Fictionwise Buys eReader from Motricity
Teleread.org reported that Fictionwise has purchased eReader store from Motricity. I think this is pretty great news and not because consolidation is good, but because as David Rothman points out in his article, the Brothers Pendergrast who own and run Fictionwise, are very plugged in to the e-community and offer a number of books on its site free of DRM.

Very cool. This is doubly cool for me because I work about a block away from Motricity’s Durham headquarters and know some people who work there. I’m sure they’re excited too.

I wonder if eReader.com will go away, or if it remains, if it will offer Fictionwise “member” discounts. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written to Fictionwise about books available in eReader format, but not available on Fictionwise’s site. Or available at one price on Fictionwise and a different one on eReader.
It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.
