From the Jacket Copy:

For Tobin and Delia, everything was always equal.

A bargain, a trade, a deal to be struck.

A kiss for a kiss.
Your shirt for mine.
Break my heart, I’ll break yours.

Their disastrous split was no different. Tobin’s spent the last year pretending Delia never existed, and Delia’s been in D.C., pretending to be anything but the country girl that she is.

When tragedy brings her back to town, Tobin and Delia realize that time apart hasn’t healed either one of them. But staying away from each other is harder than they imagined, especially in small town Louisiana, and old feelings are quickly brought back to the surface.

In the mess they’ve created, is there anything to be salvaged of a love that they both thought would be forever?

**The companion book/prequel MY FATE FOR YOURS, is available now!**

Flashbacks on every page. Beware if that is a storytelling device you don’t like. A number of reviewers complained it was very slow.

Demon Possession by Kiersten FayDemon Possession by Kiersten Fay. $ .99.

From the Jacket Copy:

After being enslaved on the spaceship Extarga for most of her life Analia has no memory of her life before, and has lost all knowledge of her people. Her mysterious gift and pointed ears are the only indication that she is different.
Analia is alone, and for all she knows, she’s the last of her kind. By chance Analia escapes her captors, and hides herself on the merchant ship Marada, planning to get off at the very next stop.

Unfortunately for her, there is no next stop. The crew is planning a delivery that could take months, and according to a stipulation in the newly signed contract, no one is allowed on or off the ship until the package is delivered.

When Analia is found by the captain of the Marada, she must adapt to her new role on the ship, and try to control her newly awakened desire for the brutal and devastatingly erotic demon.

The two star reviewer liked the story but the editing was terrible. “Words like asilentwithered or warmthSebastianpul do no exist last time I checked!!! So for the love of god find out what the space key is intended for and USE IT!”

Perhaps the book has been reedited since July of 2012? We can only hope although the blurb does not say it is newly edited as some self published books do.

I read Demon Possession several years ago and I remember thinking the story was great. But the editing was really awful. IIRC it switched tenses from past to present frequently in the middle of paragraphs, in addition to the typos and misused words. It made me really sad because I felt that with a good edit this book could be fabulous. I never tried any more in the series because there was no indication any of them had been edited.

But for people who aren’t bothered by lack of editing, 99 cents is a really good sale since I believe it is regularly more like $8.

A heroine in an erotic romance named ANALIA? Ouch. Or maybe not.

To bad about the editing. I’ve been on a SFR kick and would’ve gotten that one.

@MaryK: Have you tried Cathryn Cade’s books? She writes SFR and I enjoy them.

@Julia: That makes me sad. And at 8.99 or so, you’d think she had the funds to get a copyedit at least. Maybe a proof? You can get a decent proof for under $300

I bought Demon Possession and I generally like it so far. But the lack of editing is clear. I am interested in checking out the rest of the series, but all the books are 7.99. I just can’t understand why. These books have to be self-published and they are more expensive than traditionally published books with good editing. I don’t think I can bring myself to pay $8 for books where the author doesn’t bother to edit her work. I checked out the author’s website and it is neat. I really want to email the author and question her on her price points (for self-pub and lack of editing, her prices seem silly), but I can’t think of way for that email not to sound offensive. I am just going to have to hope she has sales on her other books because I NOT paying her current prices.
