Wake (Wake Trilogy Series #1) by Lisa McMannWake by Lisa McMann. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Not all dreams are sweet.

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody- notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can’t tell anybody about what she does — they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant….

Reviews say great idea, not so awesome execution. It’s a bit shallow but the storyline is interesting.

Master of Love by Catherine LaRocheMaster of Love by Catherine LaRoche. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Available on eBook—a sexy historical romance featuring a genteel book dealer who is commissioned to organize an impressive personal library in the home of London’s most notoriously seductive lord.

Dominick Avery, Viscount Rexton, has a brilliant mind, yet is so intoxicatingly handsome no one ever takes him seriously as the philosopher he longs to be. He cultivates a wicked reputation as Lord Adonis, Master of Love, until his uncle sends him an irresistible bequest of books, on the condition he accept also the prim librarian who comes with them.

Miss Callista Higginbotham struggles to support her quirky household as a rare book dealer and librarian, while tottering on a dangerous edge of genteel poverty. But she quickly finds herself in greater danger yet, as her newfound desire flares for the infuriatingly flirtatious lord. Dominick wants nothing more than to unleash his luscious new librarian from her straight-laced propriety. He’s learned, however, never to trust desire—let alone the consuming passion that soon bedevils him.

Both must learn not to judge a book by its cover. But when Callista discovers a plot against Dominick’s life and risks all to save him, they both learn that love is the one lesson that cannot be learned from books…

Available on ebook…that’s a weird phrase. The negative reviews say that the lack of communication is really problematic.

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

The movie may not have been a success, but the book series is.

Lost and Found (Lost & Found, #1) by Nicole WilliamsLost and Found by Nicole Williams. $ .99.

From the Jacket Copy:

From New York Times & USATODAY Bestselling Author Nicole Williams, a story about a troubled girl, a good guy, and one summer that will forever change them both.

There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

*Recommended for mature readers due to moderate language and sexuality. *

The second book in the LOST & FOUND series: NEAR & FAR
The third and final book in the LOST & FOUND series: FINDERS KEEPERS

Cute book with a perfect hero. The reviews say that the tone is more YA than adult.

Hey all, I think there is a problem with the Amazon affiliate search box. I was trying to buy something through DA and no matter what search terms I used or what department I selected, the search was returned with no results. Just a heads-up,

I read WAKE when it came out and had a different cover. I really liked it–sort of spare and atmospheric and tense with a low-key romance. I also appreciated how experiencing other people’s dreams helped solve the mystery.

Also loved the Vampire Academy series.

While on the topic of website errors, I’m finding whenever I click an author on the ‘list of authors reviewed’ I get a 404 error and when I do a search in the search box I get an error so have been using google to search for old Dear Author stuff. Anyone else with the same issue or just me?

Does anyone know if Lost & Found has a clilffhanger/no HFN/HEA ending? I can see that the second book features the same couple but the third book is about a different hero (and I’m hoping a different heroine).

@Rachel: I didn’t realize the search box wasn’t working. I’m struggling with the author list. Hopefully I can get that resolved soon.

@Jane: Since we’re talking site issues, I don’t see an affiliate link to ARe anymore – not sure if that’s an intentional change or just an updating glitch. And I’m glad you’re working on the author list – I miss the author word cloud.
