USA Today Besteller List, Week Ending July 8, 2007

So my list is way late and you’ll expect another one tomorrow, right? Better late than never. The July 8, 2007, list has a surprise with Lisa Harrison’s 8th Clique novel, Sealed with a Diss, at no. 3 above even Janet Evanovich’s 13th Stephanie Plum novel, Lean Mean Thirteen. Julia Quinn’s first non Bridgerton book in 8 years, The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever, drops only two spots to no. 6.

There were only two debuts on the list but those were by established authors, Christina Dodd and Lori Foster.

Lean Mean Thirteen, Janet Evanovich (St. Martin’s Press), $27.50, No. 5 (Peak 1).
The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever, Julia Quinn (Avon), $7.99, No. 6 (Peak 4).
Country Brides, Debbie Macomber (Mira), $7.99, No. 7 (Peak 5).
Fool Me Once, Fern Michaels (Zebra), $7.99, No. 8 (Peak 9).
Twelve Sharp, Janet Evanovich (St. Martin’s Paperbacks), $7.99, No. 9 (peak 3 as a paperback release). Paperback release of hardcover
Safe Harbor, Christine Feehan (Jove), $7.99, No. 14 (Peak 3).

Angels Fall, Nora Roberts, (Jove), $7.99, No. 19 (Peak 1 – as a hardcover release). Paperback release.
Sandcastles, Luanne Rice (Bantam), $7.50, No. 22 (Peak 19). Paperback release.
Scent of Darkness, Christina Dodd, Signet, $7.99, No. 25 (debut). Dodd’s been on the USA Today list 28 times. Her contemporaries have placed the highest.
Simon Says, Lori Foster, Berkley, $7.99, No. 26 (debut).
Last Words, Mariah Stewart (Ballantine), $6.99, No. 28 (Peak 21).
Web of Love, Mary Balogh (Dell), $6.99, No.34 (Peak 23). (Reissue of out of print title).

Double Take, Catherine Coulter (Putnam), $25.95 No. 44 (Peak 10).
The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes, Jennifer Crusie, Eileen Dreyer, Anne Stuart (St. Martin’s Paperbacks), $7.99, No. 50 (Peak 31). As a piece of triva, Bet Me was Crusie’s best appearance on the list with a peak position of 24 and an 8 week appearance. The Unfortunate MissFortunes is her second highest placement.

Blood Red, Heather Graham (Mira), $7.99, No. 60 (Peak 32). This is a good atmospheric vampire story.
The Summit, Kat Martin (Mira), $7.99, No. 67 (Peak 44).

Never Lie to a Lady, Liz Carlyle (Pocket), $7.50, No. 96 (Peak 42).
The MacGregors: Robert & Cybil: The Winning Hand and The Perfect Neighbor, Nora Roberts (Silhouette Special Releases), $7.99, No. 90 (Peak 13).

Hidden Agendas (Tempting Seals, Book 4), Lora Leigh (St.Martin’s Paperbacks), $6.99, No. 124 (Peak 51). This fell the farthest but I did see it at the checkout ladder at Barnes and Noble.

The Harlequin (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 15) by Laurell K Hamilton (Berkley) $25.95, No. 125 (Peak 26).

Tempting, Susan Mallery (HQN), $6.99, No. 133 (Peak 84).

Oh, God, Jane, I don’t know how you make yourself do it. I’ve barely the energy to read through the list this time.

And I don’t like the name of Lindsey’s book. I hate women getting tamed. Tame sucks.
