USA Today Besteller List, Week Ending March 11, 2007

There are very few new authors on the list this week despite March 6th being a huge release day for books. Elizabeth Vaughan’s wonderful closing to her Warlands Trilogy, Warlord, showed up at No. 126.

I was disappointed that I didn’t see Nalini Singh’s Visions of Heat as she is such a fresh and welcome voice in the paranormal romance genre. Looking at the bookscan report, she sold under 200 copies less than one of the last authors on the list. The difference between making the list and not making the list is so minute. See the USA Today Booklist site for the full list.

Morning Comes Softly, Debbie Macomber, Avon, $7.99, No. 10 (Peak 5). This is reprint is one of Keishon’s favorite Macomber books.

Lover Revealed, J.R. Ward (Onyx), $7.99, No. 17 (Peak No. 17). I don’t really get why she isn’t higher than Macomber as the Bookscan report shows that she sold far more units this past week than, well, anyone.
Hey, Good Looking, Fern Michaels, Pocket, $7.99, No. 19 (Peak No. 16).
Deadly Game, Christine Feehan, Jove, $7.99, No. 22 (Peak No. 2).
McKettrick’s Pride, Linda Lael Miller (HQN), $7.99, No. 23 (Peak 11).

Table For Two, Nora Roberts, Silhouette Special Releases, No. 31 (Peak 28).
Innocent in Death, J.D.Robb, Putnam, $25.95, No. 35 (Peak 2).
Irish Dreams, Nora Roberts (Silh Special Releasees), $7.99, No. 39 (Peak 2).
Simply Love, Mary Balogh, Dell, $6.99, No. 45 (Peak 3). Mass market release of last year’s hardcover novel. Simply Magic is due out in a couple of weeks.

Tempting Evil, Keri Arthur, Dell, $6.99, No. 57 (debut 29). This one was a NYT Bestseller last week at No. 14.
Cut And Run, Carla Neggers, Mira, $7.99, No. 60 (Peak 37).
The Island, Heather Graham, Mira, $7.99, No. 61 (Peak 45).
See No Evil Allison Brennan, Ballantine, $6.99, No. 63 (Peak 41).
A Slice Of Heaven, Sheryl Woods, Mira, $6.99, No. 67 (Peak 54).
Plum Lovin’, Janet Evanovich, (St. Martin’s Press), $16.95 No. 71, (Peak 1)

The Survivors, Dinah McCall (Mira), $6.99, No. 78 (Peak 61).
And Then He Kissed Her, Laura Lee Guhrke, Avon, $6.99, No. 81 (Peak 51). I started this last night and based on what I’ve read so far, I’m thinking that word of mouth will keep this on the list a while longer.
No Safe Place, JoAnn Ross (Pocket Books), $7.50, No. 79 (Peak 61).
A Dangerous Man, Candace Camp, HQN, $6.99, No. 87 (Peak 60).
McKettrick’s Luck, Linda Lael Miller (HQN), $7.99, No. 89 (Peak 63).

New Moon, Rebecca York (Berkley), $7.99, No. 92 (Peak 92)
Final Truth, Mariah Stewart (Ballantine Books), $7.99, No. 97 (Peak 65).

Highland Warrior, Connie Mason (Leisure), $6.99, No. 100 (Peak 100).
The Scent of Shadows, Vicki Pettersson (Eos), $6.99, No. 101 (Peak 82). This one is at the top of my TBR pile.
The Dream-Hunter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, St. Martin’s Paperbacks, $7.99, No. 107 (Peak 3).
Chosen Prey, Cheyenne McCray (St. Martin’s Paperbacks), $6.99, No. 115 (debut).

Sugar Daddy, Lisa Kleypas (St. Martin’s), $19.95, No. 118 (debut). This is No. 14 on the NYT List to be published Sunday.
The Chronicles of the Warlands: Warlord (Book 3), Elizabeth Vaughan (Tor Paranormal Romance), $6.99, No. 126 (debut).
Secret Fantasy, Cheryl Holt (St. Martin’s Paperbacks), $6.99, No. 138 (debut).
Atlantis Rising, Atlantis Rising, Alyssa Day (Berkley), $6.99, No. 148 (debut). This is not a debut or new author as some may think or have been led to think by the author’s blog. Alyssa Day also writes as chick lit author Alesia Holliday.

Nalini’s books are brilliant!!!! I love them, too. I just wanted to say that I’m so thrilled and grateful for all the attention and add that I do make it pretty clear that I’m also Alesia Holliday. :) All of my websites link to each other. I’m so thankful for all of my readers in comedy and my new paranormal readers and that people took a chance on a new paranormal author in a big way. Atlantis Rising squeaked onto the USA Today list at the bottom, but my son was happy to point out that GREEN EGGS AND HAM “is way higher than you, Mommy!”

ATLANTIS RISING is breaking bestseller records for a debut book – thank you to every single reader who took a chance on a new author!!

I don’t read your blog everyday but it is on my newsfeed. I was surprised to see the above entry on the blog as I knew you were Alesia Holliday with more than a few books under your belt.

Oh, I understand. They call it “debut” simply because with the new pen name, I went in cold to the bookstores without my previous sales to back me up. That’s sort of a marketing terminology thing. But I’ve been very open about it! I also wrote a couple of books for teens under the name Jax Abbott because I didn’t want kids to pick up my R-rated adult novels. Anyway, thank you for your terrific blog!
