Overview

THERON-Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld. From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life-silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I think Nook Press must just take longer to reflect price adjustments than all other retailers but it is Free at Apple, Amazon and all the other retailers. This is the first in the series.

Overview
National bestseller Still Life With Murder is the first book of P.B. Ryan’s acclaimed historical mystery series featuring Boston governess Nell Sweeney and opium-smoking former battle surgeon Will Hewitt. Thought to have died during the Civil War, Will is arrested for murder, and Nell must prove his innocence. Originally published by Berkley Prime Crime.

While I didn’t keep up with the series, I really enjoyed this entry and the other two that I read.

She's Gotta Be Mine by Jennifer SkullyShe’s Gotta Be Mine by Jennifer Skully. $ Free.

From the Jacket Copy:

Product Description

If you’re a fan of Bella Andre, Susan Andersen, Rachel Gibson, Jennifer Crusie, and Janet Evanovich, then step into the world of Jennifer Skully!

If you missed it the first time around, KOD Daphne winner “Sex and the Serial Killer” is back with a new title, “She’s Gotta Be Mine”, and a slight text revamp. But it’s still laugh-out-loud funny, peopled with hilarious characters in the small town of Cottonmouth, California. Not to mention an alleged serial killer who’s too devilishly handsome to ignore.

Book Description

Dumped? For her husband’s high school sweetheart he hasn’t seen in twenty years? Roberta Jones Spivey isn’t going to lay down for that. Instead, she reinvents herself and the new Bobbie Jones—new haircut, new name, new attitude—follows her soon-to-be ex to the small Northern California town of Cottonmouth.

What better way to show him—and his sweetheart—what he’s missing in the brand new Bobbie Jones than taking up with the town’s local bad boy—who’s also reputed to be a serial killer. Nick Angel is devilishly handsome and sexy as all get-out. In a word, perfect.

It’s all going exactly according to plan…until a real murder rocks the little town of Cottonmouth. Of course, Nick didn’t do it…did he?

“She’s Gotta Be Mine”, previously published as “Sex and the Serial Killer”, is a contemporary romance of approximately 100,000 words / 400 pages. The book contains the following bonus material:

Excerpts from “Dead To The Max”, Max Starr Series, Book 1, and “Twisted by Love”, Reincarnation Tales, Book 1 by Jasmine Haynes and “Baby, I’ll Find You” by Jennifer Skully

Look at all the freebies. It’s raining freebies. Anyhoodle, Jennifer Skully is also Jasmine Haynes who writes erotic romances for Berkley. I can’t remember if I read any Skully books but I think I did and I think I liked it. But hey, it’s free!

Man, I just finished Still Life with Murder on Wednesday! Oh well, it was only $1.99 when I bought it. I thought it was okay — certainly worth the price I paid, but Will really didn’t appeal to me and don’t think I’ll keep up with the series.

Will definitely improves during the series. This is by no means an insta-romance. He’s a strong hero and really earns his HEA.

You’re right about Nook being slow. The Shelly Thacker freebie posted yesterday wasn’t free for the Nook yesterday but is today.

The Nook Free Friday book is Scoundrel for Hire by Adrienne deWolfe – haven’t read it, but it’s a historical Western with a Colorado mining heiress and a rogue.

Another thumbs-up for Snow-Kissed — it’s really good, but be prepared to read it in one sitting because the emotions are dialed up to 11.

This is getting ridiculous. I pre-ordered Sempre:Redemption on Amazon in November and my reward is the book is now half-price 4 days later? Returned for refund and I’ll attempt to repurchase at the lower price, but I feel screwed over by the publisher for my loyalty. I think a month or longer after release is reasonable, but less than a week?

Both “Marked” and “She’s Got to be Mine” have pretty cheap audio books if they interest you. You purchase the ebook then can purchase the audio for under $4. This is a new discovery for me. Someone blogged about Courtney Milan’s “The Duchess Wars” a few weeks back and I was able to snag the audio version for $1.99. Thank you o’ wonderful person who mentioned this several weeks ago.

Audio books have been making it easier for me to get Christmasy things done. I’m anticipating that wrapping presents this weekend won’t be as much of a slog as in the past.

I’m a huge Laura Florand fan girl and found Snow Kissed slow and boring. It was nothing like her Chocolate series and I wouldn’t recommend it.
