The Truth About Mr. Darcy by Susan AdrianiThe Truth About Mr. Darcy by Susan Adriani. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

(This book was previously self-published as Affinity and Affection)

In this hot tale, Mr. Darcy confesses the truth about George Wickham right from the start, warning Elizabeth and the rest of Meryton about Wickham’s despicable character. Will his honesty change the way Elizabeth feels about him and his previous poor behavior? Will he still have to transform himself to win her love? And what will happen when scandal erupts?

This is apparently the sexy version of Pride & Prejudice I guess. Reviews say it is a guilty pleasure or even a Jane Austen porno.

Hot, sweet, fun and romantic. Pure pleasure!” — Robyn Carr, New York Times bestselling author on Simply Irresistible

Love awaits you in Lucky Harbor . . .

Simply Irresistible

After losing her boyfriend and her job, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim her inheritance-a ramshackle inn nestled in the little town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. She sees the potential for a new home and a new career-if she can give the inn the makeover it needs. Enter Jax, a tall, handsome contractor who knows exactly what Maddie needs…

The Sweetest Thing
Helping her sister set up the family inn is just the thing to make Tara forget her ex-husband and focus on her new life. Until she meets a sexy, green-eyed sailor determined to keep her hot, bothered, and in his bed. When her ex reappears, Tara must confront her past and decide what she really wants.

Kissing Santa Claus
NASCAR driver Logan Perrish returns to Lucky Harbor, Washington, with love in his heart and a ring in his pocket. But can Sandy Jansen forget the past and give him a second chance? Or will Logan be spending another Christmas alone?

Under the Mistletoe
There’s no place like home for the holidays. And the Lucky Harbor Bed & Breakfast is bursting with festive lights and good cheer. But for Mia, Christmas is turning out to be anything other than merry and bright. Her recent break-up with her boyfriend Nick has made her return bittersweet. But then a surprise arrives, when Nick follows her to town bearing gifts – and asking for forgiveness.

In this “bundle” you get the first two full length novels in the Lucky Harbor series as well as two short stories. This is a pretty good deal if you are looking to try out Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor.

Heart of Venom Jennifer EstepHeart of Venom by Jennifer Estep. $ 2.99

From the Jacket Copy:

When I say you’re a dead man, take that literally.

To me, killing people is like a day at the salon: cut and dry. Well, more like rinse and repeat when you moonlight as the assassin the Spider. But my last spa day ended redder than my freshly painted nails after a twisted Fire elemental and his goons kidnapped my close friend Sophia Deveraux and nearly killed her sister Jo-Jo in the process.

Up Ashland’s most dangerous mountains, and deep into the heart of its blackest woods—I’ll track these thugs no matter where they take Sophia. It doesn’t matter what kinds of elemental magic they try to throw at me, my Ice and Stone powers can take the heat and then some. I
will get Sophia back, over their dead bodies.

Because anybody that hurts Gin Blanco’s family becomes a body.

This is the 9th book in the Elemental Assassin series. I read the reviews but it’s hard to say whether a new reader could jump in with this book and the negative reviews say a lot about unfulfilled expectations of the series like this isn’t the book where “MM Monroe” is revealed. A few of the reviews said the book was rather gruesome.

A Study in Silks (Baskerville Affair Series #1) by Emma Jane HollowayA Study in Silks by Emma Jane Holloway. $ .99.

From the Jacket Copy:

Evelina Cooper, the niece of the great Sherlock Holmes, is poised to enjoy her first Season in London Society. But there’s a murderer to deal with—not to mention missing automatons, a sorcerer, and a talking mouse.

In a Victorian era ruled by a council of ruthless steam barons, mechanical power is the real monarch and sorcery the demon enemy of the Empire. Nevertheless, the most coveted weapon is magic that can run machines—something Evelina has secretly mastered. But rather than making her fortune, her special talents could mean death or an eternity as a guest of Her Majesty’s secret laboratories. What’s a polite young lady to do but mind her manners and pray she’s never found out?

But then there’s that murder. As Sherlock Holmes’s niece, Evelina should be able to find the answers, but she has a lot to learn. And the first decision she has to make is whether to trust the handsome, clever rake who makes her breath come faster, or the dashing trick rider who would dare anything for her if she would only just ask.

This is a Sherlock Holmes-ish book as Evelina Cooper is Holme’s niece. PW says that there is a focus on Evelina’s friendship with Imogen but that Holmes himself may play too important of a role in solving the mystery.

Also, love triangle. But the cover looks cool, right? And its got a cover quote from Jacqueline Carey.

I am actually reading Christmas in Lucky Harbor in paperback right now. I just don’t know if I can bring myself to pay $2.99 for two short stories when I already own the book.
As for Jane Austen Porno, lol, I think I will have to pass. Some stories are just too sacred to me ;-)

Lauren Willig’s “The Mischief of the Mistletoe” is currently $3.99 (down from $10.99) in the kindle edition. I just bought it after rereading Jayne’s review.
