Archetype by M. D. WatersArchetype by M. D. Waters. $ 2.99

From the Jacket Copy:

Introducing a breathtakingly inventive futuristic suspense novel about one woman who rebels against everything she is told to believe.
Emma wakes in a hospital, with no memory of what came before. Her husband, Declan, a powerful, seductive man, provides her with new memories, but her dreams contradict his stories, showing her a past life she can’t believe possible: memories of war, of a camp where girls are trained to be wives, of love for another man. Something inside her tells her not to speak of this, but she does not know why. She only knows she is at war with herself.

Suppressing those dreams during daylight hours, Emma lets Declan mold her into a happily married woman and begins to fall in love with him. But the day Noah stands before her, the line between her reality and dreams shatters.

In a future where women are a rare commodity, Emma fights for freedom but is held captive by the love of two men–one her husband, the other her worst enemy. If only she could remember which is which. . . .

The first novel in a two-part series, Archetype heralds the arrival of a truly memorable character–and the talented author who created her.

This *sounds* intriguing but the second book isn’t due out until late 2014. Library Journal gave it a starred review. “VERDICT Waters takes a clichéd premise—a woman wakes up with no memories—and transforms it into an original and compelling thriller that takes a look at a possible and terrifying future. Comparisons to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and S.J. Watson’s Before I Go To Sleep are justified. Readers looking for a great thriller with a strong female protagonist mixed with a hint of science fiction should pick this up immediately.”

A Bride for a Billionaire Box Set: A Rich Man's Whim\The Sheikh's Prize\The Billionaire's Trophy\Challenging Dante by Lynne GrahamA Bride for a Billionaire Box Set by Lynne Graham. $ 1.99

From the Jacket Copy:

In A Rich Man’s Whim, bedding Kat should be easy for billionaire Mikhail, but the tempting redhead is impossible to seduce! So Mikhail offers to pay off her debts—in exchange for a month on his yacht, and in his cabin, virginity included!

In The Sheikh’s Prize, marrying Sapphire Marshall was the biggest mistake of Sheikh Zahir’s life. Now, his ex-wife has returned to his desert and Zahir plans to banish her from his mind once and for all, beginning with reclaiming his wedding night!

In The Billionaire’s Trophy, when Bastian Christou sees his intern’s photo on an escort website, he’s stunned by both her double life and her stunning photo. Since Bastian has an ex-fiancée to keep at bay, Emmie Marshall might just be the best armor money can buy!

In Challenging Dante, Dante Leonetti is convinced Topaz Marshall is after his family’s money, and he’s determined to seduce the truth from her lips. After experiencing Leonetti’s ferocious reputation firsthand, will she be able to resist his legendary charms?

Lynne Graham is the secret pleasure of many readers, even those who aren’t avid HP readers so this is probably a good box set. So many of the popular billionaire books these days are essentially sexed up HPs. That formula keeps working.

The black sheep of the family, Leo has nothing but his good looks and noble birth to recommend him. Hannah ought to be appalled at what she’s witnessed, but there’s something about Leo that draws her to him.

When Leo claims he can prove that women can feel desire as passionately as men, Hannah is incredulous. Her own experiences have been uninspiring. Yet she can’t bring herself to refuse his audacious proposal when he offers to tutor her in the art of lovemaking. As the tantalizing, wicked lessons continue, she begins to fear she’s losing not just her inhibitions, but her heart as well. The poorest of relations, she has nothing to offer Leo but herself. Bound by Brenda RothertBold & Beautiful by Christin Lovell. $ .99.

From the Jacket Copy:

College senior Kate Camden has learned to adapt – to her last year of school, to the promise of motherhood, to the fact that she’s doing it all alone. But just when she’s learned to adjust, heartache threatens to break her apart.

Pro hockey player Jason “Ryke” Ryker has it all: adoring fans, a promising career, and a beautiful wife. But when his seemingly perfect life is shaken by tragedy, he’s left questioning whether having it all is ever more than an illusion.

When circumstance brings Kate and Ryke together, they discover they don’t have to hurt alone. Bound by a grief that haunts them both, they must rely on one another to survive heartbreak. But that grief is more powerful than they realize, and the tie that binds them together may ultimately tear them apart.

The negative review was frustrated that it took so long for the couple to consummate their relationship and that the grief suffered by Kate lasted too long. She also disliked the pushing away that the heroine did even though the hero was persistent.

I rambled at great length about Archetype just before it came out here:

The second book is still on my TBR shelf.
