There are a couple Amazon only deals that I can’t resist sharing.

GAME ON by Tracy SolheimGame On by Tracy Solheim. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

In the first irresistable sports romance in the Out of Bounds series, the only way to win is to score…

With a reputation for fast moves on the gridiron and even faster moves off the field, Shane Devlin was a player in every sense of the word. Unfortunately, his bad-boy persona has made him a risky prospect as a quarterback, and only the Baltimore Blaze are willing to give him a chance. And he’s about to take a hit he never expected.

Working for the Blaze, Carly March knows too well how jocks think—and what they think with—so she’s always made a point of keeping them at arm’s length. But when she shares a kiss with the devilishly handsome Shane, she finds it hard to play by her own rules—and even harder to resist him.

Can a football hero and a business-minded beauty take it all the way? Or will their mutual attraction cost them the big game?

I’d recommend this book at the purchase price of $1.99 with caveats.

From the Jacket Copy:

Dark Matters Series
Book 1

** Limited time promotional price **

Lady Lily d’Bulier is prim, proper, and prefers to think of herself as pragmatic rather than timid. And avoiding life-threatening situations at all costs is just plain practical. But everything changes when Lord Adair tracks her down in London; searching for answers he seems to think she has.

Greyston Adair is a blackguard and a smuggler, although British Customs will have to catch him red-handed to prove the latter. Fortunately, the dirigibles they float around in have never been able to get near his air dust.

Hell is rising, One Demon at a Time…

With Lady Ostrich hunting them, and the mystery of how their lives tie back to Cragloden Castle and the powerful McAllister clan, Lily has no option but to throw propriety to the wind and run off with Greyston to Scotland, away from the immediate danger and toward possible answers.

Dark Matters series so far:
1. A Matter of Circumstance and Celludrones
2. A Matter of Propriety and Parasites
3. A Matter of Desire and Dirigibles

Book 2 is on sale for 99c as well at Amazon. There don’t appear to be editing issues and the negative reviews indicate that if you like steampunk, this might appeal to you.

America's Bravest by Kathryn ShayAmerica’s Bravest by Kathryn Shay. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

USA TODAY bestselling author Kathryn Shay spent five years riding fire trucks with a large city fire department, eating in their firehouses and interviewing hundreds of America’s Bravest. Read the novellas that resulted from her intense relationship with firefighters!

“Shay’s powerful characters and emotional topics strike a chord with her readers and have earned her a well-deserved place among the top romance authors.” Waldenbooks Romantic Reader

The Rescue Squad in the Hidden Cove Fire Department deals with all kinds of emergencies: blazing fires, horrific car accidents and a myriad of medical calls. Like most firefighters, they also have complicated personal relationships due to the nature of their jobs. In AMERICA’S BRAVEST, each of the six novellas details both the love and work of one firefighter with overarching themes of arson, a blogger out to discredit them, and balancing their personal and professional lives.

In IN TOO DEEP, Captain Gabe Malvaso struggles with his attraction to Rachel Wellington, a firefighter on his squad. But when they’re trapped in a basement, thinking they’ll die, all bets are off.

HOT SHOT picks up with Paramedic Brody O’Malley, who’s happy with single life until a class reunion where he meets Emma Walsh, the only woman he ever loved. But because he broke her heart, she refuses to rekindle old flames.

WORTH THE RISK follows Ryan O’Malley, Brody’s twin cop brother, as he pursues prickly Lieutenant Felicia White, who’s always disliked his “playboy” persona. But when they are forced to work together on an arson case, sparks fly.

EL BOMBERO is the story of Firefighter Tony Ramirez and his beloved wife Sophia, sweethearts since high school, who run into the biggest challenge of their lives: Sophia can no longer tolerate the danger her husband is in every day.

In RESCUE ME, twenty-four-year-old Sydney Sands saves the life of local businessman Max Delinsky only to fall head over heels in love with him. But trouble comes in merging the discrepancy in their ages and Max’s difficulty with her past.

TRIAL BY FIRE tells the story of Battalion Chief Cal Erikson who has been fighting for two years with blogger Parker Allen about the fire department. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself attracted to the feisty journalist with deep scars from her past. The arson case is solved but not before both their lives are endangered.

In THE EPILOGUE, get a closer look at how all six couples live happily ever after!

These are novellas and not full length novels but you do get several in one collection.

From the Jacket Copy:

Red-hot writer Jill Sorenson brought readers to the edge of their seats in Aftershock. Now they can catch the beginning of Paul and Ella’s relationship in this fast-moving novella packed with danger and delight!

It started as a girls’ outing to California’s beautiful Channel Islands State Park. When Ella Hammond embarks on a kayaking trip with sexy adventure guide Paul Dawson, sparks fly—but so does gunfire from a boat of drug smugglers.

Now Ella and Paul are on the run, soaked and stranded in a rocky hideout. Ella feels like she’ll never be warm again. Until Paul shares his body heat—igniting a fire between them that’s nearly too hot to handle!

The adventure continues in Backwoods, and pick up Paul’s sister’s novella in Passion and Peril, both from Harlequin HQN!

This is a freebie prequel novella. I’m not certain how long it is.

What caveats on the Game On book? I’ve been waffling about it for a couple of days now.

I just saw that the first three books in J.C. Daniels’ (Shiloh Walker) Colbana Files series are on sale for $1.99 each too: Blade Song, Night Blade, Broken Blade.

I just can’t take plots with “bad boy” players needing image adjustments seriously. The NFL has no problem with actual felons so long as they’re good at what they do. Any guy who’s “bad” enough that only one team will look at him (Vick is the only example I can even think of where the stink was so high a lot of teams wouldn’t take him) would be waaaaaay too bad a person for me to deal with him as a hero.

    @Isobel Carr:
I agree, and it’s such an easy fix: the image makeover should be needed to keep sponsors happy/get new sponsorship deals, rather than a team-mandated thing. So long as being a bad boy doesn’t impact someone on the field, nobody is going to care.

I remember a similar plot in a baseball romance a while ago, in which the team wouldn’t sign a top pitcher to an extension unless he cleaned up his image. This would only happen in an alternate universe in which mid-market teams have an excess of cheap top players to pick from.

@Angela, I’ve got all three of the JC Daniel’s books. Similar in idea to the Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series.
