Scandalized by a Scoundrel Erin KnightleyScandalized By A Scoundrel by Erin Knightley. $ Free at Smashwords

From the Jacket Copy:

In all his years in the army, Lord Gabriel Winters never once would have described his opponent as beautiful. But when he finds himself staring down the barrel of Miss Amelia Watson’s pistol, it’s the only word that comes to mind. Despite her clear distrust of him—and not to mention his own determination to avoid English women at all costs—Gabriel is more than intrigued by his friend’s bold neighbor.

Amelia has plenty of reasons to distrust strangers, and the broad-shouldered, devilishly handsome viscount deserves no exception. But when he challenges her to lay down her weapon and learn to fight in a new way, she finds herself capitulating. He may be a scoundrel, but he’s also the first person in years to look at her without the blasted pity she hates so much.

Though the lessons start out innocently enough, the heady pull of attraction soon gets in the way. They’re as incompatible as water and gunpowder, so why is she suddenly looking forward to the thought of being . . . Scandalized by a Scoundrel?

***This is a novella of approximately 26,000 words***

CZ36E and the offer is good until Christmas at Smashwords.

Kristen Ashley The Golden DynastyThe Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley. $ .99

From the Jacket Copy:

Circe Quinn goes to sleep at home and wakes up in a corral filled with women wearing sacrificial virgin attire – and she is one of them. She soon finds out that she’s not having a wild dream, she’s living a frightening nightmare where she’s been transported to a barren land populated by a primitive people and in short order, she’s installed very unwillingly on her white throne of horns as their Queen.

Dax Lahn is the king of Suh Tunak, The Horde of the nation of Korwahk and with one look at Circe, he knows she will be his bride and together they will start The Golden Dynasty of legend.

Circe and Lahn are separated by language, culture and the small fact she’s from a parallel universe and has no idea how she got there or how to get home. But facing challenge after challenge, Circe finds her footing as Queen of the brutal Korwahk Horde and wife to its King, then she makes friends then she finds herself falling in love with this primitive land, its people and especially their savage leader.

This was like the sexier version of Warlord. It’s cracktastic and the very first thing I read by Kristen Ashley. The heroine in this story almost literally shits rainbows. I can’t explain why I enjoyed it so much but basically at 99c you should buy it for that rainy day when you want to read Barbarian sexy times.

Wounded by Jasinda WilderWounded by Jasinda Wilder. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

War has taken everything from me. My family. My home. My innocence. In a country blasted by war and wracked by economic hardship, a young orphan girl like me has very few options when it comes to survival. Thus, I do what I must to live, to eat, and I try very hard to not consider the cost to my soul. My heart is empty, and my existence brutal.
The one impossibility in my life is love.

And then I meet HIM.

War is hell. It takes a chunk out of a man’s very soul to do the kinds of things war demands of you. You live with fear, you live with guilt, and you live with nightmares. If you haven’t been through it, there’s no understanding it. War leaves no room for love, no room for tenderness or softness. You gotta be hard, closed off, and ready to fight every moment of every day. Lose focus for a split second, and you’re dead.

Now the only thing that can save me is HER.

So I read this book and … it had a nice idea but it was completely unbelievable. I don’t know. Maybe read it for the feels? It’s not super long. It has no basis in reality but lots of angst. Other people love it.

Mate Set by Laurann DohnerMate Set by Laurann Dohner. $ 1.99.

From the Jacket Copy:

Book 1 in the Mating Heat series.
It’s werewolf mating season. All the males are in heat and the driving, sexual lust of their beasts is almost uncontrollable. Mika is human, in an alley, surrounded by four horny werewolves. She knows she’s in deep shit. A tall, handsome werewolf rescues her then demands payment. Hot, sweaty, intimate payment.
Grady is a half breed whose his human mother abandoned him to his werewolf father, so he knows human women just aren’t safe to fall in love with. The wolf within him wants Mika as his mate, but Grady will not give in. Never. Ever. He’s willing to fight his emotions and his beast, no matter how much sexy Mika tempts him.

But neither of them expected her Uncle Omar to assign Grady to protect her from other males-24/7, in her home, sleeping just down the hall. Mika decides to make the best of her vacation and keep the hot wolf in her bed. Grady can’t resist the scorching sex, but he is determined to resist the bond.

This is another crackstastic author but not for me, unfortunately. The fact that I don’t love this author is putting a real crimp in my friendship with Melissa from SM Book Obsessions. She says there is a lot of sex in this book. (Well, she said it differently but I’m modifying it for the tender eyes of the DA audience).

Reaper's Property by Joanna WyldeReaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.
But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse-she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants-at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.

Maybe.

This appears to be an Amazon only deal. I enjoyed this book quite a bit and felt that Wylde addressed female agency within a male dominated organization.

Kindle, Kindle Fire 16GB, and Kindle Fire HDX 16GB are all 20% off today at Amazon. I bought the basic kindle (kindle 4) for $55. It will be great to have an extra kindle to use in the kitchen and for my husband to use when we travel, and for $55, there’s little to lose by getting it.

Your “daily deals” are causing my TBR pile to steadily rise…and my disposable income to steadily fall. ;)
