Not really a comment on the above, and feel free to delete if this is against the rules, but there is a lovely book called LIGHT THE HIDDEN THINGS by Don McQuinn free (today only) in the Kindle store. It’s not marketed as romance but it is about a retired Marine trying to conquer PTSD and form a loving relationship again.

GA Aiken is also Shelly Laurenston. The second book in this series was published as “The Distressing Damsel” before it was renamed “About A Dragon”. [Some of us are still bitter since we weren't warned before buying About A Dragon when we already owned Distressing Damsel.]

I’ve never read any Robyn Carr, but I decided to check out the $1 book on Amazon. I saw that they were also offering a bundle of the first four books in the series for a bit over $9. Most of the reviews were great, but a 1-star review I saw said there was just too much explicit sex. Yeah, you know I’ve already downloaded it.

I adore Aiken’s Dragon series, already have all the paperbacks. Unfortunately, Dragon Actually is 4.99 at BN. I’ve got the first generation Nook and I’m thinking it’s time to switch to the Kindle. Hate you, BN.

@jane_l: I know, but I don’t have an account with Sony and I really dont feel like opening one. I’m all about one stop shopping and ease of access. If I have to sideload something I wont bother, unless it’s from the library. There are quite a few authors who have missed sales from me for precisely this reason. For all Amazon’s supposed evil, they seem to consistently stock the titles I’m interested in, not to mention the sales are pretty good. These are the main reasons why I’m thinking of switching to the Kindle.

I already had 2/4 of the books and the Virgin River series never seemed that interesting to me so I decided to try Fated. I was never going to pay the regular price for the series since it sounded odd. I have to say on reading it, PW might have been too kind. Recognizing it is the first book, it felt like an everything and the kitchen sink sort. With my favorite annoying plot hook, the special child of destiny. Also, it had so many plot holes, with people randomly entering and exiting without us ever finding out their real purpose. I have to say thank you to Jane for putting the deal out there. I might have tried the series at full price and been annoyed.
