check out, so I’ve already won!!! But Real Vampires have more to Love and Blood Challenge sound right up my alley!

    Dec 14, 2010 @ 16:52:54

Ok, there’s many gifts I’m excited about to give ayway this christmas, but one I’m especially fond of (still giving it away though) is a really lovely copy of “love in the time of cholera” by Gabriel García Márquez, it’s a kind of harback in a tiny format with very thin pages and a beautiful cover. I’m giving it to a friend, she doesn’t read a lot, but this book is so tiny she could just take it anywhere whithout needing any extra space or adding a lot of weight, I hope she likes it.

The book I’d most like to receive from the above titles would be NIGHTSHADE by Michelle Rowen.

    lovely giveaway by the way♥

I’m looking forward to my daughter’s expression when she unwraps her cotton candy maker for Christmas.

I would LOVE to win Archangel’s Consort by Nalini Singh. Angels’ Blood is the best paranormal/urban fantasy I’ve ever read and I’m addicted to Raphael, Elena, and the Guild Hunter world.

As far as a comment on this blog, I wish Cindy Hwang was my fairy bookmother. How much fun it must be to be an editor! All those worlds, beings, and stories. By the way, Michelle Rowen’s Nightshade intrigues me with her “irresistable” and “breathing weapon” to vamps character. Sounds new. Wanna read it.

Good luck readers! *whispers* But I hope I win. he he *crosses fingers*

I am looking forward in giving my dad a movie he has been waiting a long time for. “Year One” is a funny movie and he has been waiting to see it forever. I am really excited for him to open it because I know how much he has wanting to watch. I am person who loves to laugh so I think making others laugh is a great gift. He works hard for his family and is always there when we need something so it is going to feel great when I see him laughing and relaxing a little bit!

The book I am most anticipating for next year is Archangel's Consort. I think Nalini Singh is a genius and I love all the worlds she creates. I can't wait to see what happens next for Raphael and Elena. She is one of the authors that I will never get tired of. Hopefully I will find her book in my stocking:)

So, I bought him a a Cubs’ shirt, hat, gloves, and coffee mug (they were on super clearance). But then his real gift is inside the gloves which is a season pass for the 2011 White Sox season. I’m really looking forward to giving my godson a giftcard for the local bookstore. As he has gotten older it has been harder and harder to find a gift that is not Xbox related that he will actually enjoy. I really want to encourage him to become a reader, I’ve been giving him books for many years but this is the first year he will be choosing the books for himself. I’m hoping this will be the first of many books he chooses over a lifetime. I know his love of Xbox is unshakable but I just hoping that he will also continue to develop a love of reading.

My choice is: Archangel’s Consort please

The gift that I am most excited to give this holiday season has already been given. It doesn’t seem like much but I cleaned my grandmothers living room. My mother moved in with her a few years ago and about six months ago left to live with her boyfriend in FL and left all of her stuff behind along with her dogs. My grandmother has been living in deplorable conditions at the hand of my mother. I have a two year old and am in college and my grandmother works all the time. I went over yesterday and did her living room. That took me four hours and it is not finished yet. At least she can move in there now. I plan to continue to help her as much as possible. i left a note on her door saying merry Christmas love me…I know this is a long comment but this is what I am most excited to give. I would most like to recieve a copy of Blood Wyne by Yasmine Galenorn. Thank you for the opportunity to win this contest.

    Dec 15, 2010 @ 17:37:36

This year will be the first year I won’t be able to give gifts as I usually do. I’m crocheting some scarves and hats for the children of my best friend and my cousins little ones, but I’m unable to get my children something like I normally have in the past. I’m a single Mom of two wonderful, typical teenagers. The economy has finally caught up with me in a bad way and I’m barely making ends meet. This is also the first time I’ve not felt the Christmas Spirit and mentioned I didn’t feel like putting up a tree. I suggested we just set out a manger scene this year and nothing else. I’ve had a change of heart and I’ve decided that the gift I will give this year is to put up the tree even though there won’t be any gifts under it and have a wonderful dinner with my family. What is most important is getting to spend quality time with the ones you love the most. I also thought I could make up some gift certificates to put in the kids stockings that they will be able to redeem with me. The coupons will give them one on one time with me where we can talk, watch a movie/tv program, or play a game together.

I book I would love to get is either Nalini Singh, Archangel’s Consort or Ava Gray, Skin Heat.

I love to give gifts but mostly I love to give food that I made. That fills my heart.
