Daily Deals: Suspenseful reads from Banff to San Francisco

High Risk by Vivian ArendHigh Risk by Vivian Arend. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

LIFELINE: an elite search-and-rescue squad based out of Banff, Alberta. Specializing in high-risk rescue missions, this team goes wherever the job takes them…

Rebecca James was once revered for her devil-may-care attitude and backcountry survival skills. But ever since she lost her partner in a fatal accident, patches of her memory have been missing. And until she can recall those final, tragic moments before the accident, she can’t move on.

Since Marcus Landers was permanently injured during a mission, all his energies have been focused on his Lifeline team. When Becki—whom he had an intense affair with seven years ago—arrives in Banff, he’s inspired to reignite the spark they once had. Their mutual ardor slowly awakens Becki’s dormant, haunting memories.

New truths surface until Becki must at last confront her greatest fear. Remembering the past might mean a future without the man she loves…

I thought maybe Kati D had done a review of this book but I couldn’t find one at DA. Mandi from SmexyBooks said that the sex wore her out.

Daysider (Harlequin Nocturne Series #165) by Susan KrinardDaysider by Susan Krinard. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Human/vampire relations are in turmoil in a stunning new series by New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Susan Krinard.

Tensions between human and vampire factions are escalating. Peace hangs in the balance. And like two ill-fated stars, Alexia Fox and Damon are destined to collide. She’s a seductive human operative on a mission to infiltrate an illegal vampire colony. He’s a vampire and represents everything she loathes—and all that she desires. Their attraction is scorching, immediate?and could explode like the fragile truce they’ve both been fighting independently to preserve. Now the world’s last hope hinges on their ability to work together. As enemies they are doomed, but as allies they just might save the world.

Melindeeloo is one of my fave PNR reviewers on Goodreads. She says that there is a lot going on and the relationship development suffers.

Wounded Prey: Introducing Detectives Farrell and Kearns by Sean LynchWounded Prey by Sean Lynch. $ 1.99.

From the Jacket Copy:

“It’s time to finish what he started…”

A young girl is snatched in broad daylight from outside her school and later found brutally murdered and hanging from a tree.

When recently retired San Francisco Police Inspector, Bob Farrell, sees this on the news, he realises his worst nightmare has just come true. The same brutal killer a government agency stopped him from putting away twenty years before is once more on the loose.

As the killer wreaks a trail of blood and destruction across North America, Bob Farrell sets out to track him down.

But Farrell’s not playing by the rules any more than the killer is, and soon the FBI have both of them in their sights…

I selected this book for inclusion last night and can’t for the life of me remember why now. It’s cheap and a suspenseful sounding book? Yeah, let’s go with that.

BWA! My young nephew’s action-packed novel about an invasion of alien vampires is set in Banff, and I’ve been trying to persuade him it’s a bit of location vs plot mis-match. That shows me!
