Adobe to Eliminate 600 Jobs

Adobe is just another company releasing its job cuts for 2008 and 2009. Because of the economy and depressed sales, Adobe will be cutting 600 jobs from its worldwide employee rolls under a restructuring of its company’s workforce. Adobe looks to be facing a shortfall of $13 to $40 million in revenue compared to its projections.

I hate to see anyone lose their jobs and I know that Adobe’s economic troubles have little to do with its Adobe Digital Editions, but I really dislike that e reading program. We’ll watch and see what, if anything, the downturn in the economy does to the ebook DRM/format Tower of eBabel. Just remember that if Adobe stops supporting ebooks, it will be more and more difficult for you to access your DRM’ed Adobe ebooks in the future.
