Samhain Publishing Closed for Submissions
Apparently Samhain Publishing is closed once again for submissions but is looking for editors who don’t have an interest in writing. Sounds like Samhain is growing but needs the right staff to move forward.

I understand the situation, but with you guys closing submissions and a few of us authors now without a an editor to accept new submissions, it feels as though we’ve just be shoved right back into the slush pile. Hope things work out soon. I like working with Samhain.

Michelle, this doesn’t affect existing authors. We never close submissions to existing authors. One of the main reasons we close submissions is so editors can concentrate on the authors already contracted with Samhain. So this is actually a move in your favor. The whole reason we don’t announce submissions closing on the business loop because it doesn’t affect the current authors. Anything that affect you guys, you’d hear there first!

Angela, I have a quick submissions question? does the closing of submissions from samhain affect prospective authors that submitted a week or even a couple of days ago? Is the submission still under consideration?

No, it only affects anyone wanting to submit from the time of closing on. All submissions previous to closing (yesterday, December 20th) are fine.
Thank you, Jane/Jayne, for letting me use your blog as a place to answer questions, lol.

Any estimate on when submissions will re-open?

Unfortunately, it’s hard to estimate. I have to replace the editors who are leaving first and that’s not a quick process. Hopefully early February.
