iPhone Sales, the Kill Switch, and Kindle Numbers

There have been rumors abounding that Apple has the ability to reach into your phone and remove applications. According to Gizmodo, Apple does indeed have a “kill switch” as they call it, ostensibly to protect iPhone owners such as in the case of a virus or something.

I can’t say I like the idea that Apple can, without warning, tap into my phone and remove applications.

In other news, Apple sold 3 million 3G phones in one month and Steve Pendergrast believes that the iPhone is reducing the number of Kindle purchases. Who knows what is the truth, but the numbers of Kindle purported to be sold (240,000) sounds a bit too high given the output of the eink screen manufacturers. Not that there aren’t alot of Kindles out there. I’ve seen more Kindles than I have Sony Readers in the wild.
