Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. She's currently loving contemporary authors like Sarah Mayberry and Karina Bliss but her first love will always be the historical. Some of her old time favorites are Amanda Quick and Johanna Lindsey and some of the new favorites are Sherry Thomas, Joanna Bourne and Claudia Dain. You can reach Jane by email at jane @ dearauthor dot com
Welcome to Dear Author. If this is your first time, you may want to read our page for Readers (this is like a FAQ) or our page for Authors. We also have a handy dandy review policy page for Authors, Publishers and Publicists. We read and review romance books (with a smattering of other genre and non fiction books) from the readers' point of view.
If you want to help DA out and you shop at one of these sites, you can use the following links to give a percentage of your purchases back to DA (usually around 7%):
If you do use these, great. If not, that is fine too.

I don’t see where/how to vote. I feel dumb, but must ask.
Er…where exactly do I vote? I only see a poll up for voting on a book sequel.
I think we need an Official 30 second time out to reset the shot clock here.
Sorry – software glitch.
This is so cool ladies! Te He!
Everybody remember to go to the Smart Bitches to vote too.
I’m curious, Jayne, who you voted for in the Novel with Romantic Elements since those were two books that you recommended. No need to tell me though. I’ll just speculate to myself. I do want to read the Landon book though.
So how come they need an email addy at Smart Bitches and not here? Just curious.
I hate it when two teams – er, I mean books – I love are up against each other….Ah well, luck of the brackets.
Goooooooo, Perfidia!
Come on Mistress! Kick some Nazi hero ass!
Out of curiosity, how did Magic Bites (great book, BTW) end up in With Romantic Elements as opposed to Paranormal? Not that I'm implying it was a mistake; I'm just curious about the decision-making process.
That was my call. I wanted to include it in the tournament because it was one of my “best” books of last year, but it does not have enough romance in it to be called a romance. I thought Patricia Briggs’ book also was questionable on the romance but stronger so we stuck the Briggs book in the paranormal and the Andrews book with w RE. We had alot of great books in the NWRE section.
So how come they need an email addy at Smart Bitches and not here? Just curious.
Different polling software. Mine is based on wordpress and SB’s is based on a different software platform.
Because our software emails you a confirmation. We’re on EE, and DA is on WordPress, and our polling software are two different animals.
However, if you think it’s intrusive, please let me know. I can tell it to stop.
Hi SB Sarah,
No, not at all. I was just curious how one site asks for it and another doesn’t. In my head, I’m imagining this giant bin with all the votes in it, with some with addys (names) and some don’t. I’m still learning this game, that’s all :).
I’m probably doing this all wrong, but it’s fun.
Decisions, decisions!
I will not go down! I will win this!
