Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night Kresley ColeWicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night by Kresley Cole. $3.99.

From Jacket Copy:

Her breathless kiss haunts him…
Bowen MacRieve of the Lykae clan was nearly destroyed when he lost the one woman meant for him. The ruthless warrior grew even colder, never taking another to his bed — until a smoldering encounter with his enemy, Mariketa the Awaited, reawakens his darkest desires. When sinister forces unite against her, the Highlander finds himself using all his strength and skill to keep her alive.

His slow, hot touch is irresistible…

Temporarily stripped of her powers, Mari is forced to take refuge with her sworn adversary. It’s rumored that no one can tempt Bowen’s hardened heart, but soon passion burns between them. Though a future together is impossible, she fears he has no intention of letting her go.

No deed is too wicked for her seduction…

If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul — or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

This is the lowest I’ve seen this book priced. It’s the third book in the series although you can probably read this without having read the first two. It’s fairly sexy and I admit that although I didn’t love it the first time around. It has grown on me. Robert Petkoff does a FANTASTIC narration.

The Thorn Birds Colleen McCullough The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. $2.99.

From Jacket Copy:

Now, 25 years after it first took the world by storm, Colleen McCullough’s sweeping family saga of dreams, titanic struggles, dark passions, and forbidden love in the Australian Outback returns to enthrall a new generation. As powerful, moving, and unforgettable as when it originally appeared, it remains a monumental literary achievement—a landmark novel to be read . . . and read again!

Forbidden love. Really forbidden love.

Road Dogs Elmore Leonard Road Dogs by Elmore Leonard. $1.99.

From Jacket Copy:

Every prison inmate needs a Road Dog – someone to watch their back, someone they can trust on the inside and out. For wealthy Cuban criminal Cundo Rey, that person is Jack Foley: charmer, ladies’ man and infamous bank robber. With the services of a shark attorney and a whole heap of cash, Cundo engineers his buddy’s early release, and Jack is soon living large in Cundo’s house in Venice Beach, enjoying the attentions of his sexy wife, Dawn. But Dawn has ulterior motives and a plan: to relieve her husband of his considerable fortune… and she needs Jack’s help. But with Cundo’s release imminent and rogue FBI agent Lou Adams on his tail, just who can Jack trust if he’s to pull off the biggest score of his life…?

This was a best of May 2009 title for Amazon and a kind of sequel to Out of Sight. In the interview posted on Amazon, Elmore Leonard admits that he pictured George Clooney when he wrote this book (Clooney played Jack Foley in the movie version of Out of Sight). The Amazon editorial review says that the fun in the book is the dialogue:

As so often with Leonard, the real fun is less in the action than the talk, especially from Foley, the pleasure-minded, level-headed hood: an ex-con whose biggest con may be that he is exactly who he says he is. –Tom Nissley

The Lost (Sin Hunters) Caridad Piñeiro The Lost by Caridad Piñeiro. $1.99.

From Jacket Copy:

Adam Bruno is no ordinary millionaire. The heir to an ancient race possessing a dark, powerful magic, he can shapeshift and create energy. His gifts make him a living weapon and have forced him to live in seclusion. But now an inhuman force hunts down Adam-just when he finds someone who makes him feel more human than he ever imagined possible . . .

Home from combat in Iraq, Bobbie Carerra wants only peace, yet soon joins Adam in a terrifying battle against paranormal enemies who hide in plain sight. She’s drawn to his strength of mind and body; he’s attracted to her courage and intoxicating energy. Their scorching passion can either transport them to the heights of ecstasy or-if Adam’s powers rage out of control-destroy them. But when an invisible brotherhood tightens its nets and someone Adam trusts betrays him, only a heartrending decision can save them.

The reviews for the book are largely positive but they also sound kind of plastic. Jen from Red Hot Books gave it 3.5 stars “It took me a little while to invest in the story. Several characters are introduced in a very short time and there is extensive world-building surrounding Adam’s people. And honestly, I struggled at times to keep everyone straight. But despite that, Caridad Pineiro created two main characters that were very sympathic and I found myself rooting for their happy ending. It’s always a peeve of mine when a couple throws out the “L”-word after only a few days together –and unfortunately that was the case here. However, I did enjoy the love scenes and the way they transcend traditional sex. “

Road Dogs is now $2.99 at the Kindle Store. I was thinking of buying it until I saw that. Strange how $1 can make all the difference.

Adam Bruno is no ordinary millionaire

Am I the only one who cracked up at reading that?

What have romance novels done to our expectations of “ordinary”?

Thanks for sharing the special pricing on THE LOST. This novel was nominated for a 2012 RITA in the paranormal romance category which was very exciting for me. I hope readers will love Bobbie and Adam as much as I do.
