Shortcovers, an Indigo owned start up ebook retailer, was recently spun off into Kobo Books. Kobo has partnered with Borders and will launch a Borders branded ebook store later in 2010 (will that be too late?). Kobo has also partnered with other retailers to create an international presence. The international scope of ebook selling is one reason why territorial rights really need to be rethought for existing and future sales. Piracy has no geographic boundaries. It’s vital for authors and publishers to make their works available for sale in every territory that has demand.
Kobo has teamed up with Borders, REDgroup Retail and Instant Fame, which to you and me means that the books are available almost worldwide, in the US, Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia and Asia Pacific.

Marjorie Liu has her own casual gaming platform out from PassionFruit Games called Tiger Eye: Curse of the Riddle Box based on Tiger Eye. (yeah, I know, big surprise right?) This game will go onsale April 2010:
PassionFruit Games will mirror this international scope through two games, the first to take place in China and the second in the U.S. PassionFruit games also plans to involve readers in the release of Tiger Eye: Curse of the Riddle Box with the chance for a select few fans to be Beta testers and with fan voting on possible looks for the character, Long Nu.

Is calling the FBI the equivalent of infamous wiccan curse?
There are a couple of things that never cease to amaze me in this age of the internet:
1) That some people don’t seem to understand the concept of PUBLIC forums/boards/blogs.
2) That people that go psycho on the internet don’t realize that their idiocy is in black and white for anyone who has access to find it… and that their idiocy is going to be accessible online to potentially millions of net users for DECADES.
On top of that, everything is saved to a server. NOTHING is private on the internet.
Though I haven’t read any of Ward’s books, I enjoyed Dr. Frantz’s article. Her insights are quite interesting and now I’m intrigued to seek out more novels from the hero’s perspective, to see how different authors manage the process from emotional containment to tears when they’re giving us access to the male mind.
In reading, I was wondering how Dr. Frantz’s ideas might apply to m/m romance fiction and whether the Kinsale quote about readers wanting the hero’s point of view to the extent of rejecting “heroine-identification in favor of hero-identification” is part of the reason for m/m’s popularity.
