Sharp Eyed Reader Spots New Sony Reader
We had to know something was up when Sony was offering its Reader for a discounted price of $50.00. A sharp eyed reader spotted a pre-order for a new Sony Reader at ABT Electronics.
.According to the specifications, the new Reader has twice the memory capacity, the improved e-ink screen technology (faster page loader, brighter resolution), and a modification of the button placement. It’s hard to say whether the form factor is a change. The biggest omission is still the lack of a built in light.

And it looks mighty purdy, too.

With Sony, a price drop usually heralds the arrival of a newer, better whatzit. Sony dropped the price of the 60GB PS3s prior to the arrival of the 80GB PS3.
Then, they stopped producing the 60 GB and allowed existing inventory to sell out. The 80 GB sells for the old, higher price.
They’ll probably do the same with the Reader. Anyone who wants the cheaper reader should buy before they’re gone.

Hmm. Abe Electronics has removed the product. Where they a little trigger happy, perhaps?
