The Cowboy Takes a Bride by Lori Wilde The Cowboy Takes a Bride by Lori Wilde. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

Ex-champion bull rider-turned-cutting-horse cowboy Joe Daniels isn’t quite sure how he ended up sleeping in a horse trough wearing nothing but his Stetson and cowboy boots. But now he’s wide-awake, and a citified woman is glaring down at him. His goal? Get rid of her ASAP. The obstacle? Fighting the attraction he feels toward the blond-haired filly with the big, vulnerable eyes.

When out-of-work wedding planner Mariah Callahan learns that her estranged father has left her a rundown ranch in Jubilee, she has no choice but to accept it. Her goal? Redeem her career by planning local weddings. The obstacle? One emotionally wounded, hard-living cowboy who stirs her guilt, her heartstrings, and her long-burned cowgirl roots . . .

This is part of the series that we promo’ed in a giveaway last week.

My Favorite Mistake Chelsea CameronMy Favorite Mistake by Chelsea Cameron. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

Taylor Caldwell can’t decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome, blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he’s a tattooed, guitar-playing bundle of bad boy. Maybe that’s why Taylor’s afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn’t want to get burned, and even though her other roommates adore him, she wants him gone before it’s too late.

Hunter himself has been been burned before, but the fact that Taylor calls him out on his crap and has the sexiest laugh ever make him decide maybe love isn’t a lost cause. They make a bet: if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him, he’ll leave the apartment–and leave her alone. The problem is, the more time they spend together, the less she hates him, and the more she moves toward love.

But when the man who holds the key to Taylor’s fear of giving up her heart resurfaces and threatens to wreck everything, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

I confess that I struggled with this book. The heroine was pretty awful and the male character almost too perfect. I understood at the end what the author was trying to do but it read disjointed to me. However, it has been very successful and my understanding is that it is in the process of being picked up by a major publisher. $.99 is probably the lowest price it will be for a long time.

The Wild One by Danelle HarmonThe Wild One by Danelle Harmon. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

“The bluest of blood, the boldest of hearts; the de Montforte brothers will take your breath away.” England, 1776: Lord Gareth de Montforte is known as an irresponsible rake with a heart of gold. When he takes a bullet for boldly thwarting a stagecoach robbery, he is stunned to discover that the beautiful young woman he has heroically rescued, Juliet Paige, is his deceased brother’s American fiancée, accompanied by her infant daughter. Despite his brother the duke’s refusal to acknowledge Juliet, Gareth is determined to do right by the courageous woman who crossed an ocean to give her baby her rightful name. But Juliet is wary of marrying this black sheep aristocrat, even while she is hopelessly charmed by the dashing devil. Never has she met anyone who embraces life so thoroughly, who makes her laugh, who loves her so well. And, even when it seems the odds are against them, Juliet has absolute faith that Gareth will go beyond the call of duty, risking his life itself to give her and her daughter a home — and a love that will last a lifetime.

I know some of the DA readers will be dancing for joy over this. Harmon’s de Monteforte series is republished and the first one is only $.99. Get it while it’s hot (aka cheap).

Within Reach by Sarah MayberryWithin Reach by Sarah Mayberry. $ Free.

From the Jacket Copy:

Being a single dad was never on Michael Young’s agenda. Yet with the sudden loss of his wife, that’s exactly the role he has. On his best days, he thinks he can handle it. On his worst… Luckily, family friend Angie Bartlett has his back, easily stepping in to help out.

Lately, though, something has changed.

Michael is noticing exactly how gorgeous Angie is, and how single she is. She’s constantly in his thoughts and he feels an attraction he never expected. Does he dare disrupt the very good thing they have going? If they have a fling that goes nowhere, he stands to lose everything–including her. But if they make it work, he stands to gain everything!

Use the code ThanksFBFans and download the free ePub direction from Harlequin.com
This is a more somber story as Michael Young and Angie Bartlett deal with the death of Michael’s wife and Angie’s sister at heart.

Dabney wrote the review here at Dear Author:

This conflict between desire and denial is beautifully portrayed in Within Reach. Your deft writing makes the grief and guilt Michael and Angie feel palpable; I teared up several times as I read Within Reach. Billie’s death is also so damn sad for her kids–both of whom are wonderfully rendered–that, at times, I had to put the book down and collect myself. I loved the sorrow in this book–it’s the sort that makes one appreciate being alive and able to love.

On ‘My Favourite Mistake’: my mother-in-law used to read Christian novels by Taylor Caldwell. I really don’t think it’s going to work for me as the name of a heroine!
