Book Pimp Post

Borders CouponReceived in the inbox today a notice that Waldenbooks and Borders Express are having a 10% off sale for all romances until August 27. You do have to be a Borders Rewards member but that’s a free deal. Here’s your opportunity to pick up Nora Roberts’ Angels Fall, Helen Kay Dimon’s Viva Las Bad Boys, Yvonne Collins and Sandy Rideout’s Speechless, and Jo Goodman’s One Forbidden Evening or any of the other books you have been thinking about but haven’t yet purchased. Go for it. You know you want to. ;)

As for me, I’ll be stopping off to pick up Primal Heat by Susan Sizemore. Is it just me or does anyone else get Susan Sizemore and Susan Squires mixed up? Anyone else got a recommendation for Jayne and I? Because I know Jayne is all over this sale too. After all, 10% means we can save as much as $.80 on some books. Which means we have $.80 more to spend on books. :)

I can’t wait for this book by Roxanne St. Claire. Kill Me Twice and Thrill Me To Death have been two incredible books. I sincerely believe they would make a great TV series. If you haven’t read them, you must.

Talk about strong, powerful and sexy men and the women are too bad either!

I bought the St. Claire book (as an ebook yeah) from SimonSays a couple days ago. I can’t wait to read them.

Just when I’ve been mentally harshing on Borders/Waldenbooks for their crappy offers (get 10% off one book but you have to spend $20 to do it), they come up with a real offer. Yippee. I’m happy now. [grin]

Yup! Over on Karen’s blog she reminded me of how much I loved ‘Pride, Prejudice and Jasmin Field’ by Melissa Nathan [one of the few chick lits I'd recommend]. The other is ‘One Hit Wonder’ by Lisa Jewell. Let’s see, ummm, oh yeah…’Lady Rogue’ by Suzanne Enoch [a historical that has finally been rereleased, ebayers were selling this one off for mucho dosh at one point], I like her historicals. I haven’t picked up Susan Andersen’s latest, ‘Just for Kicks’ but you might try it, they are usually fun Oh boy, I’m so all over this one, I’ll have to check my email and see where mine is :-)

About Sizemore: Have you read her Laws of the Blood series? It’s her non-romance vampire series. I felt it was better than the Primes.

Yeah, I’m a book pimp too! Here’s my two cents worth and maybe some lesser known authors worth a good try:

    Contemporaries:

    Lynn Michaels, Marriage by Design
    Jill Marie Landis, Heartbreak Hotel
    Susan Donovan, Kept Woman

    Paranormals:

Susan Grant, Your Planet or Mine?
    Alexis Morgan, Dark Protector
Sara Mackenzie, Return of the Highlander
    Susan Sizemore, Primal Heat

    Suspense:

    Catherine Mann, Blaze of Glory
Roxanne St. Claire, Thrill Me to Death and Kill Me Twice
    JoAnn Ross, Blaze

    Erotic Romance:

    Lisa Marie Rice, Midnight Run
    Lora Leigh, Megan’s Mark (I love Lora Leigh’s Breed’s!!!)
Jory Strong, any of the Crime Tells series – Lyric’s Cop is my favorite

I would have a ton more recommends, but they might be out after the promo is over!!

Amen to that. I haven’t bothered to go there for months since they started doing that stupid promotion. Looks like I need to make a trip. As if I need any more books, but I can’t resist 10% off all romances . . .

Hmmm. Maybe I will try Donovan’s book but I heard the hero is a bit of a jerk. I don’t really like jerky heroes.

I have Morgan’s book and MacKenzie’s book. I also have read JoAnn Ross’ Blaze. Here’s an example of how different our reading tastes are, Jolie, because this was a thumbs down read for me.

But, I will be adding Lois Greiman’s Tempting the Barbarian because last night I read Tempting the Wolf and enjoyed it. I know, you told me to read her years ago and I did buy the books (Unzipped and something) but never read them. Tsk tsk me.

May: I have read the Blood series and love it. You are completely right that it is better than the Prime series. The vampires were more morally ambiguous and her world building was more complicted and rich.

Tilly, I have Enoch and Anderson. But I am intrigued by the chick lit recommendation although now that I know what happens to the author, it kind of makes me sad.
